Dobson's 2nd year

The truth is that Dobson will be fighting for his job in training camp. We will make changes/additions. He better come to camp ready to compete

Brady needs to rent a 9 bedroom house on the beach in LA for 2 months.

One bedroom each for:

Hakeem Nicks
Amendola
Edelman
Dobson
Boyce
Thompkins
Gronk (for parties, just to loosen people up)
Vereen

& the two rookie TEs drafted in the 2nd and 5th round to share one room.

Nicks will not be back with the Giants primarily because he amassed a record amount of fines for being late or skipping treatment for injuries.
He will not be a Patriot.

Fixed that for you.

Well, it partially depends on whether Brady's long ball woes were due to that report of ligament damage or not.

But I completely agree... he gets behind people more than anybody I've seen in a Pats uniform besides Moss and Morgan. Certainly over 50 catches and maybe upwards of 1000 yards.

Bradys never had a long ball, unless Moss was bringing it home

The Slater miss is crazy. Why even call that route unless Dobson is running it? The endzone throwaway was potentially a huge misread by Brady. Edelman was open. He threw the TD on the next pass, but it was there on the throwaway play and could have been an issue if they didn't score.

Dobson has a ton of room for growth. He had a very good rookie year considering what rookie WR's usually do in NE combined with being injured.

That ball he caught against Denver on Sunday when he was wide open in the middle of the field was an absolute rocket from TB. He caught it all hands. Kid's got hands, size, solid speed. I don't know if he's legit #1 WR material (ceiling wise) but his ceiling could be an excellent #2/borderline 1. I'll take that. Still think we need more around him, Edelman, Amendola and Gronk though. Maybe Thompkins/Boyce are those guys I don't know.

Dobson needs to improve everything, but I'd say mostly his strength without losing any speed. He got beat up at the line of scrimmage this year. Needs to get stronger/tougher. The route running/being on same page with Brady and hands will all be there with a year under his belt.

I can;t wait to see him next year. Him and collins. Dobson showed a lot of improvement over the year which was great even when he was injured most of the time. Rookie WRs always have tough times..i expect his 2nd year to be better...has all the tool

I'm thinking josh Boyce could blow the roof off of the position previously assumed by welker, then Edelman.....bigger, faster, and better COD than either, as well as superior route skill after 1 year.

We still dont know what boyce will become. But again like collins and dobson...he has the skills to be a great WR. Another player i am excited to see next year

Just make sure you don't overreact like scott99. I really wasn't happy with Hightower's 2nd year jump by mid season, but the last few weeks he looked really good, talking Pro Bowl good. My hope is Dobson's 2nd year is between Alshon Jeffries' and Michael Floyd's 2nd years.

Hightower played good come playoffs compared to rest of year. Dobson may be our only deep threat next year besides Gronk.

If he has a jeffries year then this O will be great. Lets hope

I think Boyce has a good a shot as anyone.

No one here is saying why they think Dobson will be a lot better. His route running is fine, not great, his hands are ok.

I haven't seen explosiveness, physicallity, etc...

As a general rule, although there have been more exceptions over the past 5 years, even the best WRs need to have at least 2 seasons in order to really get it going. The first season is an adjustment year, and the second season is when they start to really show what they've got on the NFL level. With Dobson being forced into so much action as a rookie, people are anticipating that the sophomore jump will be fairly significant.

While people here really oversell Dobson's rookie season, he did show some promise, and he looks as if he should at least reach Brandon Lloyd level (in terms of play style, not necessarily in production) as a middle-deep threat, minus the pathological aversion to post-reception contact.

Thompkins and Boyce? Well, neither really showed anything, IMO, but I expect they'll have all through training camp to show they've improved.

IF he can be a Branch/Lloyd I would be happy and that's a good comparison. I don't see Jeffries, DT. Good post

its hard to explain though...I think he will because I've seen how most rookie receivers struggle and tend to come into their own in their 2nd years.

maybe its understanding better technique, learning the playbook more etc. but generally 2nd year is when that leap is made.

I think we shouldnt sleep on Boyce either. I remember vereen was considered a "bust" by most here his first year and then started to break out his second year.

I guess everyone is technically fighting for a job but if you seriously think his job is in question, you are off your rocker. He is safe, but KT and Boyce are not.
