We traded out of number 29 for Jamie Collins, Logan Ryan, Josh Boyce and Michael Buchanan. Looking like a really good trade so far (for both teams)

but but, Fantasy football points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

/Dezbryant arguement makers.

It was actually Collins, Ryan, Boyce, and the 7th round pick they got was used to get Blount.

No. Actually the pick we received in the 7th for him was the one traded along with Jeff Demps for LeGarrette Blount.

:D

If Blount shred defenses over the next 2 games and Collins shred offenses it will be the best trade ever

Yes...the Vikings have already won that distinction from the Hershel Walker trade...now they could do it with the #29 draft pick trade.
Way to go Vikes!

Didn't realise it was Blount... in that case, we won!

I think that the trade was the best trade of Belichick’s career:

• Jamie Collins is special I firmly believe he will develop into an All Pro player over the next few seasons, he will be the play maker we’ve been hoping for at the LB position for years. Collins and Chandler Jones will make for potentially the scariest and most freakish front 7 tandems in the NFL.
• Logan Ryan has starting CB written all over him, if we resign Talib (which I hope happens) there is little doubt in my mind that Ryan will overtake Arrington as the 3rd cornerback.
• I know a lot of people are not high on Boyce given his less than stellar rookie season but I actually thought he played really well in the final 2 games before his ankle injury. I am obsessed with this kids talent level he is bigger, stronger than and as fast as TY Hilton.
• The 7th round selection actually was the pick used to acquire Blount. I will admit I was critical of Blount early in the year and even around mid-season but I was wrong, Blount has developed in a beast and he could be the player that we can ride to a SB championship. I also think we have a chance to retain him this offseason.

So it was Cordarelle Patterson and Jeff Demps for Collins, Ryan, Boyce & Blount. I think long term, this trade works out for the Pats, even short term, Collins and Ryan have already made an impact on the Pats D, and Blount, well what more needs to be said about him, he looks like Corey Dillon out there.

I'm glad it worked out for us.

Oh, cordarelle patterson is not that great.

I heard from somewhere if deandre hopkins were available the pats would have held onto the pick and drafted him.

Where are all the posts saying we should have drafted a safety, and anyone with a brain knows BB blew it?
Funny how those kind of posts just stop getting made.

Patterson had a fantastic rookie season, he's gonna be a good one. BUT, the positions we upgraded via the trade make this a very good trade by BB. I wasn't happy at first, but then Ryan and Collins really started showing up for the defense, and Blount has been a beast. Boyce can be the real wild card of this trade, depending on whether he becomes the next Taylor Price or the next David Givens. If he becomes the next Givens, this trade will be an overwhelming win for the Pats.

Patterson has also been a bit over hyped by the media.

He was 100th overall in receiving yards with 469/4 TD's. Thompkins had 466/4 TD's. Edelman, Amendola, Dobson and Gronk all outscored him in yards. He had a poor QB all year but those still aren't great numbers. He has been a good returner aswell but even then he only had 2 TD's.

But but but Belichick the GM doesn't help Belichick the coach.

He also didn't play much in the early part of the year. They only had him in a few, limited packages. Once he got on the field more he made a big impact. He was named to the All-NFL team as a kick returner - not too shabby. I really like the trade, but this kid has the chance to be something special. Collins also has a chance to be something special and I am looking forward to seeing him take out Thomas this week.

...and the reported reason why was that he was struggling to learn the playbook. He's clearly a talented player, but doesn't fit the mold of a Patriots first rounder at all.

Given the way the board stacked up and the fact that the Pats had an uncharacteristic dearth of picks, the trade was a no-brainer. It transformed their whole draft.

This can't be right. I always hear that it is better to take the player than trading down for value. Clearly guys like Collins, Ryan, and Blount were acquired in different ways than trading down to get them.

Patterson was fantastic as a special team returner. His offensive production wasn't anything special. Doesn't mean he won't be special going forward. But he was totally a non-factor for the first 12 weeks of the season on offense. He really only had one great game (and that was really a great final five minutes of the fourth quarter vs. the Ravens).

Wow! Felger even admitted that trading down in this case, the Pats looked to have won.

We won the trade based on getting 3 impact contributors - Collins, Blount, and Ryan. Boyce is still an unknown but has some upside.

But let's not underestimate Patterson. He is a promising young player, who averaged an eye popping 32 yards per kick return his rookie season, while returning 2 of them for touchdowns.

Now of course if all he does well is return kicks, he'll be the next Ted Ginn Jr. But I hear he has more upside than that.

Regardless, I am quite pleased with the haul we got out of the #29 pick. Great trade(s) and use of draft resources, BB!!
