Official Patriots vs. Dolphins Post Game

It's the same thing as the Sterling Moore play, it has two sides to it. Evans and Amendola didn't secure it.

So if you agree the defender had something to do with it, how do you call it a choke?

Cue the excuse making by homers about the refs. Aside from the Fletcher call, refs been calling it lose all game.

No. The Refs hadn't been calling it LOOSE. But I'm not surprised you don't understand that. And talking reality doesn't make people homers. But people like yourself don't understand that.

Ultimately, the team put themselves in another have to come from behind scenario. Defense couldn't make stops especially 3rd and longs. Tackling was terrible.

Really? The team put themselves in the come from behind scenario? How so? Are you saying that Jones asked to have his jersey jerked by the neck from behind so he couldn't get his arms up to block the pass from Tannehill to Wallace that led to Wallace's TD? Or did Solder ask to take a club to the head so that he'd be out for most of the 2nd half?

It would have been nice if Amendola had made a play over the defender but the defender made the play. Team lacks playmakers so their margin of error is very small.

You mean the defender pulled on Amendola prior to the catch attempt and then was able to knock the ball loose because he was in position due to having pulled on Amendola to begin with?

Let's hope for the best with Cincy tonight. The number one bye is gone because Denver has a cakewalk from here on out. I believe Cincy will drop another game so let's just hope the team can come up with something at Baltimore.

I just hate that the team let a winnable game get away. Another desperate team next week. Bill needs to inform this team that playoff ball has already started.

The team did everything they could to win. Sorry that you don't understand that the REFS missed calls that should be called and would be called any other time.

Now that Gronk is lost, we have no red zone threat. That will be our undoing in the playoffs.

Idk, Dobson if healthy can be that bug red zone threat that was lacking in previous years without Gronk.

Ummm.....no Mayo, no Wilfork, no Kelley.

The defense is NOT put together with duct tape?????????????????
Usually Ninkovich comes up big in the clutch. He was active, but I don't remember any good pressures on Miami passing plays.

That Miami offense is the real deal. The Matthews WR is wonderful. And what the O-line for the Phins have been able to do with all the distractions is a testimony to good coaching.

Hightower played his best game probably since the beginning of this season. Jones was disruptive. The secondary was solid, even Arrington, except for the missed tackle by Gregory for the TD. Spikes is almost pitiful dropping back in pass coverage. But we knew his forty was timed by a sundial. And Hightower's athleticism in pass coverage is now open for criticism as well. That's why they drafted that athletic LB, Collins. Put him and Fletcher in more. It's frustrating seeing lumbering guys who aren't physically capable of covering receivers. The league has guys who can run like the wind at that position.

A win would have won them the division. This loss probably bothered him more than others. It bothered me too. A lot was on the line today. Made me wonder if they even have a chance to do much in the playoffs.

We might. But Dobson and Thompkins are going to have to get big and win jump balls in the red zone and Dennard and Talib are going to have to get healthy.

Amendola had no chance to secure it, because he caught the ball over his head with the defenders hand in between his own.

And the other hand came over the top of Amendola's head and swatted it away.

Just watched it again on stop-motion. The ball was underthrown - Amendola had the guy beat but had to slow up.

Ah well. Let's face it, this is a really beat up team. But one without quit. And anyone calling Amendola a "bust" or "joke" is the latter, period. He had a great game.

I hope they keep him and Edelman.

I'll buy the floppy shoes, big red nose, and horn to honk for McDaniels, and you all can buy the jester hat with the bells and the balls to juggle for Patricia.

I'm a dumb two year old, wah wah. Tell me how it is Daddy.

Peace out Patsfans. Be back later. :)

So your reading comprehension is lacking as well. great. Now, put me on ignore so I don't have to deal with your BS anymore.

See my last post.

Maybe we can get lucky and get the Eli Manning/Joe Flacco PI flags. Yeah..right.

1. I thought McD abandoned the run too early, especially give the state of our receivers.

2. Boyce's drops killed us.

3. Jules is a beast.

4. I thought the "next man up" deal was still gonna work for this team. Only problem is that with Gronk or Brady, there is no "next man." I'm pessimistic about our chances now.

Denard and Talib may need the offseason to get healthy IMO.

Our D was poor. Miami's first TD at the end of the half was really inexcusable.

Not often you see an opposing coach calling a time out with the opposing team set-up: first half, 1/12 minutes to go and first down around his team's 20 yd. line, in 3 pt. game. Pats score on acrobatic TD with aboutb 1:20 left, but Philbin's bet that the Patriot's D will fail in the clutch proves to be decisive. However, Philbin's team needed a completion on 3rd and long to reward his call, as Brady would have had time late to add to 10-0 lead.

I don't think McDaniels called a good game today by any stretch of the imagination. And I'm someone that has defended him all year.

Exactly. That play was not on Ryan. The WR got good position on him. While he may have grabbed the jersey, he was using correct form so the refs will never call it. If Gregory takes a better angle on the play to make the tackle and actually wraps him up instead of flying in with a shoulder, Clay is stopped short.

Form doesn't matter in space. Sims grabbed the jersey and yanked Ryan but the Side Judge missed it. You might be right about Gregory though. I will have to watch that play again.

They need to give Ridley more touches. Fumbles aside, he's the only guy we have that is a legit gamebreaker running the ball.

Re: Re: Official Patriots vs. Dolphins Post Game

Comments like this astonish me.
In a league where the average team is scoring 24 ppg how can any TD be inexcusable.
Your expectation that the defense must stop everyone every time is ridculous.
Note that the defense had shut them out in the first half, so you are saying points allowed in the first half is horrendous and inexcusable.

I think it's unreasonable to generally be upset with giving up 24 points, but execution of basic tackling fundamentals would have prevented that TD.

That said, we were lucky three points bounced off of the Miami holder's face.

We got killed by the pass, and we got killed by poor tackling. Our secondary is basically the same as it was at the start of the season so they have no excuse to be allowing so many catches. The offense actually has the possibility to get better but the defense is as good as its going to get. They HAVE to do better than that.

The important thing is did they get the job done when it counted. And the answer was a resounding NO for the defense. Giving up the tying score at the end of the half; giving up a critical four down play - those are signs of a loser squad. The offense actually still got within a hair's breadth of winning it in spite of everything.

You're 100% right about the poor tackling. That definitely needs to be addressed. However, overall the DBs played a decent game today (not great but pretty decent). They completely took Clay out of the game besides one six yard catch. Wallace's TD was due to a coverage breakdown where Cole played him to hand him off to Gregory but Gregory was in a terrible spot. That is easily fixable going forward. Talib essentially shut down Hartline for most of the game aside from the 3rd and 17 where the D played back to keep the ball in front.

Did you see something that caused McD to go away from the run after the first series? It seemed like Blount was putting the hurt on the D, then we never really saw him the rest of the game?

They had a fake on.
