I turned off the game at half-time.

I turned off the TV and went to a another room, closed my eyes, and listened to Zolak and Socci on the radio. After the 2nd Patriots TD , I debated whether to watch on TV or just stick by the radio. Socci and Zolak are so bad ( or I am so spoiled by Gil and Gino), I headed back to the big screen hoping the Forehead would stay stuck in neutral. He was and the rest is history.

I agree, I too felt awful @ the start of the second q and changed the channels thinking they will can never come back, especially against Peyton and their now strong D. But then, after the half, i decided I need to watch and show my support even if they get blown out 100-0 and viola.

and btw, I insisted that my girlfriend never even come into the LR to watch the TV in the second half because she watched the 1Q with me and I am convinced that she watching it with me was the reason for our three turnovers.
Ive been like that for 20 or 30 years no matter what the sport. If its getting really ugly i just walk away for a while..... On wives and superstitions..... About six or seven years ago the pats were losing badly, my wife comes home and shes wearing these shoes that made this loud click clack noise on the hard wood floors. At that moment L Maroney ripped of a big run and scored, we went on to win. For years afterward when ever the pats were losing i had her put those shoes on and walk around, or i'd put the shoes on top of the tv with the toes pointing away from each other.. It seemed to work up until we lost to the giants in 07.... I was thinking about compiling everybody on PF's superstitions and putting them into a book, but never went through with it.

Ha-hah! I must show this to my lady to show that all is not lost with me, yet, because I have some company in this aspect. :D

Poor thing has been putting up with me for so many years and she's also a big Pats fan. Probably bigger than me because she did what I asked her to do to help the Pats win. :D

So obviously you'll skip the first half of every game the rest of the season. Right?

Maybe I'll skip the kickoff but start watching at least a little earlier, so the hole we are in isn't so large. 24-0. yikes.

All I remember is that it was 24-0, and I decided that making a sandwich would be more enjoyable. Damn it...

That must have been one hell of a sandwich if it took you like 2 and a half hours to make it.

I turned the game ON at halftime.

My daughter had a 6PM orchestra concert in college, 2.5 hours away. Concert, world's fastest dinner :), then I was bookin' down the road.

By 8:30 was scanning for a crackly radio station carrying the game. Finally one faded in, but it was already 14-0.

Undaunted, I sped up and made it home just in time for the 2nd half kickoff.

Glorious.

It sounds like you need to invest in a Sling Box and some head phones.

You missed out on Tom being the GOAT. He needs to win the SB, and he shatters Montana in the debate, never mind he just put manning to bed on the manning vs. Tom debates.

Unfortunately you are wrong from the public's perspective. Manning is a much more popular player around the country. Brady is one of the most hated players in the league. The debate of Manning and Brady ended years ago as far as I'm concerned. 5 SB trips with 3 rings to Manning's 2 trips and one ring? They both have amazing stats, so I don't think that is worth mentioning at this point. Brady simply has a much better post season record and head to head match up statistic. When I consider the supporting cast of weapons that Brady has had compared to what Manning has had on offense it really elevates Brady to me. Manning played with several HOF weapons on offense in INdy and now he has that again in Denver. Brady's best WR this season is Edelman. In the early years Brady's best guys were Brown, Patton, Givens, and Faulk. Enough said there.

Manning has this hokey personality that people love and latch onto though. As a result, many won't let themselves feel like anyone else is better. I hear this all of the time in these conversations when folks favor Manning over Brady, but can't really explain why.

And just checked the score 1 minute ago. Oh god, what the heck did I do.

Oh ye of little faith! I was at the game and was literally shivering in my shoes. It was not the coldest game I have ever been to, but I think the combo of the wind and not being used to frigid temps yet caused me (and others) to be so cold (well that, and the debacle occurring on the field). My husband was sitting elsewhere with friends and I was with my 15 yr. old son. Hubby called me at half time and said, "When are we leaving?" I told him, "If they aren't doing anything by the end of the 3rd quarter then I will consider leaving..." I only said I would consider it because my son was next to me saying, "We're not leaving. We're not leaving..." I was definitely leaving by the end of the 3rd if things were still going so badly! Luckily Brady reverted to form and I did not accidentally walk out of the greatest comeback eva!!

Where is this (where the picture was taken)? I want to go there!! Hot chicks with short shorts and blowhorns....YEAH!

This is what I feel like after making this thread.

That guy screamed the "C" word to a feminist rally and this was the aftermath. As for turning the game off? You poor, tortured soul.

Turning the game off? How can you do that?

NEVER count out Brady & co, in the end the game was well worth staying up until 5:25am as it was here at the end of the game!

I thought about changing the channel when it was 24-0 and they couldn't muster up a score to end the half.

Then I thought if the situation were reversed, and we had a 24-0 lead on Manning, I would probably still be worried about possibly losing the game. And our guy is just as good, so let's give 'em a chance.

I threatened to not watch the second half, but I couldn't resist.

At the Panthers' game, when they were down 10-0 and couldn't seem to get anything going, I kept the faith. But down 24-0 at halftime, to Manning? I admit I lost the faith. But then I thought about the 49ers game last year, and was like 'OK I'll watch their first possession in the second half.'

Brady is amazing. I have seen him play twice in person. Once in 45-3 win against Jets. Second in last week's game against Panthers. Both times I was struck by how poised he is, by his intelligence with handling the ball (e.g., when he gets sacked that is the best alternative available, and he has calculated this instantaneously). Truly the master of the pocket.

He does need to stop yelling at refs, he's gonna get in trouble for it one of these days...

That's too bad, had you watched the rest you would understand why the NFLN analysts see Denver as the clear favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Imagine if the Bronco's had won? They would cancel the rest of the season and give Peyton his Lombardi right now.

Well Dilfer still thinks the Broncos are the clear cut favorite in the AFC. He said as much after the game. :bricks:

I usually DVR the games in case I want to re-watch. Last night at halftime I deleted the first half but continued to record (and watch) the second half, because I didn't want to miss the greatest comeback ever. Right now it's 24 - 7 Denver. :D

24 -14, momentum is shifting...... :D
