Hey Ian. . . .

Can we find a "blind" smiley and call it :clete:?

I think a smiley with money being stuffed into his back pocket would be more appropriate.

So you're going to quit watching this obviously fixed league, right?

PS - I never said it wasn't PI because I think you can make a case that it was just like you can make a case that the ball was uncatchable.

they shouldnt have picked up the flag. shouldve stayed with the call they made or didnt make.

he claimed post game that he was told by the ref that he threw a punch when he didnt and there was no replay of that either

Ummm . . . what?

The penalty for throwing a punch is disqualification + 15 yards.

and BTW, I'm a well known Pats homer and don't mind paying for it but when the hell does Mankins get the news he's KILLING drives with his boneheaded penalties?...we had the wind on that drive..that's three points they just shyt away.

Joker - I've asked this in both this thread and the game thread. Did anyone actually SEE what Mankins did? As I mentioned, ESPN didn't show the O-line or show a replay so I am skeptical of the veracity of the call.

So there was a determination that, in essence, uncatchability, that the ball was intercepted at or about the same time the primary contact against the receiver occurred.

That's an outright lie...the .gif doesn't lie. He's lying and he KNOWS he's lying. Someone must have his back for him to say this or he would have just let the league office make the determination later this week. It wouldn't change the outcome, so why is he lying? the ball isn't even in the picture at the start? he's a liar...why?

Icy - How can you say that Carolina geared for the PASS when they had 8 men on the line with the 2 LBers directly behind it and 1 CB out on the receiver? That just doesn't make sense..

They were prepared for a short pass with heavy QB pressure ... we did not run on 3rd down all night - we should have spread with an audible.

IMO we played into their hands on that play ... they would have moved the 8 on the line if we had spread. We used to spread a lot on 3rd down when Brady was younger and he'd zip a sideline pass for a few yard gainer. I think a spread formation would have taken them out of their preferred formation.

What did we do on that play to take advantage of their formation of 8 on the line?

perhaps I missed it but I don't think i did.

It isn't worth the drive space that it takes up. It's total BS. It wasn't underthrown and it certainly would have been catchable if Gronk hadn't been bear-hugged. the REF is just covering his arse for a horrible call.

I think he threw it for the holding ... got out of it with that uncatchable explanation.

He turtled.

Game plan for the Donkeys:

Just bear hug all their receivers every single play

No foul.....right?

There's a big difference between questioning whether it was a penalty or not and thinking this was a plan hatched in the deepest corridors in NFL HQ. Bad calls happen. It does not make for a conspiracy.

Exactly. No conspiracy. It was right there in plain sight. Very, Very bad call. At a critical time. I don't believe in conspiracies in the NFL. Just Refs making calls they feel fit, regardless of the rules.

So you're going to quit watching this obviously fixed league, right?

PS - I never said it wasn't PI because I think you can make a case that it was just like you can make a case that the ball was uncatchable.

The official clearly blew the call. Whether you want to call it holding or PI, the penalty was obvious, and the defender's actions making a play 'uncatchable' means that the play wasn't 'uncatchable'.

sorry, DaB...didn't see your questions...I watched the game and saw the play and the replay on it...Mankins was clearly guilty and clearly way over the extracurricular limit...and I really have no axe to grind about him either....he screwed up and it cost them points...so did Ridley...not winning football to me.

Oh well ... time to hit the sack and sleep this game off - took 3 Benadryls to calm my anger :p

I am proud of the team how they played with even more injuries.

I think Gronk and Amendola are only about 75-80 percent healthy and we'll score more soon.

The Panthers deserve a lot of credit. Ridley fumbled points away. Carolina didn't turn the ball over. They answered our momentum. They deserved the win.

But that non-call at the end...I don't know. To say the ball was uncatchable is a bit of a guess. For one thing, Brady could have meant to throw it earlier to a different spot but the illegal contact/pass interference may have prevented that.

I hope the league doesn't let that crew anywhere near the play-offs.

But the Carolina Panthers are for real and Cam Newton extended some drives with some incredible plays. There was the 3rd and long where he made 5 Patriots miss and eventually ended in a TD. He proved a lot to his doubters tonight and Carolina is a legit play-off team. Congrats to them.

Finally, some sanity from you whining ****ies.

Rob Ninkovich as he left locker room said, "I could go play another game right now. Go play 80 plays. That's how angry I feel."

after that Jet game call at the end, and BTW it hasn't been called SINCE and this call tonight, I think it's safe to say we're owed a key call or two going forward. I'll gladly take a "Patriots cheated Peyton with bad calls" win next weekend.

You could make a case that the pass might have been uncatachable, but the flag was thrown and you should stay with it. My thoughts

Mike Pereira ‏@MikePereira 2h

My thoughts..Since the flag was thrown they should have stayed with the call. There was clear contact before the ball was intercepted. More.

I think, 2 time superbowl ref, Gerry Austin is a ******. The guy has been spouting out BS from day 1. ESPN should fire him.

With that being said, it was a frustrating game to watch. And not because of the non-call in the last play. This game was very winnable. The Panthers defense is nothing close to dominating. But their ball control offense really limits opportunities and we couldn't stop them when we had opportunities to do so. Watching Cam Newton run away 2 or 3 times on key 3rd downs was so frustrating!:bricks:

Ultimately, Panthers made more plays than the Patriots. Congrats to them!

I'm feeling frustrated!

But I'll get over it! :)
