Aaron Hernandez charged with murder

I am one who has been adamant that he is innocent until proven guilty, to not jump to conclusions. I still maintain that AH's case must be presented before a decision is fair. Please keep in mind that an advocate just stepped up and advocated his case, the district attorney. When AH's attorney's get to present their case, the situation could seem very different to you and many.

With that said, I am glad the DA's case was presented and the evidence, if true, strongly, albeit circumstantially, that AH shot the victim or was involved. Given this, given that the case laid out suggests with strength that AH did this, I am glad the Patriot's released him. Even if he didn't do this, the circumstances sound very bad for a Patriot player to be involved in and it is best he was released. And if a presentation by AH's defense does not address the evidence in a meaningful, factual way that refutes it, AH given a prison term is a good thing. But again, please keep in mind you just heard an advocate of one side. One side of story has been presented, another side of a story may exist that is also compelling. Likely? I don't know. Possible? Certainly.

This is not court and if I were on the jury I would actually be a fair one. In fact I am the kind of guy who a prosecution would not want because I can always come up with another explanation. The best he can hope is that the defense can prove someone else with them shot him and I don't think that would even help as AH drove him to where he was killed and then covered it up after. That is not obstruction but murder too.

Did you not listen to the last charges? He provided financial support to the two other suspects to flee the country...thus the aiding and abetting charge.
wow I didn't hear that.

This is tragic, sad and pointless. This brings on the same sense of dread and anger that came with the Boston Marathon Bombings and the Tsarnaev kid. Young guys with options become killers.

My reaction to the arraignment video is that Hernandez did not look surprised by a single statement made by the prosecutor. No raised eyebrows, no leaning over to say something to his attorney. The prosecutor laid out a detailed time line and connected the dots. Hernandez did not look defiant as much as he looked like he knew this was coming.

If found guilty, Hernandez should be punished as severely as the law permits to send a message to other young men that there are merciless consequences to crossing that line between fantasy about violence and committing irreversible acts. Same for Tsarnaev.

Hernandez deserves a fair trial. He has the resources and representation to get that. Let's hope the police got this one right.

Last, I hate that this will always be tied to the New England Patriots.

huh? nothing on twitter or news says this and i didn't hear it

I think the reason he allegedly killed Odin isn't simply because Odin talked to people he doesn't like. It has to do with more than that. I'm assuming it has to do with gang rivalry or drugs but the prosecutor didn't go deep into that because it isn't relevant right now.

Most people assume the two other occupants were the guys at Hernandez's house the next morning. But those two guys were relations, one being the uncle of Hernandez's girlfriend.

The prosecutor, however, noted that part of why they don't trust Hernandez with bail is that the two men who were with him were given one of the rental cars, and got out of town scot-free the night of the murder. It sounded like Hernandez has not told the police who those men are, nor do the police know who they are. In fact, the prosecutor mentioned that one of the men in the video matches the verbal description given about a man who accompanied Hernandez when he was bothered by a Jets fan in Providence last month.

Why would the prosecutor say all this if the occupant of the car was one of the men who was at the house last Tuesday morning?

Your guess is as good as mine. That said, I doubt the Prosecutor would tip their hand on that until they had to. It would give the public and media too long to slander witnesses and taint the jury pool.

I find it hard to believe they could have this level of surveillance and tracking of the car and people on the night in question and not have any clue who those other 2 guys are.

But again, I'm just hypothesizing, I could absolutely be wrong.

Re: And the Hernandez charges are....

AH is a damn monster and I hope he gets gang raped in prison for the rest of his miserable pathetic existence....

You know, I'm sorry, but no one deserves to be raped.

Re: And the Hernandez charges are....

honestly man? WTF is wrong with people, after listening to that extensive and detailed timeline, how could ANYONE in their right mind think the man is innocent. He shot his buddy 5 times in cold blood, 2 of which were while he was on the ground, on his back, no doubt pleading for his life..he pointed his 45 Cal hand gun at his chest and pulled the trigger not once, but twice to ensure death...he was seen carrying the same gun(which is still missing) minutes later by his OWN SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM...

He lured the dude out with the sole purpose of killing him, Odin knew what was coming, thus the text messages...AH is a damn monster and I hope he gets gang raped in prison for the rest of his miserable pathetic existence....

It has absolutely nothing to do with what anyone thinks. It is ONLY what can be proven.

This whole blood thirsty mob mentality is out of control. I think he's guilty, but the evidence really doesn't prove he killed him.

Which is all a moot point because the gun charges alone are locked in stone and he's going away for a long time.

It's extremely likely they have more evidence than what they cited in court.

Not only that but they held their cards very close to their chest. We had no idea up to the court hearing that the evidence was overwhelming and that Hernandez would be charged with murder in the first degree.

I would not be surprised if Bob Kraft knew about the charges beforehand.
He contracts with the state police for route 1 details and with local police
for stadium area details.

drugs...gangs...he's got it all i bet

Just watching the unconcerned, uncaring look on his face in the court room is kind of disgusting. Perhaps he thinks his lawyers are that good that they can pull something off. Hard to see though.

I thought I heard him say the same thing about helping the other two flee, but it was very quick. What wasn't clear is if both were still on the run. I would imagine that if they were they would both be arraigned as well, cooperation or no cooperation.

I agree. I wouldn't be shocked if they did get him off but the gun charges will be impossible to beat. He will go to jail the question is for how long.

I only thought he just looked stupid.

im so pissed about him, i actually liked the guy...

football players, some are heavnly gifted and some are plain stupid, AH's is both.

All he has to do is consult his director of security.

Everything points to him being guilty.

But I don't really see any concrete evidence that can prove he is guilty.

They don't have to prove it to a mathematical certainty. Beyond a reasonable doubt not beyond all doubt.

How so? A bullet in the car, footage of Hernandez with the gun and some suspicious texts might be enough to put him away if there is some testimony putting him at the scene and killing Lloyd.

But that's not overwhelming evidence that Hernandez pulled the trigger. I'm not apologizing or standing up for the guy, but what has come out as evidence that he actually did it?

Now - this is all extremely strong evidence that he was complicit in one way or another, no doubt, so if it is true then the team absolutely made the right call letting him go and, again, I'm not saying he's innocent.

This could all come down to witness statements but I am sure that the Bristol County DA is not going to rely on those statements for obvious reasons.

They are going to continue their forensic work and their search for the weapons because based on today's recitation, they are about halfway to having what is needed to put on a case.
