Patriots trying to trade up to #6

Hopefully it's too get cam newton  .

On a serious note though, this wouldn't be done until the selection is about to be made though would it? Would be sweet to get an elite pass rusher. And if they could pull it off get Pouncey too(although I do like Mark Ingram).

Ice boxes in Alaska. That's what this is reminding me of. BB is pulling the wool. And teams are buying!

I think Cam Jordon will be there at 17, they don't have to move up for him. I have not seen a mock with him going earlier than 17 - But I'm sure one exists somewhere.

You need to read more than Kiper and McShay.. Jordan has consistently been gone by 12-14 in many mocks

I could see 17 & 33 for something like 6 & 168 (early 6th that the Browns got from Denver). That way they get a little more value and another late round pick.

Especially if they already have a deal on the table to move back from 28 into the 2nd and acquiring a 2012 1st for a team to move up for one of the QB's.

Should be fun to watch.

Gosselin has him going to the Pats at 17 with his final mock today.

I really, really thinks this is just a smokescreen. I cannot picture the Pats moving all the way up to #6 to gamble on 'Dr. Quinn medicine woman' working out as an OLB conversion project.

FWIW, Gosselin has Quinn falling to #20 in tonights draft.

With this team, anything is possible on draft day.

seriously doubt it's true, never is when we hear these rumors

also, why would the Patriots leak this? I doubt they;d be negotiating with a team if theyre leaking the Patriots business, and I cant see BB letting that rumor go out, calling BS on this one.

Prediction: Pats trade up to #8 with Tennessee to get........ Nick Fairley. My thought process....

First, consider this bit from Don Banks of cnnsi.com, who has Fairley going #8 to the Titans: "The Titans would love to land either Washington quarterback Jake Locker or TCU's Andy Dalton, but somewhere later in the round (in the No. 14-20 range), so they'll explore any trade options. If Gabbert somehow lingers, Tennessee would pull that trigger. If the Titans sit tight, they'll take Fairley and feel confident they're getting one of the draft's slam-dunk top 10 prospects." The Pats sit squarely in the middle of that 14-20 range at 17, and one of those QBs should be there by then. If there is no QB run in the first 7 picks, Tennessee might feel pretty sure that there will be a QB for them at 17.

Then, consider this bit from Pete Prisco (I know, I know...everyone here hates him) on Nick Fairley, who he has ranked as the #1 prospect in this year's draft: "I don't understand how people have dropped him down the board. Watch his tape. He destroys guys. And I have talked to coaches who like the kid. I did as well."

I agree with Prisco, amazingly. I think Fairley, especially in a disciplined environment (like New England's), will be a *monster*. He can play DT or, in a 3-4, probably a DE as well, but a very disruptive one for sure. I know he didn't play in a 3-4 at Auburn, but he has a TON of talent. Really quick, powerful, can just beat people up...put him next to Wilfork, who commands a double team at all times, and Fairley would be free to abuse people one-on-one.

So NE trades the #17 and the #60 for Tennessee's #8 and a 4th rounder next year. The Pats then take Fairley and Tennessee grabs either Locker or Dalton.

Then, with the #28, the Pats trade down into the 2nd round, adding a 2nd round pick in 2012 as well.

With the #33 pick, they take Derek Sherrod to shore up the OLine.

With the pick they grabbed from the #28 (say around the #45 range), they grab Danny Watkins, completing the O-Line rebuilding.

And with the #74, they get Ryan Williams, the dynamic RB out of Virginia Tech.

So to recap the results of their first five picks:

- DT Nick Fairley
- OL Derek Sherrod
- OL Danny Watkins
- RB Ryan Williams
- add a 2nd round pick in 2012
- add a 4th round pick in 2012

This instantly upgrades the defense considerably, rebuilds the OL, adds a major playmaker at RB, and adds a couple of picks in 2012.

Of course, like pretty much everyone else, I'm almost guaranteed to be wrong.

Pfffft yeah I remember when they moved up to get LaRon Landry. And when they moved up to get Sean Taylor too.

Perhaps it was someone at a lower level in the Browns Org leaking trying to generate interest to drive up the price of the trade for the Pats or whomever they are negotiating? Pats may have since called off the deal once the leak was in the news, but that doesn't preclude the fact that they could have been negotiating with the Browns for the 6th pick.

I think it is more likely that there were some negotiations to determine what the price would be to move up and that was turned into the Pats are trying to move up to #6.

Lets face it, not every org is as tightly run as the Pats.

And Daryl Robertson. And Vernon Gholston.............

I would be excited if the Pats traded up to get a stud DE. By the way, since when were we able to like other comments? Is the forum trying to become like facebook? lol

It's a resurgence of Rep discontinued years ago
I liked Rep much better because there were many posts that EARN thumbs down
