Schefter: Branch to New England for 4th round pick

this board is happy about absolutely nothing. No matter what happens, this board will ***** about it. unbeleivable.

Not true, if we had traded for Vincent Jackson I would have had to wipe off my screen.

the one thing I love about Branch is that he comes to play. I remember him in 2005 losing to the Broncos as he was crying on the sideline. I think he brings some character and experience into the lockerroom.

remember Branch has wons Superbowls and Moss hasn't.

Maybe you're just not smart enough to get the point I'm making.

Every team has missed on 1st and 2nd rounders, and tons of 3rd rounders never even pan out.

Just because you can't comprehend what I'm saying, or don't agree with it, doesn't make it any less valuable to people with more than 11 braincells to throw a Super Bowl party for.

I get your 'points', I just think you want to piss people off and offend them.

I posted in another thread a question as to whether or not TB has the power to get guys fired (Maroney, Moss). Now I have to ask the same question regarding hiring guys as well.

I have some reservations about Branch's ability to stay healthy, having only played 16 games once, in '05. I think he'll help a great deal in the locker room, but i wonder how much he has in left on the field. I really think this guy is brought in as a on field coach for guys like Tate, Edelman, and he young TE's. I think a 4th is high for guy averaging 44.25 receptions from 06-09.

I'm not going to be convinced by anyone that Branch is worth a fourth round pick next year. Whether it's Denver's or their own, a fourth round pick is pretty steep a price.

Branch needs to get Brady something special for Christmas (genuine solid gold handled hair cutting shears). Since I've no doubt that Brady had a hand in the efforts to reacquire Branch from Seattle.

What I want to ask someone who knows... Is there a deadline for when a team can release a player who's under contract? I ask that since I wonder why New England couldn't have just waited for him to be released. How do I know he would've been released? I don't... But I've a feeling that Seattle might have if they didn't have a sucker... I mean... If there weren't a team with a serious interest in trading for him.

This was about a team being patient and New England didn't exercise patience on this. Who exactly was New England in competition for acquiring Branch? No one, I would guess.

For anyone concerned about giving up a 2011 4th, that is projected to be a shallow draft. We have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds.

Branch = Welker? Just older.....

will Welker give up his 83? Oh the drama for the ink stained wretches...

Good one Mike! Couldn't have said it better myself.

A fourth seems about right to me but you have to wonder how pass-happy-Pete would give up anyone with anything left in the tank.

Power? No. Branch is not here because Brady likes him, he's here because BB feels he can contribute immediately. And he's not replacing Moss, he's complimenting Tate.

I'd rather have Aaron Hernandez, who was last years 4th rounder.

yeah but we have Denver's 4th, Minny's 3rd, a Carolina 2nd, Oakland's 1st

not too mention our own 1-3 5-6

or did we give our 6 away to get the 3.... not sure....

doesnt really matter. We are rich in picks:).

W/e Makes Brady happy I am game:)

You're all right, a fourth round pick is so freakin' steep. It's not like we'll get another when we trade back four spots from the first round this year.

Would you be convinced that Maroney for Branch was a good trade?

Because that is what happened.

I bet Moss is happy he left New England... Time for him to go downhill...Enjoy Minnesota!

Never Leave NE!

I get your 'arguments', I just think you want to piss people off and offend them.

Is this really what you consider a valuable contribution to the discussion? :)

If I were going to speculate about your intentions, I would assume you're like many people on the internet who are eager to disagree with popular decision-makers... some call them contrarians, and argue that they only take this stance for the sole purposes of telling the internet "I Told You So" at some later date. Then you get to be that guy who was right about that thing the coach did that time that was a bad idea.

Anyways, it seems like at this point in the thread, cooler points are starting to prevail.

I'm laughing here as I read your post. The sad part is you are right and BB will tell us all about value...

Seattle had nothing to gain in cutting him since he's a vested veteran and they were on the hook for his entire 2010 salary whether the played or not. Now the balance of that salary is paid by NE. He is also under our control for another season if we choose to keep him. He is the only WR we could have acquired who can play in this system this week. There is no guarantee any other WR we acquired could ever play in this system, including one we draft.

I take a shower, get changed and go to work and all hell breaks loose. So Shefter reports the trade of Branch for Maroney, I mean the 4th round pick. I imagine that has already been said. I also imagine someone asked about contract/salary$$$?

Umteen pages in an hour it took to shower and drive to work...It would take longer to read than its worth at this point.

If his legs are healthy and he is now considered healed and durable enough, he will be a good fit.

Sea 51/67 games 3.73 receptions per game 46 yds a game and 15 TD's

NE 53/65 games 4.02 receptions per game 52 yds a game 14 TD's

Honestly he was not that different in cities. I like the trade and have no problem with a fourth given up. Also in the NFL I have heard teams can not eat contract money. Also during a uncapped yr why do people care about the money?

Regular season stats were never Branch's strong point anyway. His true value was in the playoffs and critical points in the game. He always seemed to raise his level to the situation.

Everyone keeps underestimating how good Brady is. Moss sure looks great tonight .

Vikings are going nowhere.

Brady will make Branch look better.

.

I asked 2 or 3 times and no luck. If you find out would you kindly PM me? I've googled also with no luck.

I THINk he has 2 years left on his current deal, no idea if it's been restructured or what.
