Guess what? We do have him.

Guess what, I was answering this post below. Guess what, we also have Ornberger and guess what we also have Branch. Guess what, a fourth rounder may not appear to have a lot of value if you hold Ornberger up as an example, it's a different story if you use Hernandez.

It's a fourth rounder people, it's not going to become the next Randy Moss. Price was a third rounder and he probably won't even play this year. What would you rather have? Deion Branch or the next Rich Ohrnberger?

Or Terrence Wheatley!

How about stop throwing in names and start adding something of value to the discussion?

I don't mind giving up a fourth round pick for a veteran player since the Patriots will still have a lot of draft picks. But I don't like the pick up of Deion Branch. I think his knees are shot and he won't contribute much.

I definitely agree to this, I want to see the likes of Chung, Ninkovich, Cunningham, Brace become the enforcers this defense needs to actually strike fear in people.
Watching the Vikings they are scared of the Jets defense, nobody fears us right now I think next draft is going to be incredibly defense heavy in the first 2 rounds.

Yes, the defense isn't really feared right now, but the guys that have the potential to be the playmakers and have opposing offenses be afraid of are Mayo, Spikes, McCourty and Chung.

As for next years draft, I think the Pats will look more on the offensive side of the ball and probably at the RB position with one of their first picks. Also, on the OL. The defense has already drafted a lot of impact players in recent years, the team is just waiting for them to develop

Could the people who value the 4th so much please pick someone else as an example of who we could draft with it other than a guy we already have? Thanks.

Apparently, the 4th round is chock full o' can't-miss prospects who are better for the Pats than a guy who already played well here.

Man, I wish we'd drafted Aaron Hernandez.

Guess what, the point is that the draft is at best a 50/50 proposition.

The armchair GMs crying over the lost 4th rounder are probably the same people who think Belichick can't draft his way out of a football helmet.

Seriously, I could maybe see this kind of bellyaching over a 3rd, because at least it's a pick you're hoping will turn into a starter.

But even NFL insiders consider a 4th rounders a good pick if the player makes the roster at all.

Some of you have to either be trolling.. or just plain ******ed.

No shyte, especially for a team that's already loaded with draft picks. People are acting like we just gave away two firsts.

We're likely to have 3 of the top 35 picks and 6 of the top 100, we can lose a 4th in what is basically Maroney for Branch. I like this trade, nothing to lose really and some upside.

They say you never forget your first love...

I didn't like the way he left, but by the time he did I don't think Brady did either. Now that's history.

Maybe he has to issue a public apology.

this board is happy about absolutely nothing. No matter what happens, this board will ***** about it. unbeleivable.

Highlight of a TD from a few weeks ago.

I keep hearing his knees are shot. I dont know who people are watching. His knees have legit wear and tear but it hasnt affected his ability to turn, cut and pivot. His speed is slower but its not noticeable in games.

How it works around here is when we trade players for draft picks, they're useless and we don't know what to do with them other than stockpile and trade them. Then, when we give one up for a player, they are very precious, valuable things that we have just tossed away without thought or rationale.

Very nice summary...amazingly accurate.

Maybe you're just not smart enough to get the point I'm making.

Every team has missed on 1st and 2nd rounders, and tons of 3rd rounders never even pan out.

Just because you can't comprehend what I'm saying, or don't agree with it, doesn't make it any less valuable to people with more than 11 braincells to throw a Super Bowl party for.

The Pats were fortunate to get Hernandez at 4th round value. Do you think he would last to the 4th round again if the league knew what they know now? If the Patriots trade a 7th, will we lament that we could have drafted the next David Givens for him? What about a 6th rounder, that could be used on the next Tom Brady! Point is the draft is a crap shoot. Branch is a known commodity and will help this team.

Same basically terminology and concepts, although I would agree the offense does look a little different.

New WRs have to learn a whole new language/concepts. Many WRs have said our offense is significantly more complex than most around the league.

Branch learning a new play is like learning the meaning of a new english word. A new WR learning the whole system is like having to get around Paris after one week of French.

Thanks. I would imagine it's quite different from what it was during those days, else it would be easy to know what each team is doing.

who cares about giving up a 4th rounder when we have 6 over the first 3 rounds??

no brainer deal even if Branch contributes minimally. the upside is worth it.

This reminds me: i would like to openly encourage all of the top college players to smoke weed so they fall to my team in the draft, as apparently the other teams think that college kids don't smoke weed whilst in college.

Sea 51/67 games 3.73 receptions per game 46 yds a game and 15 TD's

NE 53/65 games 4.02 receptions per game 52 yds a game 14 TD's

Honestly he was not that different in cities. I like the trade and have no problem with a fourth given up. Also in the NFL I have heard teams can not eat contract money. Also during a uncapped yr why do people care about the money?
