Would you trade 2 low firsts for a top NT?

i agree with everything you said he is by far the best 3-4 NT and if ithere is no CAP is worth 15 million a year. i just don't see any one giveing the pats two #1's

Agree with everything but that $15 million figure. That's almost twice the franchise tag value for a DT. Cap or no cap, there's no reason to pay anyone double the top contract in football, unless you're the Raiders.

Correct. $8M a year is fair. I can see someone overspending and paying $10. More than that is ridiculous for a NT, no matter how good.

I'd absolutely entertain the idea of two picks inside the top 15 of round 1 for Wilfork. We did take a future first round pick for Seymour which I believe was fair value. 2 for Wilfork would be insane.

That said, all things being equal you'd want to have a replacement in mind as 3-4 franchise nose tackles don't come around in every draft.

Where was our all world ILB then? They can't tackle a guy in the hole?

Wilfork is supposed to fight through double teams and cause congestion in the hole...did he do that or was he just blown 5 yards back?

If you're telling me that our defense full of #1 picks give up 83 yards on the first play of the game, right up the gut, right past our #1s, and the key of teh whole thing, all world Wilfork,...well it wasn't his fault. Then we need a scheme change cause we suck. How many 83 yards did the colts give up with their defense of little minature players?

Definitely. This is the guy who gave up the 83 yard run that sank our season.

Take a 1st and pick Dan Williams of Tennessee. 6'3" 320 and he'd be as good as Wilfork after about 1/2 a season....or play more 4-3, which I think we should do anyway.

Wilfork wants top $, sorry Charlie.

I'd trade 2 first rounders for some better posters

I'd resign Wilfork and use my picks to get a pass rusher and a wide receiver.

We are not getting 2 1st for him when its known he will be franchised and then will holdout.

You can sign a franchised player to your team and then give 2 1st if the original team does not agree for a trade.

if vince is holding out say week 1 then his value dips and i can see him going for one 1st

Would I trade Wilfork for two 1st round picks? That's a tough one. He is the defensive anchor for this team, but you can do a LOT with a pair of 1st round picks. I think if I was offered that deal, it would be a a tough call, but yes I'd end up trading Wilfork for a pair of 1st rounders. But I just don't thinking anybody would be willing to offer two 1sts for him.

Cody the DT from Alabama. I read He weighed in this morning at 370,and growing.

Mt. Cody is also 6'5'', not 6'2''. Granted, neither Wilfork nor Cody are in ideal shape, the weight is more spread out with Cody.

wilfork was injured

If we get cody the guy with hugh weight and motivation issues it will perfect company for brace on the inactive list and buffet line .

wilfork was injured

Yes he was. And still managed to lead the team in tackles that day which to me speaks volumes about how valuable he is and how not so good some of the guys playing behind him may be. That said, I'm giving Mayo a pass because it's entirely possible he was never 100% coming back off his knee injury.

But the bottom line is Wilfork is part of the solution, not part of the problem. But hey, maybe when he leaves we can get Steve Martin back to play NT a-la 2002 when the Pats couldn't stop the run at all.
