Sounds like the Steelers are holding out one last ditch effort to trade Foote rather than release him outright. If Belichick is interested, he should offer a sixth or seventh rounder for Foote to avoid a bidding war.

$1.5 million for a guy in his prime who can start inside? Jarvis Green is getting $2.5 million in base salary to be a back up. The guy had one down year largely because the Steelers were trying to get Timmons starter ready since they dedicated a first rounder on the guy.
I know people are always saying we should sign recently cut players, but Foote does seem like a decent fit here. Also, he has had great production his entire career. Even with splitting time with Timmons last year, he still put up good numbers:

The issue will be what we do with McKenzie, Guyton, and Bruschi if we want to bring on another ILB
