That's a nifty basket of day-1 picks, especially this year. Off the top of my head, I'd be mighty happy if they could end up with at least 3 players from this list of a dozen:

CB Alphonso Smith
CB Darius Butler
CB/S Sean Smith
DE Tyson Jackson
DE Jarron Gilbert
LB Connor Barwin
LB Clint Sintim
OT William Beatty
OG/C Max Unger
OG Eric Wood
S Louis Delmas
WR Brian Robiskie

Anybody else care to offer a dozen?

I think first day focus will not be on LB or CB

Additions:
S William Moore
T Eben Britton
G Duke Robinson
G/T James Meredith
S Rashad Johnson

Agree with:
C/G Eric Woods
DE Tyson Jackson
DE Jarron Gilbert

I have read that britton is the biggest risk of the first rounders to not be cut out for LT due to his lack of foot speed

my hopes:
DB - sean smith
OLB - connor barwin
OT - beatty
OL - eric wood
OL - jonathan luigs
S - delmas
LB - sintim
DE - jarron gilbert

Britton is a RT. To draft him as a LT is a mistake in scouting. That being said, we could use an upgrade at RT.

I'm sure BB trades one of these picks down for next year so we have 3 left.
It appears LB/OL are 2 picks we Should go after but BB could surprise us.

A solid DL/DB with the 3rd would be a solid value but a player at another position might drop that BB feels he can't pass . There will be one surprise i'm sure. Can't wait till draft day.

Here is my mock draft for the Patriots assuming they keep all picks(unlikely).

1. Jamon Meredith OT
2. William Moore SS (from Kansas)
2. Darius Butler CB (from San Diego)
2. Shawn Nelson TE
3. Johnny Knox WR
3. Jason Williams ILB (Compensatory)
4. Kevin Huber P
5. Will Johnson DE (Compensatory)
6. Devon Hall SS
6. Jaime Thomas OG (Compensatory)
7. Dallas Reynold C

I have a few questions with this
1)No OLB
2) Jamon Meredith is a reach in the first round and porbably at #34 as well
3) William Moore is also a reach at #34
4) Darius Butler will probably not be around in the mid second
Every thing else is ok. switch Moore and Butler, and switch move Meredith to the last second (or to the middle one and move the saftey of your choice to the last)and plug in a OLB with the first and were good.:)

The Patriots are known to reach for players and only care about their board.

I believe the Patriots are pleased with the OLB they already have. I don't think they are going after any in this draft, probably just get a few as UDFAs.

Jamon Meredith is the 7th best OT on the board, and OT's are going like crazy, so if they can wait, he might not last until the 34th overall.

William Moore before the draft was considered a top 10 prospect, and even if he's a reach at 34, he still is the top Strong Safety and SS is more important than CB, since the Patriots only have 2 starting Safeties on their team.

Darius Butler might not be around, so switching SS and CB might be ok, but consider that the Patriots already drafted 2 CB's last year, so it's not as important in this draft.

I would like to see Eric Wood with one of the 2nd round picks

why?

For '09 OLB, RG, and S are of greater need (ILB too if you don't move AT inside)

For '10 DL, LT, CB, TE will be of greater need

We could score a perfectly good C with a 4/5th this year.

Wood is a three position player and possibly an emergency RT. The Guard crop is thin this year, but top Centers who can play Guard at the level we need are available starting at the top of the second round.
