Yes Ray Lewis isn't what he is and I think his comments cloud peoples judgement but he is a great LB.

Living in the Baltimore market, I see him play most weeks and I am not impressed. He's good when he's unblocked and he is good in coverage, but to me a "great" LB should be able to take on a block and stop the run, which with Lewis usually ends up as a tackle 8-10 yards downfield (actually it often ends up in jumping on the pile and then celebrating wildly).

Please, explain.

Urlacher- consistently rated as one of the "best" LBs in the league, but never freakin' plays because he's hurt all the time.

Shockey- had one breakout season, and haven't heard much from him since. He isn't considered much of a pass-catch threat anymore. At least not like T. Gonzalez, where you have to know where he is on every down.

"Add into the fact that by all accounts, Vick is rapper-chain-swinging, jacked-up-Caprice-with-spinners-driving, leather-hat-turned-around-sideways-wearing, punkass ghetto thug, and it is completely amazing to me that he could get this kind of dough and recognition...

The fact that kids wear his jersey all over the place just reflects the sad social "creeping hip-hop-nosis" that is permeating our once great nation (but that's a whole other argument...)

Falcon fans should put his face on the side of a milk carton with the caption "Have you seen our quarterback during crunchtime?"...

(For more on the "Newport News, VA 7th Avenue Vick Bling-Bling Playahz", see: Vick, Marcus...)

I actually heard one scout say during the draft as he was speaking about interviewing Vince Young (and I am prarphrasing from memory):

"We thought we were going to get a kid all full of himself, like a Michael Vick type, but we were pleasantly surprised at how humble he was..."

A "Michael Vick type"...doesn't that just say it all...

(BTW, is it obvious I just don't like Michael Vick? Probably an old VaTech / UM thing!)[/QUOTE]

You can hate on Vick all you want because I certainly agree that he is highly overrated. But I just have to laugh at the fact that a Miami guy is ripping on an NFL player for being "rapper-chain-swinging, jacked-up-Caprice-with-spinners-driving, leather-hat-turned-around-sideways-wearing, punkass ghetto thug."

You pretty much just described every player to ever come out of the U with the exception of Ken Dorsey.

And Oh yeah, I can't believe that this thread has gotten this big without mentioning Charles Woodson. I would take Law, Hall, Bailey and Ellis Hobbs III over him any day.

TO is not over rated. I'm sorry.. Chad Johnson? Are you crazy?? The guy is a top 3 receiver in the league!
And someone said Eli Manning.. he was in his 2nd year and brought a very average team to the playoffs..

Yes Ray Lewis isn't what he is and I think his comments cloud peoples judgement but he is a great LB.

ROY WILLIAMS??? THE GUY IS AWESOME!!! Are people looking back at the highlights on espn when Santana Moss beat him twice to win the game??? Roy williams is still young and is pretty good playing the pass defense.. But damn strong tackling and playing the run..

Now I haven't watched every player on the list, but I have with a lot of them and feel I should voice my opinion..

Lastly, I love Brady and his game but to say Ben Roethlisberger is not over rated.. I think you need to go back and look how the steelers beat Indy.. Ben had a solid day.. They changed their offense in the post season goign from a run first to a pass first.> Ben and Tom are going to go neck and neck for years..

The Steelers and Patriots might be neck and neck for years to come as far as playoff races go, but Rberger has a longgggggggg way to go before he's even anywhere CLOSE to Brady's neck.

Not defending him but he is 1 down, and has a lot of years to go.. PITT has always had a great front office so that, like Brady, will aid him to return to the SB.

Really.... I believe the RAVENS switched to a 4-3 and beefed up front to help him out. His problems and any MLB in the league is when a guard or center gets in there way.. MOST ILB, have problems shedding blocks..
And I think the comment of 8-10 yards is way over blown.. That would make them the worse run team in the league and they aren't even close to that..

P.Manning!

Really?? What Qb would you take after Brady? Some posters don't like McNabb, even though he brough his team to 4 division titles and 1 SB.. And he has never had a good running game..

The thread question should have been asked what players are good, excluding Patriot players.. I bet the thread would be dead :)

I thought about this when i woke up and the first person that popped in my head was Nate Burleson. Maybe i was thinking most overpayed but he is defintely overrated.

Who is more overrated than Nate Burleson?

Note sure how you could say Nate Burleson. Definitely would fall into the over-paid, but not over-rated. Unless you see them as the same thing.

Ray Lewis, John Lynch, Ben Roethlingsburger, Michael Vick are my top 4 OVER-RATED players.

Manning is great during the regualr season but when the pressure is on he chokes.

AFC Divisional Game 05 - He choked
AFC Divisional Game 04 - He choked
AFC Divisional Game 03 - He choked

Hate Manning all you want. Lord knows I do! But he has earned is spot in Canton.

Not overated in the least! Just not as good as our QB! :-D

Look, it's not his fault that he has to coach the team, run the offense, AND play Quaterback at the same time. That's a tough bill for anyone to fill once you put playoff pressure on top of it. Until they get a coach or OC with the cahones to take the reins from Paymetons and make him JUST do his own job, look for history to repeat.

There are a lot of overrated QBs led by the most overrated of all - Favre. Then I'd say Culpepper and McNabb are overrated. Vick is probably overhyped, but I don't think he's rated as a top 5, or even top 10 QB, so I wouldn't call him overrated.

The most overrated non-QB, IMO, is Randy Moss. Followed by Kris Jenkins, Urlacher, Ray Lewis, and Dallas' Roy Williams.

I would agree that Favre is overrated NOW, but at least he had his day of clutch delivery and earned the acclaim...

Vick has done squat and he is one of the NFL's most popular athletes!

That is kind of funny, isn't it? LOL!

God knows the old alma mater has had it's share of punks (Michael Irvin, the Blades Brothers, Ray Lewis), so I really can't defend that.

If it's any consolation, I have been just as hard on the Miami players that disgrace the U...

We have had some good citizens come out of there, too, though...

Just give me minute and I'll think of one...

You mean the 7 games he's missed out of the 96 he's played in?

You mean like last year, when he had the best year statistically since he was a rookie?
