Belichick's transparency with Uche

I assume that most people here check out Reiss' Sunday column, but thought this was worth flagging

Belichick has (rightly) gotten a lot of flak for various things in recent years, but this approach is exactly the right one, and I'm guessing maybe not that common. Well done by him

He mostly gets flak for mediocre drafts and free agent signings in recent years. The rest is mostly noise.

Simply because it's not his MO. Never was one for such communication.

Last couple years and really since 2020 he has done so many things out of character for him.

I feel like I've heard stories of Bill being very considerate with players regarding trades/releases. This struck me as Bill as usual.

Remember when Bill had him playing MLB his first two years.

How do you know he was never one for such Communication. Because he's been so open and up front with Reporters in the past?

Whatever fairy tales you have to tell yourself, ahmed.

Uche was and is what he was at Michigan: a pin the ears back, get after the QB, third down specialist.

Can he play assignment football? Nope.
Can he hold the edge? Hell , no. Freakin’ WRs like the Cheetah can easily block him.
What about pass coverage? No. He’s short and can’t be trusted with his football intangibles.

What Uche has is speed and the ability to get around the tackle on obvious passing downs.

WTF would you draft a guy like this so high? Second round I remember. And did BB the consummate “I’m smarter than everyone else” hubris move up in the second round to get him like Joeslow Williams?

Ruining another thread with the draft 20/20 hindsight. BB's hubris, wrong draft slot, shouldn't draft a kicker so high, on and on. Posters are so smart. This was a thread about BB communicating with the players. Yawn! Can't even stay on topic.

I am an atheist so I don't believe in fairy tales. Hence my very realist view of Belichick.

You go by the media interpretation of Bill and not what he's really like behind the scenes.

Bingo.

Dude sucks - absolutely ****ing Sucks - without Judon.

And yes Bill did indeed use additional capital (71 & 98 for 60 & 129) to acquire him, even though the "pass rusher" would've very likely still been available at #71 anyway... If not at #87 where Jennings was taken.

Ahmed has got the pulse of the inner dealings of Bill Belichick locked down. After all, he’s an arbitrator in player and staff meetings and works about as closely with the team as Ben Volin. He’s a true Patriots insider.

It’s this and the Joeslow Williams pick in the second round that aptly illustrates the futility of Belichick as GM.

Every GM has hits and misses, but these reaches—and there are many more in BB’s tenure—show why this team as currently put together has a talent deficit.

Interesting takeaway but ok. Sounds like you have an axe to grind. You might want to turn your internet and TV off when we start winning with BB again.
Sounds like you've had your internet and TV off for the last few years.

Picket sucks like Mac
Picket's suckage is different and there's a lot less of it to see.

Well, his OC got the blame and the axe.

Can't blame the WRs, but the OL is ripe for 12 months of finger pointing.

Anyone who doesn't see that has to have Bill's butt-cheeks blocking their view.

I recently saw some talk about Bill dropping back in the draft and how that allowed KC to grab a top CB. I don't follow the draft or college ball so I had no clue what they were talking about but if true that's another blunder.

And what about the guy that the Steelers took when the Pats moved back to get even with the Jets? Is he a player too?

This is what's so great about the Belichick system. If you don't give coaches titles then the only people fans can place blame with when things go wrong is the players. It's been working pretty well.

Not accurate.

Patricia and Judge got blamed for Corky Mac.

The reason those two received criticism (far less than Jones gets just from you btw) is because we knew their roles clearly, which was my point. That and they blew chunks.

Above all, Belichick will get the credit for things when they go well
