guys, vote every single day...

our guys is losing

Thanks for reminding people. He's still in 3rd place, but the gap's narrowing a little. While in some respects, I wish this was over (it's exhausting, not to mention sressful.....), there are still 12 more days in the voting period after today---plenty of time to make a difference. I'm always a nervous wreck when I check the new standings in the morning, b/c there's no way to know how many people are voting during the day. And it's a lot to ask of people--to remember to vote every day for 3 weeks!! Of course, I hope people do, but it's tough. I send email reminders to about 500 people every day, so I appreciate you reminding people here. And if anyone fogot, there's still a little over one hour to get a vote in for today.

:)

It's me again, with today's update:

Craig's still in 3rd place, and still 3 % behind 2nd place. He had been inching closer to 1st place, but the 1st place contestant's percentage surged up again based on yesterday's votes. Craig's at 20%, and she's now at 30%.

She's from the city of Chicago, not a smaller suburb. We suspect that votes are being made from computers within the Chicago school system. I know that we have the support of the Franklin community and that Middle School students are voting during Computer Lab, but the numbers pale in comparison w/ a city like Chicago. I know it's alot to ask of members of this board who don't know us personally, but if there's any way you can think of to expand the voting base, we could use your help!

And of course, don't forget to vote at www.espn.com/earnyourstripes or https://r.espn.go.com/espn/specialsection/kelloggs/

Thanks!!

I'm feeling discouraged this morning, but not giving up yet!!

:(

I voted for our boy 5 times today. It will make my job easier if i know how many votes he needs to go to ESPN.

Mine, too!!! If my theory is right relative to all the computers in Chicago public schools voting, your guess is as good as mine.... Someone I know in Franklin who does PR work for a living has been contacting everyone on our behalf--radio stations, papers, professional sports teams (Pats included) trying to get some statewide attention to increase votes. I'm hoping there's some response. I'm not giving up, but chances are bleak unless we can figure out a way to get more global attention. Unfortunately, I don't think you can do it alone, but you have my permission to try!!!!!

I'm calling Roger Goodell. That girl is a cheatin' cheater.

I'm still working on trying to get more voters. I sent messages to 2 WEEI talk show hosts using Craig's My Space page, and one to Don Orsillo. No idea if they'll respond, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Still time to vote tonight. I'm afraid to look at the standings tomorrow. If I'm right about most of the leader's votes coming from computers w/in Chicago Public Schools, her lead will get bigger and bigger as the week goes on. I don't know what else to do.

Thanks to all who remember to keep voting.

I feared the worst this morning, but today's standings are essentially the same as yesterday. The leader went up by 1 % instead of a huge margin. Craig's still close to 2nd place. With everyone who can pitching in to increase votership, we can still make a difference! While it may feel like this has been going on forever (or at least it feels that way to me!!!.....), today marks the halfway point in the voting period. It's halftime, and come from behind victories are always the sweetest, aren't they????.... ( I borrowed that last part from someone on these boards--' hope you don't mind???)

Keep voting at
www.espn.com/earnyourstripes or

http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/specialsection/kelloggs/index ............

.......................Once a day, from every computer you can get your hands on!!

Thanks to all.

Voted for Craig, he's still in 3rd

Thanks. We appreciate every vote. If anyone has trouble using the links posted, they changed something and the 2nd one no longer works. New one is http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/specialsection/kelloggs/index

I wish I'd known about this before sening out email reminders to 500+ people this morning and printing up over 1,000 flyers with a url that no longer works!!!
It's been that kind of day...

From what I can tell, the www.espn.com/earnyourstripes link still works.

Please don't lose interest in this effort. It only takes a minute and is for a good cause.

'Sorry--I'm editing this after seeing that I already posted this new info. this morning. I didn't remember doing it, and I just did the exact same thing elsewhere.

ive seen this done with my own eyes in a different poll...so its real

get someone who is really good at programming...they can use Java to take create a program, which repeats in a cycle of opening the page, voting for craig, closing the page, and opening and voting again

(its bending the rules, but just a little bit)

Are you really Bill Belichick in disguise (whom I love, by the way...)??
;) Just kidding!

Unfortunately, I don't think we know anyone who has that kind of knowledge. Are you referring to some "bot" thing that happened here? It was before my time, but someone else brought it up as a joke.

I've gotten other tips from people about deleting cookies, usng proxy servers or programs that give you fake IP addresses. I've talked a few times w/ a guy in charge of the voting website, and he assures me that they can track where votes come from and eliminate all but the first vote from each computer. I want to believe that the voting system is fair, and that it's an even playing field, b/c that's how it should be--particularly when there are kids involved. But then I see the kid in the lead's percentage skyrocket in one day, while everyone else's stay fairly steady. It doesn't seem right and it makes me want to strike back any way I can. Does that make me a bad person??

In any case, (and it's probably for the better b/c we New Englanders don't need another sports scandal on our hands....), no one I know is very good with computer stuff. I'm going to have continue on as I have been--pleading for votes from everyone I know and those of you I'm just getting to know.
Time for bed!!

I strongly doubt bots are involved. The folks at ESPN run enough polls to have put into place methods to prevent that type of fraud.

Craig's campaign manager, sugarpop, as been working the various sports message boards, local radio shows etc.

I am sure the other campaigns are well. However, if I was Nichyira's campaign manager I would also be posting at site such as NAACP. There are four whites and one minority. Would not be too hard to tap into the sympathies of any organization that supports minority empowerment to generate the interest and votes. Likewise, I might consider also posting at NOW, which would benefit both Nichyira and Maddy.

I am going to vote for Craig daily, but his odds are thin. And there is no reason to suspect cheating.

But we can still call the girl a cheater because she's winning and we don't know how she's winning.

That is the way things are today. Maybe ESPN is cheating we know that they have tapes of all this kids.

Last word (at least from me) on the whole cheating issue. I'm operating on the assumption that the folks who designed the voting system have safeguards in place to prevent (or at least make it excruciatingly difficult) for any cheating to occur. I do think Nichyria has an advantage, living in a large metropolitan city. It says "Boston" under Craig's video when it begins, but we don't live in Boston. Some of the Franklin schools are letting kids vote during Computer Lab, and it's great that they're doing that, but if we actually lived in Boston and Boston public schools did the same, there'd be a big difference in the number of votes generated.

In my opinion, it's not a racial thing at all. I think for all the kids, it's just easier to generate votes from people in your own community. I know the residents of Franklin have been more supportive of Craig than anyone else. I'm assuming the same is true for Nichyria. There are a lot more people in Chicago that in Franklin, MA. I don't know specifically where the other 3 kids in the contest actually live. I did some research on Nichyria only to try to figure out how it could be possible for her voting percentage to rise so quickly.

I've been concentrating my efforts on reaching out beyond Franklin, to try to increase his chances. The virtual lack of media response hurts. Channel 5, as the ABC affiliate, is our best shot, but no response yet. Craig was interviewed Monday after school for a local paper, and as of last night, the reporter hadn't even tried to call anyone on the list of contacts we gave her, to complete the story. It's frustrating for me. His chances of winning might be slim, but I'll keep trying b/c when this is over, I want to feel like I've done all I could, and not like I've let him down. People here--who have taken the time to read about this, to respond, and to vote--have been great. Even if you don't think it will make a difference in the end results, please keep voting. It makes a difference to me, and to my son.

Here are the links, tomake it easier:

www.espn.com/earnyourstripes or http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/specialsection/kelloggs/index

Thanks for listening--when I started this, I didn't expect it to be so long....
"Sorry about that.

Unfortunately, Yes!! They should send all 5 kids, if you ask me, but no one's asking me!!!

Don't say 'no one' because I asked.:D

I voted for him 5 times today. There is a huge gap between him and the girl.

Blame Obama :pfor it.
