Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

You're telling me that anyone who isn't mentally stable is 'criminally insane'? Holy stereotypes, batman. I guess you've never dealt with people with mental illnesses before.

An assumption well off-base.

As someone who has, I will tell you that most mentally troubled individuals, including many who attempt suicide at some point, are no more 'criminally insane' than you are. They tend to know right from wrong just as well as anyone else.

There's also a big difference between seriously threatening suicide and actually going through with it. I'd know.

Perhaps "criminally insane" was a poor choice of words, but the original point someone brought up is that nobody who attempts suicide, while it is illegal, is actually charged with doing so. My response is that doing so would be pointless, because it's obvious the person has a problem that needs to be treated and not exacerbated. Just as most "criminally insane" defendants are handled when convicted. They go to treatment facilities, not prisons.

Wow, we've strayed pretty far off-topic.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

Alright, this is getting nowhere. I'm going to try to come up with a statement that we can all agree with:

Kevin Faulk exhibited poor judgment in putting himself in position to get arrested like this.

I think we can all agree on that. Some will say that it's because he could just as easily have smoked at home, or had a friend carry it, or whatever else. Others will say that it's because marijuana is illegal and he shouldn't have anything to do with the stuff. It's clear that a message board debate isn't going to resolve that argument, so I'm pretty content to just drop it.

I think we can also all agree that he demonstrated poor taste in going to a Lil Wayne concert. Seriously, Kevin, what the hell?

Re: SMY: Kevin Faulk arrested for marijuana possession

I'd put the number around 15-20 of the 80-man offseason roster, with most being UDFAs and other young players.

You'd have a hard time convincing me guys like Colvin, Brady, Wilfork, Warren, Watson, Welker, the OL, Seau, Kyle Brady, Bruschi, Vrabel, Dave Thomas, Rodney, Seymour, Izzo, Green, Evans, and others do.

Have you ever seen the "Huddle at Home" segments on WHDH? We all know the Pats stick with high-character guys.

The only guys I could possibly think of are Moss, Andrews, Faulk, who've all been known now, and possibly a few others. Jackson? Maroney? Not sure.

Wrong....not even close.

Advice:
Stop pulling number out of your butt

Just like the original number was?

Name 35 players. Name 30. Name 25. Name 40. Name 32. Name 24. I don't care.

C'mon now, we all know that was a team-building device between the OL.

It also made them all look way less nerdy and more imposing, so they had that going for them.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

A) That's not the point. One is illegal, one isn't.

B) I find it sad how many people on this board believe marijuana is absolutely fine. Then again, this is Massachusetts. Not exactly Conservative America. Unfortunately.

Hate to burst your bubble but there are plenty of potheads "Conservative America" too. I'm not one, but most of my friends would hardly ever pass down an opportunity to smoke.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

He's a pro athlete. Athletes have done worse things, like run massive gambling rings that involved the torture and brutal deaths of hundreds to thousands of canines or shoot up strip clubs.

Still love Kevin Faulk, and I know the Patriots do too.

Who here has NEVER smoked erb. Seriously.

I'm sorry, I mustn't have gotten the memo.

Before today, you'd have had a hard time convincing me that Faulk was the type to smoke fat joints and attend Lil Wayne concerts.

So much for that argument.

Like a fan should be and not like some of these idiots in here that would go as far as condoning something like a Patriots player killing his family \

 and  again. That's one of the Top 20 dumbest, most out of left field reactions to a comment I've ever read on a message board.

And, yes, I considered this for a few minutes.

I concur completely thought he had better taste than Lil Wayne oh well.
He always seems so focused on the field, tracking the ball, holding on to the ball, picking up the blitz.
Hopefully this is something he only does in the offseason.

I haven't, but I have nothing against people who do as long as it doesn't affect one's life. And believe me, college (and therefore pro) athletes aren't exactly saints in any department, including this one. You need to get your head out of your ass if you think they are, but there are far worse things in this world (and far worse drugs) than a guy taking a couple puffs on a joint while going to a concert with his friends (and a fair number of athletes engage in such activities as well, so remember that when a player in arrested for marijuana possession, at least it wasn't for torturing dogs or beating his wife).

I'm not just high, I'm drunk, blaspheming His name, watching CNN, smoking a cigarette and giving a reach-around to a homosexual minority!

Oh, you bet your ass I'm sigging this. Awesome.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

You're telling me anyone who tries to kill themselves is mentally stable?

Do you even know what "criminally insane" entails?

Re: SMY: Kevin Faulk arrested for marijuana possession

WTF it's only weed. Faulk deserves the high after the season he had. The medicinal benefits of marijuana are too many to list, among them is it makes you feel good. I used to get weed for my mom who was going thru kemo, it stopped her from puking all the time and gave back her appetite. Against the law, shiit half the law enforcement officers and firemen I know smoke it off duty.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

I drank two pints of beer tonight, which is more than enough alcohol (literally a toxin) to kill a small animal (or possibly an infant). Are you saying anyone and everyone who drinks booze is insane?

Re: SMY: Kevin Faulk arrested for marijuana possession

Its obvious that this particular subject has struck the moderator with a opinionated postion.

Let me first say that really, this thread should be about how the Patriots brass will deal with Faulk, etc, and thats about it.

However,

I did throw out a number of Patriots which I would guess would smoke Pot during the offseason at 35. Really, no one knows but my guestimate was based on attending a public university with a perennial top 25 program and having alot of exposure through my friends to football players. I can attest that this (smoking pot) is a common practice by many players, obviously because of the therepeautic benefits of destroying your body for a living and needing relief.

And just to stir the pot (no pun intended) a bit, I'd also say that there is no questioin to me and many in the scientific and medical fields who would clearly support the statement that alcohol is much more dangerous to users and detrimental to the well being of society because of its abuse in relation violent crimes.
