Draft game, anyone?

I'd like to pick Chicago, :D can someone explain a little more on this game?

I'll take Big D... a few of my buddies are Cowboys fans.

How and when do we play?

I confirm I take Kansas City.

After the fact, it appears my talent evaluation coincided pretty well with NFL folks last year. I was the Saints last year and I'll take them again...unless they only have a couple of picks. Let me look up their picks; beyond #10, IDK.

Last year, we didn't do trades. I'm thinking this year maybe we could. To keep it manageable, how about trades allowed until the draft starts then suspend them?

I'll take whoever i'd just like to contribute!

Trades? I am willing to listen on the 22 and the 28.

Seems like a lot of fun, as a draft lover I'd love to play along.

I'll go with my brain and take the Redskins. After all, I get to listen to Redskins talk radio on my way to and from work and read the Post every day, so I guess that will give me some special insight. Then again, I never would have predicted their coaching choice, so who knows.

I'd say trades might complicate things unnecessarily, although I guess it depends how involved everyone wanted to get. Obviously it would be a bit much for our trades to include players, so if we did it we should only be able to trade picks for picks, and only in keeping with the trade value chart.

That's my 2 cents, but I suggest we not do them at all and just do a straight mock.

I have been involved the past two seasons and I love it. So, I am in again.

I will take Minnesota. If still available. If we need to take two squads (mentioned last year but not needed) I will also take Baltimore.

OK. The way it worked last year was that we gave everyone x hours to post their pick, so everyone had a time slot (using Eastern Time for the avoidance of any doubt). As with the real draft we reduced the time that you had to make your choice after the first round.

Sebman 2112 moderated it and was excellent. Where someone didn't pick (due to not being able to, or forgetting) one of two things happened. They gave a list to someone else (usually sebman) to pick on their behalf. I did this a couple of times, as I am English and live in London (which is five hours ahead of ET).

I used an Excel spreadsheet and gave sebman a list of players left on my board. As an example: let's say I was picking at #34 and I had to log off at #26. I would only need to give him a list of 8 players, ranked 1-8 and he could just pick whoever was the highest on the list.

Where someone forgot to pick, we did a poll. So, let's say I forget to pick at #1. Everyone can pitch in and say "I nominate player x". Then, a couple of hours later you do a poll and the player with the most votes gets drafted for that team. Of course, this relies on people being sensible. If Miami forget to pick, then I can see them needing another Kick returner. No, really! :D

Oh, this is excellent, i'm from Italy, and we are six hours ahead! Before the game will start, do you (or a moderator) post a list of user that can pick when we are offline?
Sorry for my poor english.

Yes, that's exactly what we do. Your English is very good, btw.

Oh, and to everyone not picking at #1. Stack your board, because the Dolphs have soooo many needs that I might pick any one of 10 players...

Can I provisionally put my name down for the 49ers?

Still not completely sure I'll be able to do this, but if I can I'll have some help from a friend :)

When are we looking to start? And can you explain a bit more about the format (is there a thread just for picks, for example) for those of us who haven't done it before?

Yes there is always an official thread board and a seperate discussion board. It works well. Also thread board will have the time schedule too.

Hope I am not speaking out of turn mods ...... just excited.:rocker:

Me too. Seems like a lot of fun to keep me occupied during what's likely to feel like the longest offseason of my life. When do we usually get it started?

You played as much a part as any of us. In terms of when... hmmm, how about two weeks before the real draft? Most of the scouting reports will be up to date by then, we'll have an idea of who impressed at Pro days and so on. That would be the weekend of 12-13 April, btw.

If no one objects I'd like to take Baltimore.
