Raiders fire old friend Rob Ryan

I think thier both good DC's despite getting canned. Rex went in a sweep of all coaches with the Ravens but I thought ESPN said he was a candidate for thier HC job. Rob's D went backwards this year with the Raiders, but that's a scewed up team anyway's and he and Kiffin were kinda thrown together by Al Davis more than Kiffin really wanting or choosing him. I wouldn't mind seeing one of them with the Patriots next year. I've really been wondering how good a job Dan Pea's has been doing. BB seems to spend more time at the bench coaching the D this year than I recall him in other years. Shouldn't Peas be doing that? Is Dan up in the booth?

Do you get many Pats games out in California?

No, he's on the sideline. Usually in a big red shiny jacket, about 5 feet from BB.

He's not coming back here. But hopefully he doesn't go to New York either, because as we saw this year, Mangini is clearly inept at both constructing and running a defense... so I'd prefer to see Mangini continue to fail on his own.

Man, I thought Ryan was doing a solid job there.

Idjits for firing him.

I agree that with a pedigree from both his Dad and BB he can get another coordinator job easily, and Mangini is just the guy to give it to him. Ditto potentially Parcells, although fortunately that's not really likely since it's the HC's choice.

I have NFL ticket plus I went to 3 games this year, but I can't tell which one is Peas.

Even more problematic would be the wholesale change in style the Raiders would undertake under Monte Kiffin. Davis believes in man defense to his core, while Kiffin is a strict zone specialist. With four NFL wins to his credit, can young Lane sell his boss on scrapping his long-held ideology about defensive play?

And that, in a nutshell, is why the Raiders will continue to suck and be known in coaching circles as a "do NOT take" HC job.

When you have to argue with the Owner about schemes...something is wrong.

It's Dean Pees, not Dan Peas
