I'm impressed that you made it all the way through this task. A few suggestions...
Edelman is the best #11, definitely ahead of Bledsoe.
Corey Dillon was the last piece of the franchise's best team (2004), and James White was a major contributor for two Super Bowl titles, so I would consider putting both ahead of Curtis Martin, who people may forget was only a Patriot for 3 seasons. Martin had over 10,000 rushing yards for the Jets and under 4000 for the Patriots.
Move Ted Johnson in front of Johnny Rembert at #52.
Remove Cam Newton from the list. AB shouldn't count either.
You aren't the first person to point out Edelman over Bledsoe... and i'm not disagreeing with you... 1A & 1B as it were... Edelman grew into a great player, where as Drew was starting right out of the gate rookie year... I think its clearly a bias on my part, but i also think people tend for forget just how important Drew was for this franchise because the Brady shadow looms so large over everything...
I like the idea about moving Curtis Martin out of the lead spot... guess he was put there because HoF... next time i update the list, you will probably see Martin at 2, Dillon at 1... but man, james white in 49 really was incredible, wasn't he? .... stuff like that is what makes this so difficult...
Rembert - i think i will keep him there... more ints, more sacks compared to Johnson... Johnson was a tub-thumping run stopper, which really wasn't Remberts game... Remberts pop, scoop & score in the 85 jete wildcard game was truly an epic moment in Pats history...
17 is a black hole... AB is clearly head and shoulders above anyone else who has ever worn 17... so im kinda torn here... i dunno what else to do... Maybe i will put in Elmo Wright and be done with it... he had some great TD dances, albeit for other teams...
As for Cam, I am keeping him in... I might move him to the third spot, bump Tony Franklin to 2... Undecided about that...
Cam has drawn a lot of lightning... i would ask that people remember that is about "best of" at a given jersey number, which is not necessarily the same thing as the 100 Best to Ever to Play for the Patriots...And my intention when i started was to list three guys at each jersey number... but that notion was quickly abused, as there are some numbers that it becomes a "what for" ...
take 12 for example... could I have put Matt Cavanaugh and Tom Ramsey in the 2/3 spot behind Brady? sure, but what for? its not even close... I don't see it that way at 1 ... add to that, there are only three other guys who have worn 1 ... DeVante Parker, N'Keal Harry, Eric Schubert (if anyone knows who he is, i'd be impressed)... So, to me, Cam belongs on the list...
