One of New England’s favorite sons isn’t going anywhere. The Patriots informed Troy Brown today that he will be activated to the 53-man roster this week.

Brown, who has been injured for what would be his 15th season with the Patriots, was informed of the move today by Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

The move could be considered a surprise, with the fact the team is 11-0 and apparently loaded at the wide receiver position with the 2007 additions of Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Donte Stallworth and Kelley Washington. With Jabar Gaffney, a hold-over from a year ago, and 2006 second round draft pick Chad Jackson still with the team, there didn’t appear to be much room.

But about a week ago Belichick intimated that there would be a roster spot for Brown.

ETA: Welcome back, Troy! As for Colvin, yes it stinks that he's gone for the year. However, AD has looked better at OLB than ILB in recent weeks and I think BB agrees as the Bruschi/Seau ILB combo has seen much more playing time than any ILB combo with AD lately. AD in Colvin's spot will look great as long as both he and Vrabel remain healthy. This isn't like going from Colvin to TBC.

Colvin hurt is big... Chad Brown can not replace Monty Beisel let alone Colvin.. Good to see Brown back, but the Karreem Brown goes to prove that the Pats did not care about this draft..

come on, can't believe Colvin is on IR, I had a feeling this was coming though. Sucks. We need Junior to play all season, that is going to be huge. Colvin was playing so good this season, has he played his last game as a Patriot?

Lets hope Thomas (and Seau and Bruschi) can stay healthy.

Also a little weirdo factor: Colvin's 2003 season ended with an injury he suffered against the EAGLES.

We can not afford anymore injuries to the LBs. Wasn't Colvin our fastest linebacker? And did he really look that badly injured? Seems kinda quick to IR him, thought maybe we could have waited on that move. I doubt anyone was calling Chad Brown.

Could be very possible unless he takes a cut in pay.

I'm guessing this means more playing time for Seau and Bruschi, with Thomas moving outside. Or does it mean more time for Woods outside or Alexander inside?

Crap, this is the worst news. Rosie was playing great this year and loosing him is going to be a big blow. I think we are going to see a AD move to the outside with Teddy and Junior playing the middle. Vrabs will stay on the other side.
