Pro Bowl voting: Brady 3rd? lol

Question from an outsider: is this just a matter of Boston being more of a baseball town than a football town as far as overall fan dedication level? I know the TV ratings are obviously higher for the Pats than the Sox, but it seems like the overall passion towards the team is in the Red Sox favor. Case in point this voting, Brady is off to the hottest start of any NFL quarterback ever, and the fan base doesn't have him tops at his position? This is the same city that had Nomar out in front in the 04 AllStar voting over Jeter (who I'd say is just as national a figure as Manning or Favre) and that was when Nomar hadn't played a game, let alone played flawlessly.

Frankly the fanbase has nothing to do with it. Pats fans don't have enough say alone to get him the number one spot. Other teams fans have to vote for him as well.

I don't vote, nor do I intend to. Basically, I don't give a rats asss about the "Pro Bowl", and quite frankly, neither does Brady.

I don't either, but it is a nice little plum and players might have a shot once in their career.

Don't put yourself out, though.

I think you're looking at it a bit off.

Though the fanaticism of a team's fanbase has some effect on probowl voting, they're still just one out of 32 potential fanbases. No matter how passionate Patriots fans may be, they're still not going to account for more than 5% of the voting population.

The other 95% of votes will come from the fans of the other 31 teams, so it's to them that we must look for why Brady is 3rd, behind Manning and Favre.

The answer seems pretty obvious to me: for matters not entirely passing understanding, the Patriots are not particularly beloved right now. Apparently, enough people have been sufficiently turned off by recent events to leave Brady off their pro bowl ballots.

An outsider from Newton Mass????

Shame on you bud.

Actually, I'd be more inclined to vote on players if there was no game. That would help in making it more legit. The voting process will always be flawed with the fans voting as is indicated by the leading vote getters.

I don't know what's more crazy.

Brady NOT leading this.

Or Chris Hanson being voted in.

It's not about Pro-bowls for Tom Brady, Never has been. It's all about the Super Bowls.
Tom ain't going even if voted in. Give it to Peyton. It's his kind of game!! :D

That may be why Tom isn't voted in. He never goes! Oh well, saves him from unnecessary injury:)

If Tom doesn't want to go, he'll decline, but at least he'll be voted in. Also, no Mankins, Koppen, Vrabel, and even Samuel is sort of discouraging. They'll probably still get in with the other 2/3 votes if they keep playing well.

Question. If a player is voted to the Pro Bowl but declines to go will he still be credited as a pro bowl selction for that year?

Also if a player is voted in as an alternate due to an injury (Brady was last year actually I think, but declined himself) does he get credited as being a Pro Bowl player that year?

When I mean credited, I mean among their all-time stats it would add to the number of Pro Bowls category.

Can you imagine the bulletin board material (for next year) if Brady (or most if not all of the other deserving Patriots) do not get selected at all?

Talk about a true measure of disrespect.

How hot a fire could Belichick stoke with that?

IMO I think the way the pro bowl is put together is a joke. There should be no voting, the NFL should get all the stats together of all the players, and the best go to the bowl. That way good players are not forgotten and it doesn't become a popularity contest.

Apparently, you can vote as many times as you want. I voted 3 times already only for deserving Patriots.

Even gave Kevin Faulk a nod. He won't win, but he deserves a tip of the cap anyway.

How may damn people are on this site?

Vote!!

I guess that explains why Peyton looked a tad under-prepared for his game last week.

I giggling over the mental image of him furiously texting his name over and over, late at night while in bed, like a 12 y/o beating his meat under the covers. :singing:

I think it's hilarious that a QB could throw 60 TDs in a season and get stiffed by the fans. That would end the argument about how relevant the probowl is.

That would end the argument about the aggregate IQ of NFL fans. In comparison, George Bush looks like a college graduator.
Yeah, I dont get that, my guess is that alot of fans dont even watch football. I can see Favre getting alot of attention, but manning:confused: doesn't he have like 10 ints to only 16 td's?

I find it odd how many people professing to not care about the pro bowl nevertheless feel the need to click on a link entitled "pro bowl voting" in order to tell people that they don't care what they're talking about.

No player I dislike more then Brady but wow, that's BS. How can you possibly ignore what Brady has done? I don't want to hear any of that "if you take Favre from the Packers they are far worse off then the Pats would be without Brady." That's not the point, measure the success they have on the field, not what might happend if one got hurt. 33 TD passes in the first half of the season and he's not the MVP? Give me a break.

You know wh oshould really be pissed is Derek Anderson who is playing better than Manning, at least statiscally. You could argue that both Big Ben and Anderson should go to the bowl over Manning, sides how many trips should the guy get anyway? This might be Anderson's only shot.

This might be Anderson's only shot.
It could be if they decide to let him go and get quinn in there. Boy I think that would be a mistake though, the Browns are the team that will challenge the Steelers for the division the next 5 or more seasons though, and I think Derek will only get better.
