He fits right in on the colts, who, like the chargers, think stats define players.
Seymour is a stud, who passes on stats, in favor of rings.
What is going on here? I'm a Pats fan too, but this is all very silly.
The Colts defense isn't what it was last year. It's actually decent against hte rush this year. And the Colts DID beat us last year, and DID win the SB last year. It's hard to say they love stats more than rings considering hte role reversal that has happened this year.
Homerism is fine, but let's not be silly.
Freeney would likely be a starting OLB if he was avilable to us. But that said, he CLEARLY is worth alot more $$$ to a 4-3 team than to a 3-4 like us, because he's not that great a fit for OUR style of defense.

You are going to bench Vrabel or Colvin for a guy who can't play the run? Check out which of the 3 get more sacks. You would also be benching one for a guy who gets fewer sacks too.
Not a chance he starts at OLB, and its very doubtful he could play the position anyway.
Dont forget he came into the draft highly hyped. Highly hyped college DEs coverting to 34 OLBs go very high. Freeney slid in part because 3-4 teams doubted he could play OLB. (For good reason)
Because his injury didn't cause Manning to throw an assload of INTs. The media is only interested in talking about missing Colts players if they can use them as an excuse for Peyton's crappy game.

Let's face it:
*None of the Colts' 22 starters would start for NE.
*None of the Colt coaches could even be waterboys on the NE staff.
*Colts overpay their players.
*Pats attract top notch talent that is willing to play at below market compensation.
*Pats could very well go 57-0
*Anyone who doesn't buy this is a troll.

We have bingo!
Losing Freeny affects the Colts more than losing 35 year old Marvin Harrison imo.
The media often underestimates the impact of defensive players, unless they've built up hype on them.
Freeney has been doing his job so well for so long, that there is no longer any hype. Same for Seymour imo. But losing them is going to affect their teams big time. I would not be surprised to see the Colts lose 3 games in a row because KC features a very aggressive defense and the Colts seem to be reeling right now.
Losing overrated players doesnt generally hurt a team. If Freeney missed 5 games, and his replacement generates zero sacks, the Colts lost 2 plays based upon his numbers over the last year and a half. If his replacement is an average pass rusher, their defense may in fact, improve, and if that guy can play the ru, it probably will be better without him, hype or not.
Basing his value on sacks alone makes you clueless. Let's face it, you lost your credibility a few threads ago. Not sure how the Colts are middle of the road (16th) in Rush D if Freeney is so poor. 105 per is much better than 173 per, agree?? Why is it Colts rank so high in Pass yards as well? Could it be as a result of some pretty decent pressure on the QB, Andy?? Or, is our weak secondary, (who lost guys like Harper and David)playing over their heads? Tell us more about the number of players on the roster who haven't played a snap. Tell us again how our draft class was weak.
3.5 sacks, 16 pressures, and 4 forced fumbles is pretty decent, isn't it?

Call the Colts and ask them what constitutes a pressure. I assume it's when the rusher forces the QB to move out of the pocket, to flee, to go mobile, to change the way he throws. Certainly, they have a baseline, something coerces them into tallying one up. Look those other guys up. Not sure if they have a lot of oressures to go with their sacks. 1.8+.4 is 2+ per game. Is there a Dlineman who averages 2 sacks a game? How many of them are there? Are you pissed because his contract ups the ante? Freeney has been better at stopping the run, granted, that delay draw still works, but I think he has improved this area of his game. In the end, he does what is asked of him. If the D-Coordinator says rush the passer, he rushes the passer. So your answer is that everyone on your defense must be good because the numbers have improved?
Pressures is not a legit statistic. Do you have numbers for the 50-some other guys that have more sacks? Please describe what constitues a pressure, because he gets about 1.8 of whatever those are to go along with his 0.4 sacks each game.
Are you really telling me that Freeney is a better pass rusher than the 50-some guys who gets more sacks because he gets more 'almosts'? Can you even quantify that he gets more 'almosts'? How many 'pressures' do all the DLs that get more sacks than him have? Oh, and of course, we would need to account for the statistical difference of the DEs that are asked to also play the run, and aren't allowed to make pass rush moves on every play.
Well, the NFL OFFICIALLY SAID "GOOD CALL" on the PI on Wayne, you gonna buy that??By the way, that pressure stat is apparently made up.
The other stats on the page are made up.
It lists Freeney with 34 takcles, 29 solo, 5 assists, but NFL.com OFFICIAL STATISTICS list him with 21/18/3.
Since those are inflated by 62%, should I assume the 'pressure' whatever that means is also inflated by 62%?
If oyu are going to argue using stats, they need to be official ones, not something made up.
