It's easy, and only takes a few moments."But San Diego's new defensive coordinator, Ted Cottrell, was defensive coordinator for the Bills and Jets, both AFC East teams, in the Belichick period. Perhaps Belichick has spied on Cottrell's calls before and took out the tapes of the spying rather than handing them over as Goodell demanded. Was New England cheating again Sunday night, when the Patriots advanced the ball with such ease it seemed they knew what defense San Diego would be in?"

Dear Mr. Easterbrook,
Don't you think D Coords change their signals often?
If you don't, you're an imbecile.
Why? Simple. Because players move from team to team year to year. In almost every game this year, Cottrell will be facing enemy players who used to play under him in Buffalo and NY.
I hope this realization doesn't make your head hurt too hard.
Yes that was him. The exact quote is as follows... it seems ESPN was simply hoping time would make people forget... anyway...Wasn't this the clown who was kicked off ESPN a few years back for his anti-semitic harangue? Maybe HE should have been "banned" from writing about the NFL again. ***clown.
For the sake of accuracy, can a mod change the title of this thread, which states that this is an opinion espoused by ESPN, and not one of its columnists.
If an anchor had said this, or it had been written in an ESPN.com news article, you could claim that this was the editorial view espoused by the network.
It wasn't. It was an opinion espoused by a weekly columnist. Yes, ESPN is milking it for page views on their front page, but that's their job.

"Disney's CEO, Michael Eisner, is Jewish; the chief of Miramax, Harvey Weinstein, is Jewish. Yes, there are plenty of Christian and other Hollywood executives who worship money above all else, promoting for profit the adulation of violence. Does that make it right for Jewish executives to worship money above all else, by promoting for profit the adulation of violence? Recent European history alone ought to cause Jewish executives to experience second thoughts about glorifying the killing of the helpless as a fun lifestyle choice." - Gregg Easterbrook
Stop and reflect for a moment people. Given what you know about Belichick and the Patriots and contrast that with what you read about them in a concerted effort by the media to discredit EVERYTHING they've ever done. Then think about other issues like international and national news, science reporting (my particular field & beef) and how the media piles on wholesale and as a consequence of the 24/7 presentation of their message how everyone comes to believe the mainstream media viewpoint, except for a few. A sobering perspective on the sad state of journalism.
You tell us, lawyer, with lawyer husband.Honestly, isn't this starting to get a wee bit into "libel" territory?
