Has your Patriots football enthusiasm dropped?

Because of Goodell, my enthusiasm for everything related to the NFL has dropped. I doubt I'll ever care as much about the league as I did pre-deflategate, even after Lying Roger moves on.

I wasn't as fired up as usual about the 1st 4 games this season, but I am in full on November football fanaticism mode now. And it's not just Patriots- I have tonight set aside to watch the Raiders- Thursday nights are reserved for football, and Sunday is a football marathon. I get annoyed at bad refereeing & awful play and turn games off sometimes, but I always come back for more.

I'm still just has stoked as ever pretty much about the Pats, but interest in the NFL as a whole has definitely dropped.

I feel as though I now view the Pats as this separate entity, that merely happens to play against teams in the NFL. Watch the entirety of all Pats game, and only watch bits and pieces of other teams games (and that's usually only if it's a team that has ramifications tied to the Pats).

Quite frankly I don't want to sit listening to guys like Al, Cris, Simms, etc in the booth if I can help it because it makes my brain want to hurl.

Pats regular season has been...meh...for me for many years now, outside of the obvious big games Indy, Pit, Denver etc...that have impact on HFA. But other than that I know we are going to the playoffs its just a matter of how many home games we are guaranteed if we keep winning.

I chalk that up to knowing we are always a playoff team. Now in the playoffs that is a much different story.

As per the NFL, no I still watch every game every week, most live and some on shortcuts. I have 6 tv's in my basement and they are fired up every Sunday.

I'm still totally energized by Brady and Belichick and the team he has built. I'd like to think that my long time enthusiasm for the Patriots will remain after the BB/TB era, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see how I feel when the time comes. I think I lost a little bit of the chip on my shoulder after they got the fourth, but I'm still energized for them.

Post the deflategate nonsense, I've lost interest in most of the rest of the League except insofar as a game or team can have an impact on the Pats. The only exception to that is the Saints because they are the only bunch of guys who seem to have stood by Brady. I want them to win.

I pretty much only want teams to win if their victories will help the Pats...otherwise, I really don't care. I'll watch a little of the Raiders game tonight because they're a team that directly affects the Pats this year, but I certainly won't stay up until midnight to learn the outcome.

With you on the Saints.

Before Defamegate, I was definitely a Pats fan for life, and hell, I probably will be anyway. Right now, the biggest motivator for me is seeing TFB and BB stick it to the league, so once that's gone, how excited will I be? I really don't know.

The rest of the league can EABODADIAF.

Is it just me, or has anyone else's enthusiasm dropped for football and maybe even a little bit for the Pats? I mean I was pretty hyped about the week 1 win, but that's really all about it for me. The wins have been "Cool." The losses have been "Oh well." Even the AFCCG in Denver last year, while it sucked for about 2 days, didn't have a lingering effect on my mood like the 2010 divisional round loss did. I wonder if it's the Super Bowl win that has kind of "relieved" me as a fan and made me not so tied up in how I feel after a win or a loss. I wonder if it's because of Defamegate. Maybe I'm just getting old. There used to be a time where I watched every game and cheered like it was the Super Bowl. Now nothing really excites or bothers me. Apparently I'm not the only one (with the decline in NFL ratings) but it's weird that I'm less enthusiastic about the team and not just the NFL

I wanted to ask you if you shared this with your doctor already ..
but then I saw its the whole epidemic going on ..

Although we have to credit Pete Carroll to announce it first ..

Not really I am enjoying watching Brady more so now than ever. Its amazing to see him still improving his game at age 39.. and did I hear that he is even running faster? The ageless wonder. I watch good match ups whether their the pats or not.. I won't watch Tampa vs Carolina. But I really enjoyed watching Pitt Vs Dallas.

No way I'm losing interest in the patriots. Was a patriots fan Before BB and Brady and I'll be a patriots fan long after they retire until the day I die. All you bandwagon fairweather fans out there who disappear when BB Brady retires..don't let the door hit you on the way out. ******* goodell won't take away my love for the game .

Love football love the patriots love the history of the patriots

Yep, Goodell has sucked even my casual enjoyment of watching other teams play out.

Lol maybe I'll see how I feel during the playoffs. I know that sounds entitled and spoiled but I guess knowing that, barring you-know-what, the Patriots are going to be in the postseason kinda makes the regular season seem like watching 5 hours of previews before the award-winning movie

I enjoy watching the entire season because its like a new season of your favorite show.. its a long journey from preseason to a Super Bowl and its a lot of fun to watch the team evolve over the course of a 16 game season.. its what makes the end so satisfying if they do manage to win another Superbowl.. it would be like watching just the Season Finale of each season of The Walking Dead or another show you might watch

Pats fans who stop watching the patriots when BB and Brady retire are dead to me. Once a patriots fan, you're a patriots fan for life.

For the Patriots themselves, no. For Bob Kraft, yes. For the NFL, definitely YES.

Can't stand the league with Goodell.
Stopped my 50+ years of going to games making Kraft money after Deflategate.

Like Reverend Maynard I have watched parts of a couple other games while working out at the gym and tried watching last Sunday's games at home. Shut them off. Booring. Did not care. Have not watched any SNF, MNF or THF game that was not the Pats.

Even Pats games are not the emotional roller coaster they have been for me for decades. If its a late night game, I DVR it and watch the next day except Seattle which I watched until the Gronk fumble, went to bed and next day erased. Not gonna suffer thru a lack luster effort.

I'm in as long as Tom & Bill are there. After that...casual fan status.
Still enjoying reading Patsfans.

Last year's AFC Championship losses normally would have sent me a month long depression.......except that we WON the year before. As tough as the loss was and oh how I really wanted to beat Peyton, I thought......"can I really sit here and cry because we didn't win the Super Bowl two years in a row?"

To do so would be extremely spoiled, so I was over the loss rather quickly.

2014 made up for everything. I want ring #5 but I NEEDED #4. Now that I have it I feel at peace and realize anything extra is just a bonus.

Outside of the Pats, my enthusiasm for the NFL has gone down. I used to spend my whole day on Sunday watching the games (Pats or no Pats). Now, I'll actually be doing stuff around the house or playing with the kids when the Pats aren't on.

You might have missed the point of the thread.
Keep up the love part, by all means.

HELL NO!!

I find that, with each passing year, I love women and alcohol more but Goodell's league a bit less. Pats still rule though.
