OT: Geno tore his ACL, per Rappaport

So Geno starts the 2015 season as the QB NYJ and one ass-whopping broken jaw, and a blown out knee later he played about a quarter, and his contract is up.
Now they go back to the guy they insulted with their contract offers, welcomed back as a savoir then benched after 6 games with 2 other QBs on the roster, both of which they are afraid to put in a game.
SOJ

Since Aug 11, 2015: - Geno Smith's jaw was broken by IK - He lost job to Fitz - Replaced Fitz on Wed - Tears ACL in 1st start since '14

Ge-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:D

Yes, the "chip on my shoulder because nobody believed in me" lament is decidedly nauseating when your performance earns you that lack of faith.

And good work calling out the entire organization after the $12 million payday in return for a 66 QBR. Go Jets!

that sucks for geno. tough luck

he should gtfo out of new york!!

He played very well against the Pats in the one game. Shoulda won the game but DA made an amazing catch to help the Pats seal the win. Tough break for the kid.

So who backs up Fitzpatrick now, Petty or Hackenberg.....??? What were Hack's numbers in the last preseason game? At one point he was 6/26 for 20 yards and it was uglier than that.......

Given his contract situation and the obvious lack of enthusiasm for him on the part of the current Jets crew, I don't think that's going to be any kind of an issue.

Sound like next years starting QB for the Browns, he will fit right in. And it's a huge step up for him.

d%#*!@t! I wanted Gee-No! to be the Green Beans starter. Now with Fizzlepack getting his job back they'll probably win more games. :(

The way the NY tabloids see it, Petty is the "QB of the future" (yeah, i know, we've all heard that before...and remember the Sanchize...).

In their mind, Geno was just going to be in there until the fans booed him off the field or the Jets hit the eight loss mark (whichever came first...my money was on the booing) and would then be replaced by Petty.

There were some who argued for starting Petty from the beginning of the season and investing a "development" year in him, but the fans and management had fantasies of reaching the playoffs with Fitz...which is why they gave him 12 mill.

I honestly feel bad for the guy.

Exactly, people talk about Cleveland but the Jest training camp is the real Quarterback grave (well, Cleveland too). Geno is bad, or at least he did show nothing special in NY, but under some program with minimal quality maybe he would be a serviceable QB in the league.

But this guy started with the wrong foot from the get go, complaining about being drafted in the 2nd round, promising playoffs, he is a mess.
