He has not been nearly as reliable on FG kicks and it even goes back to the AFC Championship game.

I hope he figures it out or this a problem this team doesn't need.

I don't know, but the only way he can make up for the AFCCG is by kicking a game winning FG in the playoffs.

We were lucky we didn't have to rely on him in the 2014 postseason.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe he was in a mode during his streak of kicks? Momentum can benefit a person or team.

Though, I am more worried than ever that he "may" miss an important kick or two down the line this season and he doesn't appear as a sure three points right now.

Carpenter (who is pretty good) also missed a kick from similar range.

Ghost is still awesome, his Kick-offs have been spectacular all season. I don't think the misses are related by any psychological affliction, such as lack of confidence.

Dan Bailey also missed a FG today, even the good kickers miss, I still need more evidence to make my mind about a possible decline.

Anyway its 2 already, its totally possible we will see some go for it in 4th downs instead of a 48yard attempt in some games.

He missed in the AFCCG, this preseason and two during the regular season. I'm not ready either to call it a decline, but its almost like that miss in the AFCCG has caused an internal battle issue.

He missed 2 all season in 2014. Only 3 all of last year too.

If it's a problem from that AFCCG then I hope he can get his head straight quickly. We are not a SB contender with an unreliable Ghost.

If he's missing these kicks because of a lack of confidence, he should be cut immediately.

He'll fight through this. Sometimes a player just isn't feeling it and needs to reset by changing up their training regimen or technique. Who know's what he needs to change to get back on track, but let's not throw in the towel.

Ghost was AFC Special Teams player of the week in W1 against Arizona and hit there a 47, 53 and another shorter one. Which goes against any narrative that wants him to be in decline or whatever.

Sometimes missed kicks just happen. If he continues being so erratic over the rest of the season it's a different story but for now I don't see any reason to worry.

I don't think it's a confidence issue. Why? Because, if it was, Belichick would go the Jimmy Johnson route and do exactly what I just said should happen.

That's only if he admits he has a confidence issue right? I could see that being tough to tell the coach.

That's what happened with the Cowboys. Belichick would probably know, though. I think it's more likely that he's trying to work through something. Whether it's a minor injury or a tweak of his mechanics, I couldn't tell you.

If you HAD a confidence issue, and Bill called you in to "chat" about your misses, do you really think you'd be able to avoid breaking down under questioning? You'd end up begging to be cut.

He seems to be back in 2012 mode, which culminated in me not wanting him on the team anymore. Luckily, he recovered from that and became the best kicker in the league. Let's hope it happens again.

SMH.. OMG.. He missed an 48 yard field goal. The world is ending.. He sucks. Bring on Robbie Gould..

Seriously people. WTF are you all thinking! 48 yard field goals in the rain are no gimmee. Acting like it's a 22 yard chip shot that he shanked wide right by 10 yards instead of by a foot is just laughable.

maybe he's seeing ghosts...altho nothing went right yesterday

He also missed a 39 yarder in Week 2 and looked shaky throughout the preseason. I'm not in the camp that it's time to panic just yet, but to act like he's been his normal self is also taking it a bit too far.

He's 9-9 on XP

Hes been elite on kickoffs

Yesterday was a long miss in some tricky weather.

The 39yard miss v MIA was bad.

I'n golfing terms, I don't think he has the yips.....yet.

My confidence in him still hasn't really recovered from the missed PAT in the AFCCG. And his performance since then has not been reassuring.

But than I look at some of the garbage other teams have to deal with at kicker. Gost may not be delivering on the big contract he was signed to, but it could be a lot worse.
