 Reche will make a very good no. 4 receiver, with Moss, Stallworth and Welker in front of him. Too much higher up the depth chart means trouble.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Reche as the Pats #2 receiver and lining up opposite Moss or Stallworth with Welker in the Slot.

I think that Gaffney has a good chance to be shipped to the Chiefs or possibly Green Bay.

Still like to see the Pats ship Kaczur to the Browns for Davis or Thompson.

Why would you want to get rid of Kaczur? I thought he was doing pretty good before his injury. Do you see O'Callahan as a better fit?

That is very possible..esp if one of the rooks looks good...

If Samuel does not sign, and nobody is placed on IR/Reserve PUP, then the 5 jags I would dump, in order, are:

WR CJ Jones
WR Chris Dunlap
P Tom Malone
CB Gemara Williams
One DL out of Ken Smith, Santonio Thomas or Zach West

Including Troy Brown, there are currently 13 WR on the TC roster; Jones and Dunlap are obvious cuts. Why they were signed in the first place is a mystery.

With TC roster spots at a premium, 3 punters is a luxury the NEP cannot afford. Baugher clearly, and surprisingly, outperformed Malone in NFLE.

Even without Samuel and Williams, there would still be 16 DBs on the TC roster. Lil' Gemara won't be missed, at all.

There are currently 11 DL on the TC roster; for a 3-man line, 10 in camp is enough.

There have been more than a couple reports that Kaczur's attitude and work ethic have been questioned by the team. Kaczur isn't exactly young, either. He's only a year younger than Matt Light, the elder statesman of the O-line.

While Kaczur did seem to hold his own against Shawn Phillips and Shawne Merriman, that is what would make his tradability higher.

As for O'Callaghan, unless he gets that one of those special mouthguards, I see him as being too much of an injury potential. I think that the RT position is WIDE OPEN and that Oldenburg has as much of a shot at earning it as either Kaczur, Britt, or O'Callaghan.

Unless the pats are devastated by injuries, this will not happen.
And i honestly hope you don't believe this is going to happen if everyone is healthy.

As far as trading Gaffney goes, i don't know where you get the Chiefs or Green Bay, did you just make that up?

I just can't see how we could keep Caldwell and trade Gaffney when it was proven that Gaffney stepped up the most when it mattered most and Caldwell Fizzled.

If anyone should be traded it's caldwell.

Hey...no copying allowed!!!! I mentioned 4 of those on the opening post of the thread....(and I did say possibly an OL/DL)....Are they the right answers though???

The elder statesman is actually Steve Neal at 31 this year...but you are correct, more see Light as that ES; and Kaczur is older than the usual 3rd year player...heck, there are some in the league who have plated double the time of his at that age...
I do think his departure is possible..there were many rumblings last year about work ethic etc etc..and if one of these rooks shows promise or a Britt or Barthelmes steps up, we may see him gone.

Well, Neal will be 31 this year. I didn't realize he was that old. That could be ANOTHER reason the Pats drafted Elgin. Elgin and Barthelmes could give Neal a run for his money... Hmmm.. Maybe the Pats can send Neal to the Browns instead of Kaczur..... or even with him to get Davis... What a coup that would be....

An interesting note is that when Dillon ran up the middle (either gap), he only managed 3.3 yards while Maroney managed 4.9 yards. However, when Dillion ran to the right side (between Neal and RT) he managed 4.9 YPC while Maroney managed only 3.9 YPC. And when both ran outside the RT, they did very poorly. Dillon for 1.6 YPC and Maroney for 2.3 YPC.

The RT position continues to be a carousel of players and it would be nice to finally have someone there for more than 1 year.

My big problem with Brady is that he chokes in the big games. There is no way we will win a playoff game with him in charge. I prefer Michael Bishop to him. As for Seymour, well, we all know that BB prefers 260lb DEs who can drop into zone occasionally, so he's gone.

I'd like to see Bishop and Bledsoe in the same backfield at the same time. Let's bring them both back.

I like Neal...I think he stays...the reason for trading NK was his attitude..work habits..Neal is very athletic and has solid work habits why would they get rid of him?? I think they like him and he stays....

Why trade Neal? Well, if he doesn't perform well in the Zone Blocking. Also, as I mentioned, when the team was running the ball to his side, all the RBs had issues. It could have been an issue with the RT situation, but I don't believe that all the blame rests there.

Also, its about value. If Barthelmes, Elgin or even Hochstein prove to be just as good in camp, then Neal loses some of his value to the Patriots and could be moved to a team like the Browns who are in need of an above-average guard.

I tend to think Zone Blocking is better for him as he is probably the most athletic lineman on the team. It is about value..but I just think he's more of a fixture here than a part to trade away. It's about value, but what comes into value is more than just on the field play...a team player that works hard is more of an asset than someone that does NOT have that deep a work ethic.

I re-read the top of the thread and, sure enough, I mentioned the same 4 as you did. Great minds, indeed, think alike.

The reason that I chose a DLineman to cut is because there is a slightly higher ratio of DL in camp (11) vs. the probable # of available spots on the 53 (7). For the OL, the ratio is currently 14/9. In addition, there are 3 rookie OLinemen to evaluate, and it would be foolish to release any of Britt, Hochstein or Yates until the evaluations are complete.

Now, if Samuel does eventually sign his tender, then the 6th jag to dump should be either Barthelmes or Mruc.

It's funny....Pats1 also has WR Dunlap and P Malone going...I just think a UDFA/tryout rook on a team with so many WRs is the odd man out. Same with Malone..no reason to keep 3 when Baugher was the best in the NFLE. Pats1 has DB Anam, DE West, TE Nordin and a PUP Res for DB Eddie Jackson, whose injured knee will prevent him from playing for a few months. We bith also have WR CJ Jones and CB GWilliams...and it's OBVIOUS that the UDFAs..and those more obscure are at risk..but these cuts MAY come down to what positions have more injuries now and maybe MORE players are needed at one position for practice. But I think it very hard deciding between players who have good work ethics.. THIS is where the positional coaches will have to make judgements Potentials are important..but the numbers game is the nottom line. Who knows,,there MAY be a few surprises?? RBs Hill, Smith TE Kranchick..the DLs like you mentioned OR?? Who knows. Even at this stage it WILL be interesting.

I think I'll take Jackson off my list.

But the Pats are right at the limit as we speak. As soon as Oldenburg and Rogers go official 2 moves will have to be made.

Are you counting Troy?? Heard a report he was official..I guess u are...Oldenburg is not yet??? Thought he signed at Colorado?? Makes sense...although in many ways THAT would be a good move..he won't be ready for a few months..so??? Why not do that move prematurely?? What does that mean as far as TC goes???

Yep.

There are 89 active players right now.

Minus 1 (Samuel) leaves 88.

Minus 3 (NFLE) leaves 85.

Minus 3 (Meriweather, K. Brown, Elgin) leaves 82.

Minus 1 (Oldenburg) leaves 81, or 1 over the limit.

The reason I don't count Oldenburg is because his signing has been announced as official yet. On July 13, the Lua/Richardson/Hilliard signings were all announced as official. On July 17, the Troy/Rogers/Hairston signings were all announced as official. But still no Oldenburg, although I did read that tidbit from Reiss.

But I have no idea why the Pats are at 81 right now. I'm guessing we'll see a cut coming today.

somtimes its hard to now exactly when it is official..when the paperwork is signed?? when teh league office has it? When it's on teh NFLPA site?? Not sure what the gating factor is in that...unlike cuts which are time based. I still will go with a WR as a first...Jones/Dunlap..but again, only BB and the coaches know what is going on.
