Welcome Nate Washington

Surprise so many are still high on Harper. I think he's just another preseason superstar like Tyms and Bam Childress.
I was always partial to Shockmain Davis.

Brandon Gibson redux.

Gibson had 2 seasons over 500 yards in his career. Washington has had 1 season under 500 yards in 10 seasons 15.5 yards per avg over the last 6 seasons

Harper is a waste of roster spot. He and/or Dobson will be gone after pre-season.

He did follow up that monster preseason with that one catch. Plus it's not like the guy fumbled away the season or anything.

I like Washington. Hoping this is to add to the depth instead of to swap out for Dola. I like the competition and wondering who's going to miss the cut from a really good looking WR group, let the guys outplay each other for a spot.

Nice! He'll be a solid WR3 for us, great under-the-radar signing. He's been playing with terrible QBs for the better part of the last decade, so I think people may be surprised how much he has left in the tank.

I think the Pats go 3 deep at TE this year, since they're presumably going to run a lot of 2TE sets. Wouldn't surprise me if they go 5 deep at WR, with Edelman and Hogan being the absolute locks and Amendola, Washington, Dobson, Martin, and maybe another signing or two down the line competing for the last 3 spots. My gut's still telling me Amendola's the odd man out given the potential savings that he'd provide, but we'll see. I didn't mention Harper because I think the position being devastated by injury is the only chance that he ever sees the roster.

Big part of that 08 Steelers run if I'm not mistaken. Shame he wasted away in the South afterwards.

He's also older than dirt. He'll finish behind Jules, Gronk, Bennett, Lewis, White, DA, Hogan and maybe even Martin and Bolden in catches. There's only 1 ball to go around. Figure around 380-400 completions. Lotta hands to feed.

Brady's not going to put the ball in the air 800 times.

Sure was, and not coincidentally that was the last time he played with a decent QB.

In his six years as a Titan, the best QB he played with was that brief stretch where Kerry Collins wasn't awful. other than that, he had Vince Young, Jake Locker, Matt Hasselbeck, a half season of Fitzpatrick (who I don't even remember playing for Tennessee), Charlie Whitehurst, and Zach Mettenberger. Then he followed that up by spending last year catching passes from Ryan Mallett and Brian Hoyer.

I don't think anyone was definitively worse at QB from 2009-2014 than the Titans. A couple teams were like the Browns were on the same tier of bad, but worse? I don't think so.

Cleveland was worse...at least Young, Locker, Hasselback, Fitzpatrick, and Collins had moments where they looked like actual NFL players (though admittedly other than Young and Locker most of those moments occurred with other teams). In that time Cleveland had, among others, Brandon Weeden, Colt McCoy, Brady Quinn. They were so bad by 2013 they were signing former Jay Cutler backups to start games with Jason Campbell and Josh McCown.

Danny Boy ain't a 2 either! Washington puts up better numbers with a significantly worse QB. And, is much cheaper. What's not to like?

I have no problem with adding Washington it's getting rid of Amendola that is really dumb imo. I will never understand making the team worse for no reason, especially when they have a great shot at a championship.

Washington had a 50% catch rate and that's not even close to the 75% Amendola put up and the 69% Edelman put up. It'd Washington can win an end of the roster spot that's fine with me but he won't be seeing many balls if he is only catching half his targets.

If we did nothing with the money saved, you're right. But, if we use that savings to sign other players or extend current players before they become really expensive. IE Jamie Collins. It makes sense to cut him.

Welcome to the Patriots, Nate, now go deeeeeeeeeep!!

DA hasn't been cut yet. I'd like to see him restructure. There are going to be injuries so keeping him around would give is great depth.

If the right guy it's there in the draft I'm all for bringing them in but they could go, into the season with what they have now for receivers and I would be happy with it as they have size, speed, inside, outside, and downfield coveted as well as redundancy as all the positions.

Gronk and Bennett gives them, the best TE position in football and that's their #1, Edelman and Amendola give them their slots and some outside the hashes. Hogan and Dobson gives them possession receivers with downfield skills and Martin and Washington give good depth going into camp.

I think Washington sticks but I do wonder about Amendola's role.

You would assume as high as they are on Hogan he is projected as ahead of Amendola if he proves he can live up a bit.

If that is the case with Edelman and Hogan both playing a similar position and now the signing of Washington who is outside I wonder how much we will see Amendola besides returns/garbage time/injuries.

I would say the chart for snap assuming Washington is the same exact player he was overall the past 2 years is.

#1 Edelman (outslot/slot) - Hogan first back up
#2 Hogan (slot) - Amendola backing both above up.
#3 Washington (outside) - Martin backing him up

Martin will probably see more snaps than Amendola if this is true.
