We have about $9M of cap space after account for Long and McClellan.

I still think that we have free agent needs at
NT to replace Hicks (or are we going with Brown, Branch, Easley, Jones, Kearse, Kitchen and Vellano?)
CB to replace Brown (we have only Butler, Ryan, Coleman, Roberts, Melvin and Vereen).

Of course, we could upgrade or add competition at other positions.

We have already replaced lots of players
IN OUT
Hogan LeFell
Brown Blount (Blount could still be added)
Cooper Wendell (Wendell could still be added; also Jackson is still injured)
Bennett Chandler
Long Jones
McClellan Mayo
Humber D. Fletcher
=================
We are still waiting for restructures or cuts to the contracts of Amendola, Cannon and Chris Jones.

We are still hoping for extensions of Butler (expensive), Hightower, Collins (expensive), Sheard and Ryan.

I would add Sheard and Logan Ryan to extension list.

Hightower will be the most expensive extension.

Need to also put Bostic in there...the dude can play and I think they traded for him for 2016

Outside of Fairley, I'm not sure there's anyone left considering we have 11 draft picks.....maybe an OL

Hightower will be the most expensive extension.

Any Hightower extension will likely reduce his cap hit, if anything. He has a $7.75M cap hit this year.

Don't you think we need an every down RB also? I'm not being argumentative, I'm really asking a question. I thought Brown was simply camp fodder and not likely to stick, but that is just based on what I read here.

Lewis, Bolden, Gaffney, White, Brown
Devein, Iosefa

I still expect Blount to come back to compete for the even down spot. I do think that Brown has more left. In any case, Belichick doesn't spend money on RB's and could add one at any point from now until the start of the season, and beyond.

Good list. Fairley would be a good get as the Hicks replacement. Who do we want to bring in as CB competition?

I think our team looks pretty solid going into next year. Could use a few depth additions though. I would say:
-wr
-rb
-dt
-cb
-lb

in no particular order, but I like where our team is. Hopefully, we can avoid the injury bug that plagued us last year!!!

work a deal for a corner using Amendola and I will be ready for the draft. A RB and a WR with outside speed would make the draft real easy...

We still also need a Starting LG, a Backup/Future Starting LT, and a Starting-Caliber DE to replace
Chandler Jones' snaps.

if between shaq mason and newly acquired jonathan cooper we still need a starting left guard we are in trouble despite the return of "scar".......

After all, we are paying $2.5M for Cooper. He is likely to start.

Your idea of needs of free agent needs seems likely to be very different from that of Belichick.

I doubt very much if a free agent yet to be signed will start at LG or DE. The backup/future OT is a draft issue.

I will be very disappointed if our starting guards are not Cooper and Mason. I'm also hoping we do away with all the rotating of our interior lineman.

We have sheard long and ninkovich to play de. There aren't any real snaps left to go around.

Add Flowers to that list. The one thing we do lack now that Jones is gone is a DE that shifts inside on passing downs. I don't remember Sheard doing that.

The question is, how much has Long and Nink have left in the tank and How(ie) Long will they be Patriots. :D
