Kraft "trying" to get 1st round pick back

Would love to see a giant lawsuit formed out of this that brings the NFL to its knees and completely dismantles its anti-trust scam it has going on..

The NFL has only two anti-trust exemptions, neither of which is specific to the NFL.

One exemption is the one given to all professional sports leagues by the 1961 Sports Broadcasting Act and allows the teams in a league to collectively negotiate TV rights. The other exemption is the one given to all employers in the country that says they can do anti-trusty things vis-a-vis their workers if those things were collectively bargained for with a certified union and are put into a CBA.

Don't see how any lawsuit, especially a lawsuit about Deflategate-related stuff, would disturb either of those one iota.

His last ditched effort was to send a letter, and get no response.
It panned out exactly how Goodell anticipated, the Patriots got screwed and Kraft bent over and took it. But he did compose a strongly worded letter that was laughed at.

Yes Kraft folded and the Pats did get screwed but Goodell did not anticipate being tied up in a desperate court battle to preserve his precious "I can do whatever I want" rights. He anticipated suspending Brady for 4 games hearing the appeal, denying it and that would be it. He did not anticipate Brady being Brady off of the field.

We more than likely will not see those draft picks back but any letter, article, science project, patriot fan petition etc....etc..... that takes a chip out of Goodell's "integrity" is a positive for me. I hope that continues for years to come in the form of documentaries, released transcripts etc....

I do not defend or rationalize Krafts weakness throughout deflategate and have criticized it in the past but a letter which, I admit, is the equivalent of a poorly aimed lunch room spitball is still better than nothing at all.

about as serious as still wailing about a book that closed almost a year ago

you guys wanna relive ben dreith and roughing the passer again?

The penalty was the loss of draft picks and the first rounder is 4 weeks from being stolen from the team, that infuriates most patriot fans and makes it front and center, not something from long ago. Patriot fans have every right to be furious with Kraft for once again endorsing the worst league commissioner in sports history. All he had to do was say "no comment" and instead he issued his endorsement, it was stupid and tone deaf and he deserves the anger directed his way. He should step down and let Jonathan take over because he clearly doesn't represent his own fan base anymore.

I really doubt that. Every one of his arbitration decisions lately have ended up in court.

Why? Kraft just said today that Goodell is doing a good job. Like it or not Kraft speaks for the team, coaches, players and fans, because he is the only voice with an audience.

I disagree. A letter that is laughed at and ignored only makes things worse.
Why would Kraft request an 'unofficial appeal'? A meeting with Goodell, where he can bring all of his evidence and plead his case, using the wells report context, experts, whatever.
People will say whats the point, its Goodell. Then why bother writing a letter and acting like it was anythong but a token roll of the dice?

I will simply never forgive Kraft. I just want him gone from the Patriots, and the entire family too.

I already stopped rooting for the Revolution because of him.

I am dyed in the wool Patriots fan though and can't move on, and he knows it. I will despise him forever though.

There is a better chance of the Browns winning the superbowl this year than Sh*tdell giving back our picks!

he's not going to step down

I am sure he would have done things differently if he could do them over again, but he can't....I understand the disappointment over the way it worked but it is pointless now. If his goal is to screw over his own team (which makes no sense), he's doing a really crappy job of it......

what we are talking about is one player who may or may not matter than much, and the organization has done plenty to work around that loss......

honestly, the worst thing about losing the draft pick is that there's no value in watching day 1 of the draft.....that's what we are really talking about here

as for the noise, considering the distance the NFL has gone to try to get brady suspended tells you that the most likely outcome even if kraft had fought would have been no different than the result we already have.....kraft was never going to take himself.... I mean the NFL...... to court.....unlike people like al davis, kraft is part of just about every committee of value in the league......yes, he should have appealed, but chances are it would have been no different than brady's appeal and he probably realized that, had his fantasy about the league going light if he went quietly, and, well, you have what you have

but after all the noise, there is nothing that says anything would be any different taking any other path........and to simply make noise to please a bunch of yahoos is ludicrous......it's a bump in the road for an organization that is going to remain at the top of the league for as long as the critical parts remain in place........and that 1st round pick isn't going to change much

sounds like you need to find another team

I don't think he could have gotten, the picks back, the bigger issue to me is continually endorsing Goodell. All he had to do was say no comment, instead he says "Good Job." it makes no sense.

Once again the media succeeds in getting several fans to choke their chicken ...

Some are easily manipulated.

they're just words kicked around by ridiculously rich people.......at the end of the day, how much of a difference does that pick make?

the same characteristics that worked so well for him over the years really blew up in his face......he screwed up by thinking his typical methods would save him some.......the miscalculation here was first how both he and brady completely misread where this thing was going as early as the day after

he got played......badly....and you're right, at this point, it would be better to just move on, but it is obviously bothering him.......I think he feels like every person who gets bamboozled. problem is that he is way to vested in the rest of the matters of the league and it likely does not serve his organization well to simply pick up his marbles, say f*ck you, and go home.....he's always been too much of a business man for that.

I think the wheeling and dealing of the last few weeks is probably a result of a message to BB to mitigate the loss of the pick and prob upped the amount of immediate guaranteed cash to make things happen.

what else are you gonna do besides words?

Screw em' . The Pats don't
Doesnt matter what media outlets questions, etc... If Goodell sits on this until after the draft which is clearly the case, then the pick is lost forever and cannot be awarded back... once April draft has come and gone, Goodell and Park Avenue win
Screw em'. BB doesn't need that stinking Pick. He's already picked up 3 former 1st rounders, I believe. And he's working on another. I truly believe it is not coincidence. BB is making a point. This is the stuff that motivates BB and TB. It just shows how good this organization is. Not only maintaining success against very good teams, year after year, but also fighting an uphill battle against corrupt, unethical, jealous criminals. I'm glad this team has this chip on their shoulders. You've got to believe this mess is what motivated TB to have one of his best seasons last year. Hey Goodell, "Bring it on *****"

Sounds like you can't read. I said the exact opposite of what you wrote.

again, sounds like you need to move on........why are you torturing yourself......if you hate the dude that much, you're selling yourself out very cheaply to support his product.......

I'm sure Goodell did not anticipate nor enjoy losing each of the arbitration decisions lately as it has only brought into focus his arrogance and incompetence. I assume it has weakened his stance amongst some of the other owners.

I'm sure he did not anticipate Brady standing his ground and allowed his arrogance and ignorance to perpetuate deflategate to where it is today.

You may be right about the negative effects of the letter but if it continues the discussion about the insanity of deflategate, which a simple letter from Kraft can do, then it may help in some small incremental way.

You do raise some good points Andy. Tough to argue.

people vastly overrate words and symbolic ********.....this was over a week after the punishment was handed down.

as I said before ..... the worst thing about the situation is that we don't get to watch the pick be made day 1.........beyond that, the draft is such a random crap shoot that's they dump the pick many times anyway

people love to play victim

I don't fault you on your position but do you see any owner that would be better than Kraft?
