Reiss/Schefter: Gronk Got Knee Injection At Hospital Today

I hate how people have this dream that everyone will be at full health on Saturday and we'll roll over KC. It's not gonna happen! Gronk hasn't looked like himself for about a month.
True, and you can say this about a bunch of other guys, including Hightower, Jones, Amendola, Chandler, Coleman, Ebner, LaFell, Slater, Vollmer, Jackson, McCourty, Nink, and throw in Edelman, and Freeny who haven't played at all. Not what we were looking for I'm afraid.

Totally precautionary guys. Nothing to see here.

I wonder if he reinjured it in the Miami game. Not really good news at all considering he's had more than a week off and still needs this.

I think he did. I remember one sideline shot of him grimacing and looking pretty uncomfortable.

no weed
no injections
...
how do you expect this team to get healthy?

Gronk hasn't "looked like himself" because he barely ran any routes during the last two games. They kept him in to block substantially more than they usually do. The return of Vollmer and a new playbook for the playoffs should change that. I don't think his knee will be a big issue, no one's playing at 100% at this point in the NFL.

And to think some people wanted Edelman to play in that game too. Horrific move playing Brady and Gronk.

I wouldn't take that as a given. They are not explosive, but their running game and Smith's legs will stress our defense. With Edelman and Gronk hobbled, I'm not sure who on our team is going to worry them.

Houston and Hali are hobbled as well. Those two are a huge part of their defense.

As for the running game Pats are coming in to stop the run game and Kelce and make a hobbled Maclin (if he plays) beat them.

At this point the ONLY thing that will make me feel better is seeing gronk out there beasting and spiking the ball all over the place. Until then, I am worried. Gronk is crucial to our playoff success and not practicing and getting knee injections doesn't exactly lead me to believe "he's fine". Lets just hope hes's fine "enough" to play a few more games at a high enough level.

I've already tempered my expectations due to the injuries this season, so this does not bother me... other than the fact that if he indeed was injured against Miami, then why play him and other frontline starters (e.g. Brady) knowing the vanilla schemes/game plan that was manifest?

Silver lining is that he is still reportedly expected to play, and, as @JMC00 alluded to up thread, the Chiefs are pretty banged up as well.

So everyone assumes that Maclin will somehow be out 4-6 weeks for his mild HAS, and he gets some light work in.

In comparison, they assume that everyone will be healthy on the Pats and Gronk's at the hospital getting injections and has one limited practice in three days.

Sounds about right.

the fact that anyone even knows about this makes me think the big bamboozle is on by the pats........he he's probably 100% and this is all smoke

I do hope so. Usually the team is exceedingly guarded with their injury information.

Can we do a flipside to this?

Where is all the talk of Tamba Hali not practicing all week and only playing 14 snaps last week and Houston who is clearly hobbled as he kept going in and out of the game last week. I mean those two are pretty big key into all the talk about them having the defense to stop the Pats.

Report coming out of KC is Houston is a game-time decision.

Agreed. Houston is in far worse shape than Gronk. Hali isn't far behind.

They won last week solely on the ineptitude of the Houston Texans and Brian Hoyer. Hali and Houston flashed but that was more the result of Hopkins being the only real target.

Houston, Maclin and Hali being far less than even 60 percent is far worse than anything the Pats are dealing with.

Difference is that Gronk has played the last couple weeks, while Maclin's got that weird vibe when hockey teams say "upper body injury" when they mean "broken collarbone." He didn't practice today or yesterday. Gronk, at least, will play, though he may not be as effective as he always is. Same for Edelman. I'd be surprised if Maclin does.

Meanwhile you have teams like the Seahags that are going in healthy 3 seasons in a row.

Ummm.....let's be honest here.

They lost Jimmy Graham for the season.

And we did face them in the SB last year relatively healthy whereas Sherman, Thomas, Avril, Jeremy Lane, etc. were all out before the half or playing very injured.

Unless Gordie is dropping dimes again.

And it's questionable whether Lynch can or wants to play, so they're trotting out Christine Michael, who's been on so many teams this year we can't even be sure he knows which direction to run.
