How about their first for our second and Jimmy G
That would become a late first because we'd lose the Lions pick but regain our own.

I think this is why JMD is not interviewing.
He already knows where he is going.
Tampa, Tenn or Detroit.
All 3 teams have a franchise QB.
They have Stafford. Why do they want Jimmy? How about their first for our second and Jimmy G
Is there a source of him not interviewing for the lolphins and any other team?

I'm just whining here, but I truly believe if you hire away another team's personnel for a position of great importance in your organization (Head Coach/General Manager) then you should compensate that other team accordingly.
3rd, 4th, 5th somewhere in that range.
Anyway, best of luck to Mr Quinn and respect to Bill Belichick who by all accounts stood behind and supported this promotion outside of NE.
yea you never know. I hold Stafford in a higher regard than Cutler but my impression is that he's not "field general" and not the smartest guy in the classroom but I dont follow the Lions closely enough. It's assuming Josh McDaniels goes there and doesn't want to work with Stafford - in a weak QB year in the draft, presumably they could trade Stafford for a fair haul.
I also don't think it was that serious a proposition.
Why should another team have to compensate a team for someone who they are hiring for a better position than he currently has? Pats had a chance to ask Quinn to stay. A scout being hired as a GM is no different than a coordinator being hired as a HC.
Now hiring a guy for the same position is different story.
It can suck for the team but the guy got a promotion the Pats couldn't, or wouldn't, give him. It's a good thing for his career. I get what you're saying but the team he's leaving just has to bite the bullet and wish him well.Because he's under contract and as almost always is the case, when a competitor wants to hire away someone under contract there is compensation to the employer to be worked out.
I understand the upwards mobility design of it all, but I still feel there should be compensation. Just my opinion.

Yea they aren't ideal by any stretch.3 bad jobs.
The Titans is a question mark as of now, the other 2 franchises we know how it ends, also they play in divisions that are set for the next few years. Titans may be the best option between these 3.
Yeah I think he's too good to just dump. Actually had a very quality year. Cardwell is an interesting case, the eye test says he sucks but his record tells another story. I say he gets another year.Jim Bob Cooter dumbed a lot down for him. He had a very good year. Hes entering his prime so who knows.

In 2008 they lost the 32nd and still retained SF's #7 choice which they trade to NO and draft Mayo while the Jets drafted Gholston at #6. I don't recall their being language in the punishment this time calling for the higher of the draft choices. What would the league do with a draft day trade? Stop the draft and say NE trades up up loses their pick but now have the 32nd? Not that I wouldn't put it past them but it seems unrealistic.
I just can't imagine a coach going from Brady's discipline to staffords texas playground style. Mcdaniels would age worse than Gollum.
I'm all for an increase in potential trade partners for BB.
There have been rumors that Josh McDaniels is interested in the Titans job. He did not interview for any other coaching opening. The Titans still have an opening, and now their GM is a former Patriots colleague (although I think they only overlapped by 2 years). Potential landing spot?
