Eagles release Chip Kelly

Manning is behind it trying to fill the news with something else. Too bad, I feel he was getting a bad rap with the racism claims this summer. The Eagles were interesting.

Why are they saying released like he's a player? Are they trying to say "we just fired Chips ass" in a polite way?

I'm a Pats fan living north of Philly. Everyone here was thrilled when Kelly was hired. "They" said he would revolutionize the NFL, that BB wasn't half the coach that Kelly would be. And now, the Eagles didn't even wait until this season was over to jettison him. I feel so giddy!

Everybody wants to pick the groceries, but in the salary cap era, price matters, and Chip never figured that out.

You can't trade a mediocre QB making next to nothing for a mediocre QB making $13M while also signing DeMarco Murray for twice as much as anyone else was offering and giving ridiculous contracts out to middling talents like Byron Maxwell.

It's not college, where you collect the most talent and win before the game starts. Chip would have been fine if he stayed coaching, but he took on more than he could handle, and way more than he could even begin to understand. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a second chance later like Pete Carroll, paired with a proper GM.

The only surprise is that I think it is strange they did it before the final game, instead of the Monday after.....
There was a meeting and words were said.

Chip isnt the type of guy who just hangs around and has a string attached to his limbs.

"Hi Chip, this is the Tennessee Titans we think we have the perfect QB to run your system"
In all honesty, the Titans not only have Mariota but also have a couple potentially good receivers. He would probably want a better RB than Andrews or Sankey, though Cobb is there I think but injured.
