While you blame these situations on normal things like :normal free agency moves, declining performance, contract disputes, I call it New England not wanting to deal with bloated egos. You have your opinion and I have mine. You seem to take no risk by your opinion, spoken like a true diplomat, like that Ask PFW guy who answers every question exactly the same. We're both Patriot fans. However, I am willing to bet that Asante will no longer be a Patriot come Week 1 and you'd be naive to think it had nothing to do with Asante's ego.
Ok, we're each entitled to our views. I'm cool with that. You might want to ask yourself though, why it took BB 3 years with Milloy and 5 years with Law until he cast aside their egos. Why did he want Law and his ego back last offseason? Why did he let Woody play out his rookie contract rather than kick his ego to the curb? Why was Rodney ever brought on board (I love Rodney, but I'd never pretend he doesn't have an ego)?
I just see your view as one of those where you latch onto that which suits it and ignore that which doesn't.
On another note, I really hope that if Asante chooses to sit out that BB and Pioli do nothing. The team is good enough to play without him for 9 weeks, and it'll mean he's fresh and healthy at the end of the year. This team doesn't need him to make the playoffs, but he will definitely help if they want to win in them.
