OT: The Broncos D really capitalized on Aaron Rodgers biggest weakness...

Rodgers and his offense didn't show up on the road in a big game, shocker, not.

Their 2 other road games this year

Bears- 31 points. Typical Rodgers performance vs the Bears
49ers- 17 pints

Yes the 49ers held that offense to 7 more points than the broncos did. And only 1 team has failed to score more than 17 points against the 49ers this year, the Vikings and that was Week 1.

It's actually an indictment of Rodgers' performance last night that he didn't throw a pick.

The major reason Saint Aaron has shall we say "limited" 4th QTR comeback success is that he is so INT stats averse that he rarely if ever makes the risky throws even when justified to pull out a comeback W late in the game.

Hate seeing Denver win but at least the talk of Aaron Rogers being the best QB playing today took a major hit.

ESPN appreciated Rodger's performance last night, as his QBR (QB Rodgers?) rating was roughly 3 times higher than Brady's performance versus Dallas.
Those ratings aren't subjective....just based on a stupid formula.

didn't manning just come off of a bye week? if so he had two weeks to rest his arm. thats not happening the rest of the way.

Yep, that's a potentially huge factor. And Winter is Coming. But...as much as I was rooting for Green Bay last night, it was kind of cool to get another glimpse of the "real" Peyton Manning.

I had thought we'd seen the last of the marquee Brady-Manning faceoffs. A 10-0 vs. 10-0 game would be quite a thing.

Yeah, I'm just being a smartass. After that abysmal performance by the Packers' offense, I wagered Rodgers would still come out on top.

That Denver defense is legit. Fast, tackle extremely well, and play very well up front. They're a tall order for any team. I think the Pats match up well, but they're not joke.

Manning had a statistically impressive game, yes, but did he do anything that made us believe that he is back? He made easy throws with minimum velocity. Everything was an in-cut or a quick slant/arrow off the line. He was the same Manning he's been all year, Green Bay was just incompetent. He put nothing on film that a compitent defensive coordinator couldn't look at and easily take away. I'm hoping the hype train keeps rolling, though. I want every narrative to be about Manning's fountain of youth because of stats. That Nov 29 game is starting to look more and more like a funeral for his career when they flood the middle and spam disguised rushers. Happy feet, panic, and sweet, delicious Manning Face. Belichick needs a black hoodie for that one.

I believe they are based on whether a QB or WR is at fault for an incompletion, which is subjective, and also whether a play is clutch.

That's the reason the rating isn't available in game or immediately after like passer rating. They have to wait for people to re watch the game and essentially give numeric opinions to plug into the formula.

Yes it would be quite a thing- it would be a classic game and one that I am looking forward to.

I truly believe that this is Manning's last season- he is running on fumes, and so this stands a good chance of being the last Brady vs. Manning regular season game.

Yeah, it's amazing what modern pharmaceuticals can do. Wonder if Manning will be tested?

I'm sorry, I'm sure that's nonsense, I just can't help but think we'd be hearing whispers about Brady if he underwent such a radical change in performance so quickly, it only seems fair we should start unfounded rumors about Manning.

What's the saying? What's good for the goose is good for the corrupt, HGH-riddled Bronco?

Really? Because I feel like I've seen them during games.

I was fearful that this game would illustrate the decline in Peyton's game. I really don't like seeing great players ravaged by time and playing like a shadow of their former self. Happily that wasn't the case last night, and 18 had one of his best games in the last two seasons. However I would stop a long way short from stating that he had returned to elite form, as some mediots would have it. Two weeks of rest certainly helped his arm strength, but his throws still lack their former zip, maybe because he is still using more of his upper body to get the distance.

As 50-Yard-Line pointed out GB lost their two starting corners early in the game, which probably messed up their game plan, though its hard to work out if they ever had a competent one to begin with. They couldn't stop the run, they couldn't protect the outs and they had no answer to Denver's TEs. They got some pressure on PM but not enough to cause him to make a mistake (and it wasn't pressure that caused his one INT). I am still not fully convinced about Denver's Offensive Renaissance, after all, one swallow does not a summer make. Stop the run, lower the temperatures and let's see that passing game again before I consider that part of their team a playoff threat. Their defense, on the other hand, is the best in the league by a good margin, and one that makes our end of the month clash worrisome.

Rodgers looked befuddled and lost without Jordy Nelson out there to help bail him out. Cobb did well considering he was double teamed most of the time. However I disagree that Rogers had no-one to throw to. There were open receivers in space occasionally and Rogers either ignored them or didn't see them (Adams in particular). Rodgers is poor at overcoming adversity, and the Denver Defense appeared too large a hill for him to climb. He still has the prettiest mechanics of any QB, and has exceptional pocket presence and movement, but his bugaboo remains a lack of steel when behind against an imposing foe.

The Packers offense was trending down before the Broncos against some not-so-great teams. Not sure if this result is the Jordy Nelson issue showing up when playing teams that have a solid defense. The Packers defense has some quality pieces, but should have looked good against the last 3 teams playing them with a combined record of 5-10. And this isn't Wisconsin, so add that to the mix.

The Pack looked flat from the gun and just got spanked. Couldn't stop the pass or run, and didn't change the game plan when it wasn't working. I couldn't figure out why Rodgers wasn't running on the Broncos more, as that was about the only offensive decision that seemed to work (and it is a far better option than standing in the pocket and getting drilled).

Commence a week of stories on how Manning is back and the Broncos are nigh unstoppable. I was really hoping I would not have to listen to that.

When the Pats play them on the road after a short week of preparation following a Monday night game, I hope Manning isn't complaining about the effects of the winter chill in the air as his reason for the loss.

I could be wrong, it's what I think I remember reading about it when it came out. Don't have time to google it now. I don't recall seeing it in game. Even when I just watched the box score during games passer rating updated automatically, but QBR wasn't available until long after the game. Unless that changed recently.

This will be a damn tough game no doubt.

As has been said, our quick pass offense matches up way better than GB's offense. Additionally our skill guys are tons better than what GB has. Other than Cobb they don't really have much at WR and RB (Lacy has been bad this year). Also Shields was out early and their rookie starting QB by halftime. Take out Butler and Ryan and we'll struggle on defense too. However that is a really tough place to play and with us on a long road trip following a MNF game - ouch.

It's actually sort of hilarious that the Pats have a Monday night game before they play the Broncos, in Denver. I'm surprised the league didn't just have the Patriots play the Thursday night game and then play Denver 3 days later.

You almost have to admire the lack of subtlety there. You do you, NFL.

Let's see the Broncos offense string another few games together before people start crowning them. Up until last night they were putrid. Almost dead last actually. It was the best defensive showing of the season and I give credit where credit was due.

Couple of things though. GB was without both its starting cbs and the the game time temp was unusually warm at 61 degrees. Credit to the donkeys for a great game. I'm surprised they were able to run so well considering how bad they've been all season. Same for Manning.

The X's and O's are simple. Protect and get rid of the ball to the receivers that have to get open. On defense, stop the run and pressure Manning. The dline is getting better and better every week and I expect them to be even better come week 11.

Should be a great battle but they aren't focusing on what Denver did last night. You know everything is on Washington.

Remember its never as bad it it looks or as good as it looks.

I should have known re: Rodgers. I remember back in 2011 (I think) when the Pack was playing the Giants in Lambeau in the playoffs and I was all set to root for the Pack to do us a solid and Rodgers just laid a huge egg. He looked completely ineffective. He just doesn't always show up in big games, especially on the road. I just lost sight of that because I don't really follow the Packers beyond the weekly scores. But nothing is really changed. They came out flat as hell and got curb stomped. I'm a little disappointed with myself for even being surprised.

I thought Peyton looked excellent but hold your horses on one game. The Packers were dominated on the OL and the DL. Peyton got very comfortable back there. He was not pressured often. The running game was destroying the Packers. It was a slaughter.

Hard to tell anything about how Peyton will react when he is not fully set and is throwing entirely with his arm. He had his full body into throws last night, and for the most part was accurate (a couple of balls could have been picked in the first half, but for the most part he was on).

So, stop Denver's run. Get pressure on Manning. These are things that are quite apart from Peyton's ability to throw. In other words, if a team manages to do what other teams were doing to Peyton earlier (and which the Packers failed at), then it could well be that Peyton starts having the same old problems again.

One thing is certain: the Patriots need their OL and guys like Sheard to get healthy again.
