@Patriots: PFW debates: Gronk & Edelman or Moss & Welker in this week's @SamsoniteUS Make Your Case: http://t.co/4RCYP2gg0m http://t.co/yHDNlLqqth

1. The goat TE vs. a top 2 WR all time

2. a top 8-14 WR in the nfl vs. the goat slot WR

2007 Moss/Welker: 36.8 PPG
Gronk/Edelman since KC: 35.8 PPG

2007 Moss/Welker: 18-1
Gronk/Edelman since KC: 16-1 and a SB (Edelman didn't play vs. Jets & both rested week 17)

An arguably tough choice, but I'd go with Moss/Welker ca. 2007.

I'd go with the combo that holds the hardware. And that's basically the tie breaker because this is just too close to call. Moss and Welker were a record setting combo that was a fluke helmet catch and a dropped INT way from finishing 19-0.

This is so hard that my head is spinning right now. I'll need some time to think about this one and get back to you.o_O:confused::eek:

Gronk and Edelman for the following reasons:

Multi dimensional: gronk will run block too. Moss won't. Edelman runs every route and also can be a passing threat. Welker is more limited.

Attitude:
Gronk and edelman have put team above all. No ego. Moss and welker got petulant in the end. Moss also mailed it in more after 2007.

I think Moss/Welker, Moss in particular, could help run up the score higher than Gronk/Edelman against weaker defenses. But Gronk/Edelman, Gronk in particular, help beat tough defenses because they are more versatile and more physical while Moss/Welker were more finesse.

All you have to do is look at who was able to win a championchip regardless of the what if and maybes, Gronk/Edelman were able to bring a championship back and possibly a repeat this season, put it like this replace Edelman with welker in Super Bowl 46 and Brady has 5 rings right now instead of 4...

Gronk and JE11 > Welker ad Moss.

My basis behind this, is that they are harder to gameplan around. Moss didn't demand the coverage that Gronk does all over the field. Having Gronk really opens up infinite amounts of ideas for plays. As for playmaking ability, I give a slight nod to current crop, only because JE11 is a superior athlete than Welker.

2014 Edelman in 2011, probably (but that was a tough catch, period).
If you just swap 2011 Edelman for 2011 Welker . . . quite likely it's the same result.

The Gronk/Edelman team has better offensive supporting cast. As BB said, double Moss and clog the middle of the field and our offense sputtered, granted it took quite some time for that to happen, but it did prove effective.

Edelman may never give us the consistent 1200-1600 yard seasons that Welker did but he appears to be open even more often and is always there. Gronk is as productive as Moss but it's more about just being a huge beast and less about being an athletic god like Moss was, harder to shut Gronk down IMO. Gifted athlete AND he's 6'6. Scary combo for the NFL.

Plus I prefer the supporting cast of Ridley/Vereen/Blount/Dola/LaFell/Dobson over Gaffney/Stallworth/Watson/Maroney/BJGE/the disaster crew that was 2009.

I was talking 2014 sense hell i even think 2014/2015 Amendola would of made that catch

Amendola did make that catch.

Personally, I think this is a no brainier. Edelman and Gronkowski are much better, because they're both more complete players who bring much more than Moss and Welker brought to the table. Moss was a great outside WR and Welker was a great slot WR, they didn't offer the dimensions and different ways to beat a defense. Edelman and Gronkowski can be used as chess pieces. Also Edelman is a great punt returner, better blocker and can work out of the backfield, and Gronkowski is the best blocking TE in the NFL and the most impressing offensive player in the NFL.

Anyone who's followed my 2007 Appreciation Thread knows that that season was and remains my favorite season of all time (I was too young to fully appreciate the dynasty years of 01', 03' and 04').

That said, this is really a no-brainer. Gronk is more physical and more difficult to cover than Moss...while Edelman is more versatile and more athletic than Welker. Aside from setting records and impact, Moss and Welker don't really stack up compared to those two.

We all have our preferences for current players, especially in the first two games of a Super Bowl season. We all believe that the GREAT player won Super Bowls. So, for these folks, Dilfer was a GREAT quarterback and Kelly was a failure.

For me, Moss was one of the two best receivers of all time, and showed it over many, many years. Welker was one of the best slot receivers of all time, and showed it over many, many years. For me, the choice is an easy one: Moss and Welker.

Our great team, the best in the NFL, doesn't have a downfield threat. Of course, we can score touchdowns and great plays and win Super Bowls without a #1 WR who can instantly score a touchdown from anywhere on the field. We have had the discussion of downfield receiver for years. Is LaFell that guy? Is Dobson? Is Amendola (see THE catch). Shouldn't we have acquired such a player? MOSS was the best ever in that role.

Sucks for Wes he lost a good portion of his prime in the playoffs missing it in 2008, 2009 getting hurt and then 2010 recovering. I'll have to go with Gronk/Edelman but Moss/Welker was awesome.
