Week 2 post-game thread - Patriots 40, Bills 32

I was impressed with how Brady was moving tight ends and receivers around to help with the blocking and still everybody was able to line up correctly and run the play.

I recall one pass that Edelman probably should have caught and didn't,

I counted two. Still not a big deal, unless somebody wants to claim he's one of the absolute elite WRs in the league.

Public Service Announcement.

We won and we're undefeated.

I feel this is needed considering some of the comments.

From the game day thread I thought we lost the game and all hope of coming back after the bills scored the first td.

Rex asked stands out about game: "All the penalties. They only had 11, we had 14. I guess the refs thought they came to see them today."
Meanwhile BB says we need to coach better. Bill takes responsibility and gives credit to the players. Rex points fingers and accepts no blame.

There's your difference between a HOF coach and a clown.

I believe THIS is what is called "for the win":

Christopher Price @cpriceNFL
Q: "Did it motivate you at all that Rex Ryan said he didn't even know your name? Dion Lewis: "No. Winning motivates me." (1/2)

I've got a feeling that Rexxy won't last as long with the Bills as he did with the Rats. It is the same old same old with him and teams will catch on quicker.

He needs to go back to being a DC for someone.

He just isn't HC material and is an embarrassment as the face of your franchise.

The weakness of the offensive line has more or less been the OTs surprisingly. But overall 1 play aside the entire unit played well. Just goes to show how much 1 blindside hit can change your perspective.
If you mean the Brady sack/fumble, you can't blame the OL for that. He had a lot of time and hung on to the ball too long.

I know. Disappointing level of angst from some Pats fans today.

Breaking protocol and rooting for the Jests Monday. The division can wait.
If Indy does win...can't wait to watch the unveiling of the "First Win of the Season" banner

Please - Everyone watch the Amendola catch play.........

Pre-snap Brady moves Edelman to go in motion inside to block the exact guy who would be gunning the blitz. It was as clear an example of how masterful Brady is.

Actually, Rex said it was all his fault, and that his players weren't to blame.

I know, I know.

But I still prefer to characterize him as a clown.:D

Give sexy Rexy credit. He blame himself for the loss instead of some idiot coach who blame it on headset.

At this point in the season I'll gladly take 7 point wins where we can do alot of things better while staying pretty healthy. Especially when the interior OL is holding up the way it is and the offense has not only picked up where it left off but looks better than the SB winning one. One game coming against a Rex Ryan defense who has always given Brady trouble even with poor teams.

Not sure what to say of giving up 32 points since other than the first drive it was either playing a soft big lead defense or coming off a stupid decision to attempt a 4th and 1 at midfield up by 14. They did look better than they did against Pittsburgh but it was against a much worse offense. Oh well, 2-0.

If it's November and we still need Brady throwing 50 times a game to survive I'll worry but I doubt that will be the case. I mean I'm not as confident on establishing a consistent run game but I think Brady will get alot more help from the defense by that time for sure. Right now it's all about putting another one in the W column.

Dion Lewis - what a find! Adds a whole new dimension to this offense. Dobson also looked comfortable.

Fair enough. Rex enjoys being humiliated. :)

The reason the score was close is that Solder completely blew a block. Trying to blame it on the 4th down calls is asinine.
Two fourth down and short calls near mid-field, both resulting in a Bills TD.

The game was a mess/bizarre, but key takeaways:

That was the best defense on our schedule that Brady/co. just burnt to a crisp. The kids (so far) are great pass blockers. Could be our best passing offense since 07/11.

Lewis is an upgrade over Vereen.

Butler gave up 0 yards if I recall. I think he was in zone underneath and the TD was McCourty's responsibility.

Short: Best offense in the NFL, and a solid defense if we can find a third CB that isn't garbage.

Umm.. I wouldn't say that the Buffalo Defense is Better than the Jets defense or the Dolphins defense..

Not sure that I agree that Lewis is an upgrade over Vereen. 2 games. 2 Fumbles. Ridley got benched for that. We'll have to see what happens..

People who have said that Logan Ryan should make the transition to safety, I have to agree with. He is much better with the play in front of him. As we saw today..

I agree. We need a 3rd CB. Here's hoping that Coleman can step up and beat out Fletcher cause, Fletcher was toast even if you discount the bogus PI call,.

Ups:
1. Brady: still raising the bar at 38
2. OL: gobs of inexperience inside stones an all pro DL
3. Lewis: looking like the diamond of free agency

Downs:
1. Fletcher: Philly redux?
2. Chandler: fails to haul in two chances at TD
3. Mason as FB: Devlin he is not.

The O-Line was absolutely INCREDIBLE.
I still don't believe how well they played! And to think that they can get a lot better? That's crazy. HUGE props to Dave DeGuglielmo, he's filling in for Scar beautifully.

I wasn't capable of seeing the numbers and players there the whole game (Streaming sucks sometimes), but were there some subs and shifts in the O-line like last week, or were they the same personnel throughout the whole game?

Cannon played quite a bit, mostly at RT, though he some a few snaps at LT.
They did rotate players, but I think that Jackson replaced Mason after the first series.. I know they had Mason lining up at FB on a couple of running plays, but that just didn't work out..
