When was the last time Brady had so many of the same offensive weapons back for a 2nd season?

I'd say 2011 & 2012 is most recent because welker, gronk, killer, woody. Those were basically all the reception guys for 2 seasons except Lloyd.

Hes in the same unproven boat as White.

Woodhead was unproven. Vereen was unproven. Woodhead was a "jag that not even the jests wanted" and Vereen practically did nothing in terms of receiving his first two years outside of the 80 yard TD against the jests and his 80 yard 2 TD receiving game against houston in the playoffs.

Faulk was unproven. He was here, what, 4 years before he could stay on the field, and another 2 or 3 after that before he stopped putting the ball on the ground?

I really wish we had been able to extend Vereen. I understand that the money simply wasn't right, but we're basically relying on White to replace him.

Bolden is very capable of replacing him too. Has the same speed, can pick up blitzes, better runner (IMO), and in terms of pass catching, Bolden's best year in college was better than Vereen's.

Although just in terms of receiving, his second year (BB's first year) was pretty decent, he had 50 rec for 450 yards. But again going into that year he hadn't proved anything.

I'm confident that one of White or Cadet will be able to offer 80% of Vereen's value for a fraction of the cost. In this equation, White is the upside and Cadet is the floor. Granted, there's real value in that last 10-20%, but you can't afford to pay that premium everywhere on the roster. If you pay it here, you can't pay it somewhere else, etc. etc. I hope White builds on what he showed against Green Bay and helps us forget Vereen in the same way that Vereen helped us forget Woodhead . But if White isn't up to the task, Cadet will establish a baseline of competence that we can at least be comfortable with.

Brady's stats from week 5-16 (He played a half of week 17 without OL or Gronk/Edelman):

29 TDs 7 INTs 3,250 yards

Extended over 16 games:

42 TDs 10 INTs 4700 yards
-------------------------------
Why do this cherry picking?

1. Devey was starting
2. Thompkins was starting over Lafell
3. Stork wasn't starting
4. Amendola was a full time WR rather than a more effective WR3
5. Gronk wasn't fully healthy
------------------------------

Remove the first month disaster on offense caused by the above & the week 17 rest, Tom was the best stat QB and the offense was byfar #1.

Heck, add the 3 playoff games in there too. Brady was even better with 11 TDs almost 1,000 yards.

I've been way more of a homer for the 2015 team than teams of the past in large part because of the continuation on offense. They added Chandler, lost Vereen, and swapped Connolly/Wendell for Wendell/Jackson. Seems like the same nearly unstoppable offense to me.

Long story short: I don't think the offense is getting enough respect with the continuity from last year. That was the best offense once everything jelled and close to 07/12. They are right there with GB for the best unit IMO.

probably 2008

Now we just have to pray that Gronk stays healthy. I'll sacrifice a goat if I have to.

I've been telling ppl this ^^ for quite a while now --- everybody talks about this crazy great 2007 offense, but I don't think they realize 2014 pats were right on that same scoring pace if you want to subtract out the first 4 games and sub in the last 3.

2005 was pretty much the same as 2004. Dillon, Faulk, Branch, Givens, Troy, Bethel, Graham, Fauria, Watson. Patten was gone, but that's about it.

Bolden is very capable of replacing him too. Has the same speed, can pick up blitzes, better runner (IMO), and in terms of pass catching, Bolden's best year in college was better than Vereen's.

Bolden is a below-average RB. The only reason he's on the team is because he's a stellar special teams player.

I wish people would stop trying to make Brandon Bolden anything more than the JAG-at-best he is.

28 rushes, 89 yards, 2 catches (on 6 targets) for 8 yards. This is what Brandon Bolden brought to the table offensively a year ago.

The RB corps was in disarray most of the year, thanks to the Ridley injury, yet he could only manage to be 6th on the team in rushing attempts (behind Brady) and 6th in yards (behind Edelman). He had 10 carries for 47 yards in the last two weeks of the season, or it would have been even less than that. He ran for more than 10 yards in a game three times all season, and two of those were 15 and 17 yards.

Brandon Bolden is a real running back, like Matthew Slater is a real wide receiver.

Just because some Globe flunkie posted that he was taking snaps with the first team, this apparently means THE ANSWER WAS HERE ALL ALONG!!!~!!1

Either that or, you know, most of the actual first-team offense is hurt, and someone has to line up in the backfield.

Stop with Brandon Bolden as a running back.

Stop it.

While I agree with you about Bolden -minus all the self-righteous snark, I do have to wonder if you have an Edelman version of this post...
