BB on Bolden

I would not be at all surprised to see Brandon Bolden have a much bigger offensive role this season and perform at a high level. His running style is similar to Ridley's and Vereen was a better receiver, so it limited his opportunities.

Yup, Bolden put a beating on a few guys this year. For a little guy he packs quite a punch.
Bolden is actually about the same size as Ridley. He weighed 222lbs at the combine, Ridley weighed 225lbs. Bolden is a powerful runner, he went undrafted because he had a lot of off field issues in college. He is actually a very talented runner.

Reads like the kiss-of-death to me. He'll be traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or somebody for a draft pick and some guy we never heard of from Rutgers before training camp opens.
Was about to post the same thing. Kiss of death.

And I will add just one more thought to that.

If bolden is as good as BB said, why didn't he see the field last year?

BJGE was a better runner.

Bolden is an outstanding utility guy that can help you for 10 snaps a game.

Anything beyond that he is very average.

Bolden does not get the reps that BJGE had to prove that he is just as good.

Usually, he comes for a play, rips off a run and then is back on the sidelines. If Gray and Blount go down, Bolden would see more time.

I see him as more of a Patrick Pass. That guy stuck on the roster forever and gave them some production as a runner when injuries struck. Dropping the football to grab his hammy wasn't the best move of all time.

No, Pass was a Numbskull.

Bolden is already better than Pass ever thought of being.

...which is why hes a 3rd stringer.

Bolden is good but if people think hes a 200 carry guy they are not being realistic.

As a STer- no question. As a offensive player, very debatable.

Yes, he's better, but his role on the team is much more similar to Pass than it was to BJGE, who couldn't catch, return kicks, or cover kicks.

How do you know?

Are you an NFL scout?

Same level of understanding as you. Watched every single game. Followed the team closely. Know football and the position. Read scouting reports...

Patrick Pass was a good player for this team for several seasons.

Bolden is also good player.

To say that he is vastly superior than Pass is IMO, fanciful.

Interesting! Did Patrick Pass get a Superbowl ring with the Giants as well despite only playing in one game before being released?
Nope.

PATRICK PASS He played fullback and special teams for the Patriots, a team not known for overtaxing its fullbacks. Pass also played one game for the 2007 Giants but did not stay on the roster long enough to qualify for a fourth Super Bowl ring. If he shared some Patriots secrets during his brief tenure, the Giants should have given him two rings.

Those stats seem to indicate Bolden is a little better on the ground and Pass is a little better through the air. How is that a "fail"?

Charlie Weis hated Patrick Pass...

Quote Charlie Weis on the subject of Patrick Pass:

"That guy's a [expletive] [expletive]. He can't do anything. The only [expletive] positive about him is that the QB's seem to like him. Brady always says 'what about Pass?'".

I do think Bolden is a more well-rounded player but Pass was very serviceable.

That's the first time I've heard BB praise someone for "not needing a lot of reps." Interesting.
I guess that means that as a 3rd string player, he can be inserted in a game and perform well without having needed a lot of practice and game reps to get ready.
That's an asset I'd never considered.
