It's all insane. The only bit of actual evidence of wrong doing is the refs! It was a ref that was fired for stealing game balls. It was the ref that didn't write down the PSI readings before the game. It was the refs that used two gauges with different readings and couldn't remember which ones where used. The only bit of factual evidence from the text messages were the refs pumping the ball up way past the required range. The only two scenarios with that Jets game was 1. The Patriots submitted balls under 12.5 and the refs inflated them, but didn't check them. or 2. The refs broke the rules on purpose, whether agenda driven or not, blowing the balls up to nearly 16 PSI.
That Jets game was a home game so either the Patriots deflated the balls and the refs caught it at half, re-inflated them, and then the whole thing was swept under the rug. Or way more likely: the Patriots didn't tamper with the balls and played with the 16 PSI balls, as they were the next morning. So based on that, there is STRONG evidence that they never ever tampered with the balls prior to 2014 and if they HAD tampered, it was the remaining home games after this date. Yet, the other series of text where Brady is instructing them to inflate to 12.5-12.6 and bring the rule book to the refs suggests that they weren't tampering, but trying to get the refs to stop screwing around. Even IF they decided to taking things into their own hands and 'tamper', it's much more likely that they would check the balls and only deflate to 12.5 if the refs inflated them... which would be still in the legal range. It makes zero sense that Brady would deflate a ball below the level he has stated he wants them at, he uses during practice, and uses during all road games. It just doesn't make sense. There's no way he'd just have the ball boy stick a needle in them without actually gauging them. BUT, there's also no way McNally would have had time to gauge the balls and possibly deflate them in 90 seconds. It's just all garbage.
