I thought it was the last 2 weeks.
There were multiple non divisional games in week 16.

Best Patriot-Cowboy highlight of all-time:
@AdamSchefter: Sure sounds like Steelers at Patriots in Thursday night regular-season opener. Full NFL schedule release tonight at 8 on ESPN.
We may score on every possession. The Steeler's D has no chance vs. our passing O.

Also, without Bell on offense, the Steelers offense seems ordinary. Opening day is going to be fun.
49-17 Pats
Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots
Plenty of fans and league analysts (myself included) felt the Steelers could have given the Patriotsserious trouble in last year's playoffs. Then Le'Veon Bell went down in Week 17 -- and the Steelerswere one-and-done in January, bailing out against the Ravens in the Wild-Card Round.
Well, the aforementioned matchup will happen in 2015. And there's reason to believe Pittsburgh could give the defending champs trouble. Bell, of course, could be suspended for the game, depending on scheduling. That would hurt. But at least the Steelers signed a solid backup in free agency: DeAngelo Williams. And Pittsburgh's offense could be even more well-rounded this season, with Martavis Bryantentering Year 2. Lastly, with New England forced to deploy two different cornerbacks following the free agency departures of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, Ben Roethlisberger could have a field day at Gillette.
Eliot Harrison has a slightly different take (I like yours better):
Will be a fun opener. Kind of funny that both teams' starting RBs will be suspended for the game for the same incident. By all accounts, Gray is working his ass off this offseason. Could be his chance to seize the reins back from Blount.

Jets will open 2015 schedule at home against Cleveland Browns, finish at Buffalo Bills, source says
Think it will be Pittsburgh first up, in much the same way as Seattle played conference rivals Green Bay last year
Personally I'd rather see Bills @ Patriots for opening night. Aside from Big Ben vs Brady, what else is enticing about the Steelers matchup? Is there even any reason to believe it'll be a good game?
A Bills matchup offers the first look at Buffalo Rex vs. Belichick, a host of new talent for Buffalo (McCoy, Harvin), and potentially Matt Cassell vs the team that set him up for a career in the NFL. Add in the fact it's a division rivalry, and I find it much more intriguing. Just my 2 cents though.
The NFL may also benefit from not allowing the media to highlight the fact that the two starting RBs of the game are suspended because they were arrested on a blunt ride together.
rather it be MIA @NE, in the snow, and @ MIA sometime in October, not SeptemberSounds like we finish the season @Mia. Works for me.. avoid the insane heat..
Opening night is about the Champions raising the banner. Why would we want an attention whole who has accomplished nothing bringing his team here and trying to make it about him?
He is a nail to the Patriots hammer. The opportunity to whoop his ass and show him that changing cities won't change his fate
