Will There Be Backlash on Irsay and/or Pagano?

Sadly, Irsay and Pegano are no longer with us....report to follow.

Why would there be? The best we can really hope for is that a bunch of coaches and/or QBs speak out and say this is no big deal. Which is already sort of happening, in Jason La Canfora's latest article, Brad Johnson, Rich Gannon, and Steve Beuerlein, and Boomer Esiason all have outright said that it's a nonstory. Matt Leinart has stated that everyone does it (and implied that it confers no more advantage than wearing a glove), while Donovan McNabb said it's not a big deal considering all of the doctoring that teams do to balls. And Aaron Rodgers has admitted to playing with non-regulation balls himself.

Between that and the news that all the coaches at the Senior Bowl think it's a nonstory, it's enough that I've heard enough and I'm fine with the whole thing. I just hope Goodell doesn't go ****ing nuts like he usually does.

I'm reading between the lines here, but I'm not even sure Pagano supports Grigson and Irsay's pursuit of this. DQwell Jackson showed Pagano the ball and Pagano didn't care. It was Grigson who got all up in a hissy over it.

Well if the coaches think this is an overblown non issue and are angry that this has become news I would think someone on the Colts will be perceived as a wretched rat.

That hasn't really stopped Eric Mangini too much, has it?

While I'm sure there are many who view him as a rat, there are many more who don't really care, judging by the fact he continues to see job opportunities.

The Colts are

1. A good team and franchise,
2. but clearly not on the same level as the Patriots.

After the build-up and beat-down, that's the main narrative about them. Anything else, such as Pagano recovering from illness or Irsay being out of control, is secondary.

That is the story but do you really believe DQwell Jackson could feel the under-inflated ball and the ref did not? This whole story is bogus and a trap by Irsay to make the Pats look bad. The real story is that there is no story. The Pats have probably played every game - including the KC game, with a ball at 10.5 PSI. This year, last year, and every year. Every QB messes with the Ball. I bet Manning uses something different, Rodgers uses something probably closer to 14 PSI. This is just a way by drugie-Irsay to make the Pats look bad.

I have always hated the Irsays for what they did to the Baltimore Colts, and I loved when as a kid the worst Pats teams would crush Indy. I can't wait till the Pats play them again and hopefully kill them.

Just like the Jets with Spygate, they will be considered victims if anything.

I was on a plane today and was forced to watch a bit of Mike Francesa. He is demanding the league to suspend Belichick for a year and Pats give the Colts their first round pick. I know Francesa hates Belichick, but that is the national thinking.

It still shocks me that Francesa still has a job. He sleeps while he works

So on WEEI they said the head coaches at the senior bowl are angry and disgusted that this is such a big issue. If that is true then they cannot be happy with the Colts I would think???
The media lead by kravitz is keeping this going and fans of other teams that hate the pats are feeing off of it. I'd like to see coaches and players get together, come out and say that they think this is a load of sht.

Sure, some parts of the media doesn't like us. But just because Huff post hates us it doesn't mean that all parts of the media hates us, or that they think that this is a big issue. A bunch of people in national and local media has basically laughed at this whole thing as they think it's a non issue. Those media members don't just dissappear because you found a Huff Post story.

People need to stop claiming that every part of the media hates the Patriots. Some do. But a lot of the media don't.
I could use some cheering up. How about a half dozen or so links to a handful of the "bunch of people in national" media who think this is a non issue?

I doubt there will be any backlash, publicly anyway. However, Mangini's phone ain't exactly ringing off the hook.

I posted a disagree on this at first, but changed my mind. But, I would make the following change to your last paragraph: "A lot do. But, some of the media don't"

Yeah, and I'd like a goat that pisses ice cold Bud Light. Not trying to be critical Reflex, but that's not happening.

Reports earlier today said the Colts made a complaint to the NFL on deflated balls after the November beatdown. The NFL was prepared for the possibility of this taking place Sunday.

Would Belichick report a team using under-inflated balls? Unlikely, unless it was the Jets

I'm not buying the Dqwell "Air-Guage-Fingers" Jackson angle, sounds suspect...

Why did they do this?

1. Because this Patriots franchise has owned them for some time, and have made their darling QBs look like jokes, especially in the PO's. So basically out of jealous hatred.

or

2. They obviously know it's a QB football thing. Maybe they knew TB liked a low air ball after intercepting a couple and thought having them checked and increased would mess with his ball handling(obviously that didn't work). When word came back they were low they also decided to leak the story.

I can't think of any reason a low air ball would upset them so much, I'm sure many teams use them. And they complain now?

hes a line coach right? for some team? I was honestly surprised when i heard he was still coaching in the nfl after he screwed up the browns and the jets. I honestly doubt he will ever be a head coach again at least in the pros.

The point is that he had another head coaching opportunity after blowing the whistle on spygate, so the drama as a whistleblower did not stop him from securing a major coaching position.

As we know, he went from HC for the Jets to HC of the Browns. After that he was hired on with ESPN as a consultant there, and then went on to become a " senior offensive consultant." After that, he was hired on as a tight ends coach, where he currently resides. He's also come up lately with DC talk, as the 49ers are highly considering him for the open position right now.

The fact that he'll never likely be another head coach is probably due to the fact that he has a 33-48 record.

I thought I was done hating the Colts after Peyton left, but here I am.
