Suprise, suprise, suprise - Chip Kelly wants to leave the Eagles

Surprise indeed..

There's been a lot of talk about it on WIP today. In Philly, it's all Eagles all the time:rolleyes:

I've liked Kelley from the time I found out that Belichick had questions for him.

I think Philly would be crazy to let him go. I'd like to see him here when Belichick hangs up his hoodies.

The Kraft/Belichick/Brady triumvirate has made it pretty easy to forget that most teams deal with instability on a regular basis.

Never leave us, fellas!

Anyone who has lived thru the Rust/McPherson/Jankovich/Kiam/Mendes/Sullivan Scarlet Fever of Foxboro that lasted from 1988 t0 1993 has never forgotten.

Nope. Chip Kelly won the war and is now the Belichick of Philladephia and in complete control of Eagles personnel.

@EAGLES: Coach Kelly will oversee player personnel department and lead efforts to hire a new personnel executive, a process that begins immediately.

@EAGLES: Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie announces new structural change for the #Eagles: Howie Roseman elevated to Executive VP of Football Ops.

Good move by Philly, IMO.

Yup. Once I learned that Chip Kelly's finger prints were on Belichick's 2012 no huddle rushing attack I knew he was going to be a dynamic and successful NFL coach.

Interesting tidbit, Chip is also a New Hampshire native and it was reported during his tenure in Oregon that his dream job is to take over the New England Patriots when Belichick decides to retire.

I don't think any of us would have qualms with that. He certainly knows how to produce exciting, winning football teams.

Philly's pretty soft defensively, though.

Not to go off topic, but just to finish that thought, this is the benefit of Brady and Belichick having elevated New England to Dynasty status.

When Belichick and Brady retire, we're going to have unlimited options. Top level coaches will want to come here and top level QB prospects will want to be here. Not only has the last 14 years been great, it's laid the foundation for us to continue to reign after they're gone.

Doesn't hurt that we also have the best and most competent owner in all of football either.

Great, stable ownership. Great fanbase. Huge revenue streams. Great tradition of winning.

We still have o-line problems, lack a deep threat and the pass rush needs help. ;)

Don't get me wrong. I grew up near Dover, NH and have followed Chip's career very closely. I'm a huge fan of his. However, until he proves he personnel chops and wins consistently at the NFL level, I'm not quite ready to say that he is the successor to what BB has left behind.

There has been STRONG criticism over Kelly's totally ignoring their DB backfield deficiency which burned them big time in losses to the Cowboys n Washington. Furthermore their #1 pick Marcus Smart was not good enough to get more than 20 snaps the whole season
