Jerod Mayo suffers knee injury

Average score first five games 2013 with Mayo = 14.0
Average score last 10 games 2013 without Mayo = 24.1
I'm assuming those are points allowed? I know Wilfork and Kelly also went down early last season but that is still not good!

Can this guy be run out of town after the season?

@BenVolin
IMO, losing Ridley is more significant than Mayo. Ridley is best/hardest running/most decisive RB. Need to find a between-the-tackles RB

If we needed any more evidence that Volin is less knowledgeable than even the average football fan, that should pretty much cover it.

he also was advocating a brady trade two weeks ago.

I understand the concept of purporting controversial things so to get clicks on your articles. But blow me, his comments are so stupid he loses more credibility every time he speaks.

The comment about us missing Ridley more than Mayo earlier nearly made me spit my coffee out

On ESPN they just stated that Mayo is out for the year.

Any news on what the injury is?

and their 2 best corners were injured at certain points for a multiple game stretch at different times.

Regarding Volin, that's what you guys get for following him. I unfollowed him a long time ago when it was clear he was clueless - not to mention all the (state of) Florida related crap.

Well we can't help it he's still on the Pats Beat Writers scroll. Some of us have lobbied to get him removed from it.

Fan is short for fanatic. You guys love Mayo for what he has meant to the team over the years. The reality is he’s pretty average now

Damn, Volin is straight-up ******ed. How does this guy have a job covering football?
How in the hell can this freaking moron have a job? I really feel that I would do a much better job as a beat reporter than him. I have no doubt that my, and many other members, football knowledge is far ahead of what ever his is.

Here I am looking for a job and I constantly see this lunatic cover the sport and team that I love. While knowing absolutely nothing about either of them. How did he get this job?

I'd love if he said that to BB in a press conference. Bill would probably throw him out head first. Bill has seemed sad ever since the game because of the Mayo injury.

Schefter's twitter says Mayo is done for the year

I don't get how a guy that was #42 out of the 52 qualified RBs in Yards Per Attempt is a bigger loss than Mayo. Not that i'm saying Ridley isn't a loss. Just not more than Mayo.

I really wish we kept Dane Fletcher around. :(

Somehow a facepalm gif just falls short. This guy simply shouldn't be writing about football.

Is Ben Volin for real? Just tweeted this nugget

Complete clown

Volin is way over his head in a market like Boston. He and the Globe should work out some solution which involves him "spending more time with my family" in a less competitive market. There's no shame in someone finding his level.
