@RapSheet: Not only is TE Dustin Keller visiting the #Patriots, but source tells me the physical on his knee went very well.

I don't know where you heard about the results of his physical, I would have thought the results would be at least kneed to know..

I have my doubts as to how effective he will be, especially since jake ballard didn't pan out...

Ballard didn't pan out because he just isn't that good.

I thought that was a prognosis on the upcoming Jets season.
Wrong. This is the upcoming Jets season...

Could also be used to represent Rex's job security as head coach.

One can never have enough TE's with reconstructed knees

Keller when healthy is a very good #2 TE who is the move TE. I don't see any harm giving him a shot since his contract will likely be an one year prove it deal with little or no guaranteed money. He is 80% of what he was before the injury and it is still a decent upgrade at the position.

With tight end being one of our biggest needs, I think as many have said, if he's healthy and that's a "big if", he could definitely be a good addition to our team. Plus, any way we can stick it to the Jets, I'd be all for it. lol

If the knee is healed, he might be able to do some of the things Hernandez did for us. I'm hoping we sign him for something incentive-laden.

Hopefully they sign him soon.

This is a weak TE group. I wanted the team to go after Moeaki, but they let him go to Buffalo. Bringing in Keller for a look doesn't hurt anything, serves much the same purpose that bringing in Moeaki would have, and it might just net a TE2/TE3 on the cheap. He'll be 30 years old, so he might even have a couple of years left in him. They've got 25 spots left on the roster.

I don't see any problem here, as long as they can scrub the Jets stink off of him.

I know it was a devastating injury he has had, but other players have come back from similar injuries. It has been over ten years since Willis McGahee came back from a similar injury and medical science has jumped quite a bit since then.

What's the weak TE group? The one currently for NE, those left on the FA market or those in the draft?

Well, the team's TE group is weak. The FA group left is weak. The draft group is, let's call it, underwhelming.

Sign him

So all of them! :( I hope whomever NE selects in the draft pans out and can stay on the field. I am tired of watching Hooman out there running routes.

Certainly have to wonder what level he will be able to play at after such a devastating injury but still worth a look. As someone else said if he and a rookie both work out then so be it goodbye Hooman but more realistically either a rookie or Keller could push Hooman back where he belongs TE3.

I love how Rex Ryan marches O'Connell to midfield as a captain and then thumps his chest after signing Sudfeld, while the Patriots go out and quietly get franchise face guys like Revis, Woodhead, Ellis, and hopefully Keller.

Every team is quiet compared to Ryan.:)

I wish the Pats had given Sudfeld a little more time.

That catch of his from Favre in the OT game in 2008? That sucked.

But anyway, STB.

Sudfeld amassed a whopping 5 catches last season.
