Chris Johnson becomes the next big free-agency story | ProFootballTalk
PFT says that Chris Johnson will be cut on Monday (off-season workouts beging and the Titans don't want him to pull a hammy and have to pay him 8 million).
He still has tremendous speed, however he has never struck me as the sharpest tool in the shed, so I wonder if he could pick-up the Pats offense.

Blount is a better BR than Ridley, IMO. His one major shortcoming is that his very presence on the field telegraphs a run, since he isn't very good as a receiver or a blocker. In both regards, Ridley is not much better. Blount is stronger, has better vision, and has better breakaway speed, and as a result he has put up slightly better stats over his career on far worse teams. Claiming that Ridley is far better than Blount is just pure homerism. On the bright side, part of me is still waiting for Ridley to 'break out'. At this point it's more hope than expectation, but at worst he's an adequate starting RB.
On the other hand, I'll take Vereen over Woodhead any day.
DeSean Jackson agrees to terms with the WAS Redskins, per PFT.
The deal is officially expected to be signed tomorrow morning.
Why?
I mean, I'd prefer either Sanders or Cotchery over him, but what don't you get?
As a pass receiver, Woodhead does not drop passes and Vereen does.
DHB kind of sucks?

He had one drop in 2012, and in 2013 he was playing with a cast on his wrist. I'm not going to be concerned with drops unless he keeps dropping the ball with the cast gone.
Until/unless that happens, I'll be paying more attention to this:

Vereen being credited with just 1 drop last season shows how lousy the stat is being tallied. We all know he dropped more than that, because we all saw it.
I think you misread my post. He had 7 in 2013, which can be pretty clearly explained by the broken wrist. He had 1 in 2012.

Blount's talent "not even close" to Ridley's"? I don't see it, at all.
Ridley is harder to tackle than Blount? Completely disagree.
Ridley has some of the best burst in the NFL? Now you're just being silly.
And Ridley's not even the most talented RB currently under contract here, never mind
in the last 10 years.
I was pretty surprised looking at Chris Johnson's numbers. HE is way more durable and adds more production in the passing game than I anticipated. Kind like and upgraded Vereen.
I don't think the Patriots will kick his tires but the guy has had an excellent career.

IDK, you can make an argument that the 2012 version of Ridley was far better than Blount. And that isn't being a homer at all.
I was one of the few Blount supporters from the start of the season, but we are talking about a very small sample size where Blount was a stud. He had two great games and a few more very good ones.
Ridley in 2012 was one of the top RBs in the league that year and had over 1,263 yards and 12 TDs.
And if you are waiting for Ridley to break out, you must have slept through 2012 where he was 7th in the league in rushing yards and third in the league in rushing TDs.
I swear. Ridley has fumbling problems last year and people totally erase his stellar 2012 season from their memories. If he can return to 2012 form, no one will care about Blount.
