Sam Hunt was one of THE biggest hitters in team history. Vincent Brown was another.

Damn I'll really miss this guy. We will all miss his on field intensity and ability to punish opposing RBs. Yeah he is a strange one but hey we are all strange some are better at hiding it than others, and he just didn't care, LOL

I was so pumped when we snagged him in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft. First Gronk then Spikes I was ecstatic that day.......we NEED to replace him with someone that can bring the passion and fire on the field because Mayo, Hightower and Collins are talented no doubt but lack that killer instinct Spikes bought to the equation

I did like Spikes as a player. A great hitter, good against the run but ultimately I doubt we'll really miss him. Good luck to him, though we shall see just how much fun he was with a different team. Better hope they are good or the fun will be quite less than NWE.

If you saw the interview with McGinest you would have seen a very humbled and thoughtful young man who openly declared that NE does it right and he just needs to mature. He put the onus squarely on himself.

Its very interesting, Shmess, to look at the title of the thread and think one thing about Spikes, and THEN watch the clip you left and think something entirely different. It only goes to prove once again, knee jerk reactions to "reported quotes: rarely tell the true story.

In that clip, Brandon speaks with both respect and pride about his Patriots experience, and thankful for what he's learned, how far he's grown, and owns up to the mistakes he made. It bodes well for the next team he plays for.

HOWEVER the fact remains that, despite the fact he does well at what he's good at, he's still a limited ILB on a team that wants more speed and quickness at the LB position. He'll have success if he's smart enough to find a team that is looking for a first class run stuffer at LB

Personally I thought too often he attacked gaps in an effort to make big plays, and if he didn't; he opened up huge cut back gaps that teams took advantage of. So he really DID need to go. But at least after this interview, I will be able to root for him when he's not playing against the Pats. Before I saw it, I probably wouldn't have. Thanks for finding it

I don't think he put that much thought into it, but I'd be fine with a player holding out "real fun" for winning the Super Bowl. Honestly, as an active player, I'd probably be a little pissed about getting that far but not winning it all yet.

Why do you think he put all his faith in Meyer's evaluations?

Regardless, only Cunningham was a bust. On the field, Hernandez was a great pick for a 4th rounder. Spikes was a productive, if limited player -- maybe not want you want from a 2nd rounder but far from a bust.

I don't know how to evaluate Hernandez, because murder isn't something you usually think about when it comes to players, but I'm not sure a lot more could have been expected from these picks.

With Pepper up there, makes some sense. Also reported today that they are moving Alonso to WLB, so they are in the market for a MLB.

I was/am a huge fan of Brandon's, I just hope for his sake that if he signs with the Bills, he hires someone to plow the snow from his driveway as they get way more in Buffalo than we do here

New England has been getting hit hard last several years. This is the first year the city of Buffalo saw a +8 inch storm in half a dozen years.

On the other hand, if he chooses a home south of the stadium in the lake effect belt, you would be right. There's skiing down there.

Ot: based on a quick Google search, Buffalo averages around 95 inches of snow a year while the 95 corridor in mass is closer to 55 inches....
