Broncos sign Aqib Talib

I wouldn't have paid Talib that much and I don't want to pile on but I kinda laugh when I see people mention salary cap hell.

Does that ever actually happen? Are there any examples of successful teams that had to dismantle because they went all in?

All I seem to see are rumors of teams in salary cap hell but then they are still out there spending like drunken sailors. The day of reckoning never seems to come?

They restructure contracts and cut older players. It happens but teams can get out of it every year. See: Saints, New Orleans; Cowboys, Dallas; Steelers, Pittsburgh.

You got us there. Other than the AFCCG this year, Talib has been a picture of good health and never missed a game.

Talib is an injury risk. He has never been healthy and productive for an entire season for his entire career. That isn't Patriots homers rationalization. That is the fact.

I was ok with the Pats signing Talib for a decent deal, but the money he got was ridiculous especially since he got knocked out the game in the most crucial game for the Pats two years in a row.

Would you like to see Gronk Walk? How many of those Games Talib missed was Gronk apart of? Players get injured its a violent sport. Ridiculous? He got market value. You think Revis comes here cheap? Great players cost money.

He was our best defensive player, and the defense took a dump as soon as he left the field. Fact.

Thank you, pats apologists have said this for 10 years now, thank you for being honest.

We are too good to accept ten years of failure, believe what you want, this isn't BUF or CLE.

"10 years of failure?" I assume you're being sarcastic.

- He hasn't played a full season in the league yet.
- He played on a top 4 CB level for 2 months in his entire career.
- He got traded because of charakter issues 2 years ago
- Broncos are betting everything on next year
- Revis is on a whole different plant than Talib.
- Revis had an ACL in 2012.

Fair play to Talib. He bet on himself and took the one year contract. I would've loved to get Talib for a reasonable deal but 6 years 57m$ is too much.

He was elite his entire patriot tenure. No one here would dare say otherwise prior to this. You have to remember our D pre-Talib..... Then again, I wouldn't blame you for blocking that out.

Lol, character issues are less than irrelevant at this point. He has been a model citizen since he arrived here.

No Revis isn't, he is in the same top 5 with him both of whom are behind the best CB Richard Sherman.

Can't moan about Talib's hip and not Revis' injuries.

Sure you can. Since 2010, Talib has consistently missed 3-6 games per year, and has played at far below 100% in about half of the games that he does play. He has a recurring hip injury that has flared up every season, without fail, since he originally sustained it in 2010. Historically, hip injuries are chronic issues that stick with players over the long term, so this is more or less to be expected.

Revis tore an ACL a year and a half ago and is now fully recovered. Which is standard, because most players that sustain ACL tears nowadays make full recoveries with few, if any, complications.

The difference is self-evident. I agree re: the character issues, though; anyone pointing to that is just trying to throw dirt on him after the fact. Nobody cared about that stuff two days ago. Even I wouldn't have taken issue with it if the Pats had given him a five year deal, and I actually was pointing to that last offseason as a reason to think twice about a long-term deal.

Look at Pittsburgh right now. Look at all of the guys that New Orleans had to cut over the past week. Look at Dallas: they went all in and still weren't that good, and now they have to watch Ware and Hatcher sign somewhere else. The Chargers are pretty much locked in with what they have. Should I keep going?

Bob Kraft declines to comment on Talib signing.

Bad poster! Bad boy! Too many facts introduced!!!

Exactly!

And another thing. Morons posting about the Patriots past 10 years of "failures" lol If this team is such a "failure" why are you posting here?

Must make you a real loser to be following such a big "failure" so close. Get a life.

What the hell are you talking about?

For the 5th time in his career, Revis played full steam ahead in all 16 games last year.

In his ENTIRE CAREER, Talib has never done that. He hasn't played more than 13 games in any season since 2009.

If you're comparing as equal the physical conditions of Revis and Talib, then you're just throwing stuff up against a wall hoping it will stick.

Whatever you do, don't waste any time researching points you are making statements about. That would be too careful.

Dutchmaster617. :D

It must take alot of work to come up with some of those gems.

I agree Revis hasn't missed as many games but he played through multiple injuries last season: chest, shoulder, groin & was knocked out so concussed even tho he "passed" the protocol before the next game.

The rest I think we are on the same page.

Aqib Talib said he hasn't had a hip injury since he was in Tampa. Said he had a quad injury last year, but Patriots misreported it as a hip.

Depends, do you consider elite leaving back to back AFCCG? I do not, he can be the greatest regular season CB in the history of the NFL but if he is watching from the sidelines when it really counts does it matter. The Patriots did not need Talib to make the playoffs, they never needed him for that, they needed him to push them over the hump to win a SB and when it came time to do that he was not able to play. I cannot see paying $10M with the hope that changes when it very well could get worse.

No Revis isn't, he is in the same top 5 with him both of whom are behind the best CB Richard Sherman.

He was in that category for 8 weeks of 1 season, overall he has not been a top 5 CB in the NFL.

Sure you can, Revis suffered a knee injury had surgery and returned to play 16 games. Other than that, he has been durable throughout his career. Talib has a chronic issue with his hip; it has affected him three straight seasons.

Calm down.

What Revis did, 4 years ago is irrelevant.

He has dealt with injuries the last 3 seasons they haven't kept him out of the lineup, that may be a matter of coaching style. Maybe he doesn't suit with those same injuries here. But he has dealt with multiple injuries concurrently. Including being knocked out cold and playing the next game.

And Elway never had a concussion…

He only dealt with injuries in 2012. He played 16 games in 2011 and 16 games in 2013, he was outstanding in 2011 with 21 pass defends and 4 interceptions, this season he played in a zone defense, which was a waste of his talent, he still forced 2 fumbles, intercepted 2 passes, and had 11 pass defends.

I like Talib but comparing him to Revis is like comparing a Kia to a Bentley.

Playing is a result of the coaches deciding if you should suit up sometimes. Pats are one of the more cautious teams IMO outside of the whole
Gronk debacle. I don't think Revis suits up with several of his injuries last season.

I also don't confuse quality of play with injury history. Brady didn't stop being elite in 2008. He didn't have to regain his elite status in 2009. He was already there. Talib wasn't hunted in the last AFCCG. It was designed play and it worked to perfection. Could've happened to anyone. But the game is violent everyone gets hurt that's my whole point.

That's incorrect. He had Shoulder, chest, groin and a possible concussion last season

Talib is an all-pro talent. Explain the Kia-Bentley comparison.

Hyperbole aside, I would put Revis behind Richard Sherman for best in the league but Talib isn't far behind him. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you weren't calling him a Kia a week ago.

If you were to say Revis= Bentley and Talib was a BMW I could
Accept that :)
