wow, so where is the pats apologists like Andy and such? What do you guys have to say?

They blow us out and then take our best defender, what can we use as an excuse now, Brady is about to be 36 or 37, wow man, great way to wake up.

Would you have paid Talib that contract? Verner deal hurts for sure. But no way Talib's hip makes that contract a good investment.

I wouldn't, but wow, what the **** is going on?

I wake up to this ****, they get blown out and we laugh and now they take our best defender. How do we counter that? Do we go cheap and hope? This sucks so bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is healthy for them, I really wouldn't, if he makes the plays in possibly two games against us it no longer matters, sorry I am just pissed.

Lets see what they do. Its a shame we didn't lock up a decent corner last night.

its day 1. Admittedly. Not a great one. But I'm not writing the season off because someone went full ****** with Talibs contract.
To be honest. I think the team offered Edelman a pretty good deal. If he doesn't come back. So be it.

I think Revis goes back home. They're the one team that can throw the bank at him and turn his head. Don't see NE being a destination at all.

I'd be shocked if pats sign him but according to various reports out there it sounds kinda likely, but not getting my hopes up.

By the way people are running their mouths about how the team is ran, you'd think the Patriots haven't made the playoffs in the past three years. Yet they played in the AFC championship three times and a Super Bowl. That takes a good GM and great salary cap management.

The Broncos season ended in embarrassment last season, and the defense wasn't the reason behind that. They get a random number of games with a dice roll on playoff games with Talib. They payed him like he was the most durable player in the game. If you can't see why New England didn't agree/attempt to match that, it's only because you don't want to open your eyes.

This team will play itself into the playoffs and do what they do. Compete.

Every team but one loses eventually, so not winning the Super Bowl isn't some unlikely outcome that should shame us all. They don't have a Super Bowl win since the 2004 season? OH MY GOD! Let's cry together in pure rage at the jerk Bill Bilicheck because he wont sign every player I've seen have a highlight on Sports Center. You know, some teams still haven't won one Super Bowl? Most teams haven't won a Super Bowl since 2004. A lot of teams have a handful of playoff appearances in that time. Some have zero.

Exactly. Even without Talib we should've gotten him for that price. 6,5m$ for a corner his class, durable, no off field issues and the hike in $$ the next years? Bucs got a great deal there. Talib for that kind of money is dangerous.

I haven't read every page in this thread, but I'm pleasantly surprised that the majority of us aren't going ballistic over this. Of course they're are some idiots that think the season already over, but for the most part it's been good.

It sucks losing Talib, it sucks more that he went to Denver, but he wasn't worth all that money. Denver can have him. No doubt in my mind he's gonna miss plenty of games with that hip problem.

If people think loading up the way to go, go root for the donkeys.

The Patriots don't get to have whatever player they want to sign. Verner chose Tampa Bay. Maybe the Patriots would have matched that offer, but Verner wanted to live in Florida. Maybe the Patriots realized that another shorter corner who plays better in zone isn't going to do very much to improve the defense, with or without Talib.

Remember folks.

Signing Talib doesn't mean that Peyton doesn't poop his pants come playoff time.

I wonder what this means about Decker resigning there now.

And now with CB Aqib Talib a Bronco, Patriots figure to make a real push for Darrelle Revis

Believe it when I see it. too good to be true if we're honest.

Exactly.

The current SB Champ won with a Russell Wilson.

The one before with a Joe Flacco.

The one before with an Eli Manning.

It's called the Lombardi Trophy, not the Bart Starr Trophy.

You're on a roll. This and your other post "an NFL team is 53 moving pieces."

Heresy of heresies: the Patriots may actually win an SB someday without Tom Brady.

So why was he reportedly their plan B? Let's say he really wanted to live in Florida, then just overpay him slightly to still get him for a pretty great deal. 29m over 4 years looks still like a steal compared to Shields, Talib. It's part of the way BB does business. Calculate the market, wait for the market to go mostly to his plannings. In most cases that's a very good strategy, but it takes only one team to destroy that strategy and that team were the Denver Broncos.

I think it's funny that some complain about us not paying top dollar to anyone but the reason we haven't that much cap space is because we actually paid our top players in Wilfork, Mankins and Mayo.

Sounds more of like he's assuming they will rather then inside info.

Sounds like he's spitballing. Its not a BB type move. And Revis is not exactly a BB type person. Didn't he call him a jerk on TV once.

Revis is exactly a BB type player, someone who makes offenses play with one side of the field. Yeah he called him a jerk but I'm sure or I hope bill could care less and frankly not give a crap. This isht junior where people hold grudges bout simple name calling.

This realistically is why the pats continue to fail and be unable to get it all done. WHY did we lose the last TWO SB'S? Because we had a piss poor secondary (other than Samuel in 07....and god bless Rodney but he was in decline) that cot stop crap. Since the glory days of 01-04....Pats overall have had #*$! for players in the secondary.....would we all agree on that. I still recall saying almost every year that when we DID finally get a SHUTDOWN corner....or an elite CB...We damned better PAY THE MAN...and add more quality CB/safeties to the mix. QUALITY players....not Joe bag o' donuts from Stop and Shop.

We had that guy in Talib...and they let him walk away....not just walk away...but to our biggest rival in the AFC. If they had worked on a contract earlier could have gotten it done. Now Denver keeps getting better..they are signing Ware too. It IS a big contract....everyone gets that. In my mind the guy has proven himself...and he DESERVED it. Now back to more mediocrity on Belichicks defense.....

You ***** and moan that the reason the pats didn't win a super bowl because of a terrible secondary...

And completely ignore that the pats didn't even MAKE IT to the super bowl with "the guy" in talib.

The BIG FA move isn't in BB's MO. He won't pay over the odds. Others will.

as for the Jerk comment. Its more on Revis. Does he want to come here given his history with NE. I just see his head being turned elsewhere. I'd be shocked to see him here.

Didn't he call him a jerk on TV once.

Wow, big deal.

He was playing for the Jets and we are their biggest rival who embarrass them 99% of the time we play. Obviously he had some type of bitterness towards him.
