Wells Report on Dolphins locker room: Incognito, others in 'pattern of harrassment'

The Dolphins posted their best record in years and effectively took home field advantage away from us even with a locker room that was severely torn apart. Your hypothesis doesn't work

They apparently didn't mind it, unless you have some way of showing me that they, by and large, ever condemned Incognito for it. Since you don't, it might be best to just admit that I'm right here and mosey along back to the Political forum at the bottom of this message board. But if you want to dig your heels in on this one, it should at least be entertaining.

lol - "I'm right". Just lol. Black people obviously love this ****.

Being inappropriately immature, homophobic, bigoted, and bullying is not "manly". That stereotype and the behavior associated with it needs to change.

There are myraid behaviors of NFL players that need to change.
Expecting maturity out of these players is a little optimistic.
Ignoring that immature behavior including joking about sex, sexual orientation, and a struggle for 'alpha male' status among the groups or subgroups is almost unpreventable with this group of men is just not reality.

Forum needs an "ignore overt racism" feature.

HA, since it is "impossible" there is no reason to expect them to behave like adults.....which comes first the chicken or the egg?

Come on, Kontra. This team most recently lost to the Bills & Jets by a combined score of 39-7. This team accomplished nothing this season, despite stockpiling talent in the offseason and being picked by many to supplant us, and your efforts to suggest otherwise undermine your argument..

Nah, I'd rather have that behavior than the false veneer of so-called civilization worn by the hypocrites. Low brow humor is supposed to be just that. Americans used to be mature enough to grasp that.

What needs to change is that the sissyfication of the west needs to be reversed.

Lesser degree being the key word here, and I think you are severely underestimating how far apart those degrees are. There's a line, and its when it hurts team chemistry.
We know of one case in the history of the NFL where it purportedly hurt team chemistry, because the player admitted that he just smiled at took it but wished he hadnt, but the Dolphins season kind of says it didnt.

Belichick's never going to let anything go if it jeopardizes the team's chances of winning.
Who says it did, will or has?
Again to whatever degree, this is who NFL players are. You are acting as if this is the only time anything like this ever happened and the wheels came off, when in reality the Dolphins had a good season compared to last year.

Belichick isn't outspoken on a lot of things, but he was on the hazing issue, and I take him at his word that he takes it seriously. It's not just lip-service. Everything we've seen from the team and heard players and former players about that locker room suggest he was being sincere.

So?
That doesn't mean he is policing every interpersonal relationship between every player and monitoring whether one player is busting balls and the other is depressed because of it. any team focussed on that, given the make up of the typical NFL player, would have no time to focus on winning.
Of course he tells them don't overdo it on the rookies, but if I still see shaved heads every camp. Again, degrees.

I would say that standing up and not allowing nonsense to occur is a lot harder than shutting your mouth and being a whipping boy for insults about ones family. Would you not agree?

A lot of people go along to get along....If people did not do that, I suspect the nonsense would stop.

So, stop being a sissy and stand up for yourself and your family. Take the hard road, take the road of a man, and tell people that if they are going to talk about your sister like that you are going to snap their neck and shiznit down their throat.

I guess you would just laugh and giggle because you want to be part of the group...haha....weak arse.

When people talk to you like that, they are exerting their dominance over you. I don't know about you, but I am an alpha. I do not stand for nonsense.

Black people outside that locker room are irrelevant. The relevant figures here are the Dolphins coaching staff, Incognito, Martin, and their teammates. You still haven't commented on why you think black teammates went to bat for Incognito and not Martin. Why is that?

Now we see Page 1, Play 1 in this playbook. Might want to find someone else who will take that cheese. Let's stay on topic, shall we?

They didn't make the playoffs, no. Part of that is because Tannehill crapped the bed. They still posted a better record and were more competitive this season than they have been any other season, save 2008, in the last decade or so. It's not like they were the Browns.

I would say that jokes about family are big enough in certain circles that there are competitions about them. Perhaps Wells has never been anywhere outside of Beverly Hills and other assorted mansion-infested areas. In the real world, "Yo mama, Yo sista" jokes are made by people all across the color spectrum.

Yes, of course. There is no such thing as a decent person and let's all be terrible people cause it helps us win football games or something....

Yeah, I've been there, and it is about being dominated in the group. Ceding control of where the line is drawn.

Its called going along to get along...the first time people make those jokes, it hurts, but you want to get along so you laugh.....and then you make a joke...and it is all okay....but, really it is about you giving up your respect.

I don't want to get political, I'm not a political person in the least. But comments like these seem short-sighted. At the end of the day, on average, our society has moved in one direction, and that is to suck slightly less than it has before.

And as awful as people want to make society seem today - and they certainly can, people suck - you'd be lying to yourself if you wanted to turn the clock back to any point in time before now and undo any of the progress society has made, and continues to make, in most arenas.

To the larger issue of political correctness, the issue is that if it bothers one person, and it makes one person's jobs harder, than it's making it harder for the team.

I don't understand why people who regret political correctness don't get this fact. If Icgonito and his cohorts weren't trying to be A-Holes, they wouldn't have said these things around a guy who clearly was upset with it. Some people can handle a certain type of humor. Other's can't. People have to be treated differently, and anytime you get 53 people together in a room, there is no one rule for all of them. Belichick wouldn't let a player get harassed if he couldn't handle it, and the Phins did.

There is absolute zero debate over this fact: Icognito's actions were not for the good of the team. All the fallout has cemented that fact, and debating it is absolutely asinine.

...I guess you would just laugh and giggle because you want to be part of the group...haha....weak arse.

I laugh at things I find funny. Depending on my mood, that might just include laughing at jokes about family.

As for me wanting to be a part of a group, well, I'll just say that I don't worry about fitting into a group in the real world any more than I worry about fitting in to a group online.

America is a bunch of wussies cuz they don't like racism and abusing other people!

*Posts furiously on internet*

I guess we should expect players to never mature beyond a high school level.

Where are the complaints that the NFL gets filled with dozens of underclassmen yearly? In fact, GMs are salivating that this year's draft eligible underclassmen group will be the largest ever.
Keep it simple...Wins and losses......everything else is noise. And if one feels the absolute need to comment on societal evolution, choose a different window to peer through than the NFL peep hole. Its primative, undemocratic, almost plantation like....except for the million dollar checks.......And it Works So Well
Now back to watching figure skating. Analyst Johnny Weir is wearing a sequin blouse with tassels, eyelash extensions, and a stunning tiara that compliments his dangling necklace and bracelets. Go Team USA

Given that there are several people disagreeing with your take even here, and given that the initial reaction the last time was to bash Incognito only to pull back, it's pretty clear that what you consider to be true isn't universally believed.

Also,

And as awful as people want to make society seem today - and they certainly can, people suck - you'd be lying to yourself if you wanted to turn the clock back to any point in time before now and undo any of the progress society has made, and continues to make, in most arenas.

is an absolute load of horse manure.

The treatment of the assistant trainer by Incognito, Pouncey and Jerry was nothing short of disgraceful. It's hard to believe that no one - not a player or a coach - stood up to stop this behavior. It will be interesting to see how the league handles this because there is no excuse for it. It would be cause for dismissal in any other business I can think of.

You can rationalize this away by blaming it on political correctness or Obama or whatever. In reality, it's a lack of leadership. What was okay in high school isn't okay any more in the real world.

Here's someone who might agree with me. There's a reason he's a champion.
